CHAPTER 913: WELCOME BACK!

Day Ninety-Seven...

"Nate! Wake up. Don’t close your eyes!" Aiden shook Nathan’s body. He was worried that his best friend wouldn’t wake up again after closing his eyes.

But Stephen held his shoulder and said, "Don’t worry. He is going to be fine. He is just too weak right now."

Aiden nodded, flashing his faint smile. "Now, we have to wait for Ethan and Jane to regain consciousness."

Doctor Carl arrived at the ward together with Black Rose. Dr. Carl was now the one overseeing Syphiruz Medical Facility, replacing Veronica. The doctor immediately checked Nathan’s vitals.

"Is it true? Master Nathan finally wakes up?!" Doctor Carl asked Stephen.

Stephen smiled and nodded.

As the doctor was busy examining Nathan, Aiden, and Stephen heard a faint sound coming from the other sick bed. The two turned around only to see Ethan sitting up as he removed his oxygen mask.

Both Aiden and Stephen were stupefied, thinking they were just imagining things.

"Steph! Can you see what I’m seeing right now?" Aiden asked, tugging Stephen’s hand.

Stephen bobbed his head frantically. "Y-Yes... Ethan has woken up!"

Black Rose and Doctor Carl also followed their line of sight.

"Uncle..." Ethan mumbled in his weak voice. He immediately recognized Stephen and Aiden.

Unlike Nathan, Ethan managed to sit up and remove his oxygen mask alone. Aiden and Stephen dashed toward the young boy’s sick bed.

Doctor Carl and Black Rose did the same. They gathered around Ethan’s bed.

"Ethan! Can you recognize us? Do you know me?" Aiden grabbed Ethan’s little hands.

Ethan simply bobbed his head. "Uncle Aiden."

After uttering his name, Ethan looked around, searching for his parents. His eyes lit up as soon as he saw Jane and Nathan lying on the hospital bed.

"Mom! Dad!" Ethan tried to jump off the bed however, Stephen stopped him from moving.

"Ethan, stay still. Your gunshot wound might open up." Stephen held him in place.

"Uncle Stephen, are they awake?" Ethan asked him expectantly.

"Your Dad just woke up but fell asleep again. But your mom..." Stephen couldn’t continue his words. Jane was still in a coma.

"Young Master Ethan, let me examine you first,"

Doctor Carl butted in.

Ethan obediently followed the doctor’s instruction as he lay down on the bed once again. The doctor examined his vitals and his responsiveness. He was surprised that Ethan was full of energy as though he didn’t undergo the life-and-death situation at all.

"I think we can transfer the father and son to the regular ward." Doctor Carl said, removing Ethan and Nathan from the ICU.

"I’ll inform the staff to prepare the room!" Doctor Carl quickly rushed out of the ICU room.

"I have to make a call." Black Rose also excused herself to relay the piece of good news to Hanabi and Mr. Hiroshi.

Aiden followed Black Rose because he also needed to inform Old Man Xu.

Stephen stayed by Ethan’s side. "You are a strong kid, Ethan. You are brave. Thank you for coming back to us... alive."

"Uncle Stephen, Please I want to see my Mom and Dad up close," Ethan begged him.

Hearing his request, Stephen started to remove the tubes connected to Ethan’s body. He only left the IV drip and carried the young boy toward Nathan’s and Jane’s bed.

Ethan reached out, holding Jane’s hand. "Mommy! We are back to the present timeline. Dad wakes up. I woke up. And now, it’s your turn to open your eyes. You successfully accomplished your mission."

Ethan smiled happily. Even if Jane would forget some of her memories, Ethan could remember everything.

’Mommy. Don’t worry. I can help you recall your missing memories. I will not let you forget about Bam-Bam and his sacrifices. The memories you shared with my Dad, I can remember them. The Diary you’ve written is imprinted in my mind.’

Ethan gently squeezed her hand, hoping that she would regain consciousness just like Nathan and him. He raised his hand, gently caressing Jane’s cheek.

Stephen could only watch Ethan silently. Even though he couldn’t understand what the young boy was telling Jane, he felt so glad that he was in good health. This was a miracle.

It did not take long before Mr. Hiroshi, Kazuki, Tatsumi, and Hanabi showed up in the ICU.

"Ethan!" Everyone called out the young boy’s name. Relief could be seen in their eyes.

Mr. Hiroshi ran toward him, crouching down to hug his grandson. "My grandson... Thank you! Thank you for staying alive!"

Mr. Hiroshi’s body shook as he started to sob, releasing all his pent-up emotions. He had been waiting for Jane, Nathan, and Ethan to wake up.

"I’m so sorry, grandson... Your grandfather is a useless old man who failed to protect you and your mom."

Hanabi, Tatsumi, and Kazuki also shed tears as they watched the grandfather and grandson duo.

Ethan was patting Mr. Hiroshi’s back as he tried to comfort him. "Don’t blame yourself, Grandpa. Everything will be fine. Mommy will come back to us. We just have to wait. She will wake up soon."

The young boy’s reassuring words comforted the old man.

"Yes, you are right, grandson. Your mother is a strong woman. She will wake up. She will come back to us. And once it happens, we have to celebrate," Mr. Hiroshi said, wiping his tears.

Doctor Carl came back with the other medical staff. They started to transfer Nathan to a regular ward. Only Jane was left in the ICU. Everyone was waiting for her to wake up.

Mr. Hiroshi and Hanabi stayed to watch over Jane. Nathan and Ethan woke up miraculously so they believed that Jane would also regain consciousness.

Meanwhile, as Ethan was transferred to the ward, he requested something from Stephen.

"Uncle Stephen, can you please bring my father’s laptop here? There is something I wanna check."

"Okay, Ethan. I’ll ask your Uncle Aiden to pick it up in the Sparks Mansion. I’ll get you something to eat first. Wait for me, okay?" Stephen replied, stroking Ethan’s head.

As Stephen left his ward, Ethan tried to recall important memories he should remember in both timelines.

Ethan was hoping that Jane’s diary, which she wrote in the past timeline was not removed in the present timeline. He wanted his father to read her diary to reveal the truth about Jane’s soul swap. Only Ethan was the sole witness of how Jane struggled to win his father’s affection.

’My Dad must know the truth. And I hope he will believe my words.’ Ethan thought to himself.
