CHAPTER 923: AN URGENT MISSION

Day Ninety-Eight...

Jane found out the truth behind her mother’s death– the assassin and the mastermind- through her journal in the past timeline. Ethan told her what she had written.

And now, she revealed this truth to her father, Mr. Hiroshi.

"Arthur Wayne, the founder of Red Dragon..." Mr. Hiroshi clenched his fist tightly as he uttered his name, a cold glint flashing through his eyes.

The Red Dragon Mafia had been a rival organization of the Sawada Clan in Country J. They had been trying to form an alliance with his clan, so he didn’t expect that it was Arthur Wayne who called the hit to kill his wife.

It took him years before he finally found out the truth. This was something he could never forgive.

"I’ll avenge your mother’s death!" Mr. Hiroshi declared to Jane. "I will make sure to punish him."

Jane could feel her father’s fury. She understood if he wanted revenge. Arthur Wayne destroyed Hiroshi’s family. Because of this man, Mr. Hiroshi lost his wife, and his two daughters were separated from him.

"Pa, tell me if you need my help. I will support you in this. Let’s share this burden. Don’t be so hard on yourself," Jane said, grabbing his hands. She squeezed them gently to comfort him.

"I will never get any peace without avenging your mother’s death. This is my responsibility, Jane. I don’t want to involve you. This time, I will protect you... my family." Mr. Hiroshi swore with conviction.

He didn’t want his daughter’s life to be in danger again. If he had to make a move against the Red Dragon Mafia, he would never involve Jane. He wanted to deal with it himself.

"I understand, Pa." Jane didn’t insist on taking action. She believed in her father. Furthermore, the Sawada Clan is a strong organization.

"Do you plan to attack the Red Dragon Mafia?" She asked him curiously.

Mr. Hiroshi fell silent for a moment. He was contemplating whether to launch an all-out attack against the Red Dragon Mafia. If he gave an order, so many people might die.

"No. But I must settle this with Arthur Wayne. He is the one who called the hit, not the current leader of Red Dragon Mafia. This will be an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth."

Hearing those words from her father, Jane understood his plan. She smiled faintly before hugging her father.

"Don’t blame yourself, Pa. Don’t dwell on the past. We can’t turn back time. But we can always focus on the present. After this... I hope no more fighting and no more killings. Let’s live like an ordinary family." Jane expressed the desire of her heart. She was tired of the bloody battle and the killings.

She wanted to have a fresh start, living happily with her loved ones. She would only be Jane– a daughter, a friend, a sister, a mother, and a lover.

"I would like to leave my past behind and have a fresh start," she added.

Mr. Hiroshi nodded in agreement, stroking her hair. "Don’t worry, my daughter. This will be the last time. No more blood will be spilled. I will do the dirty work," he reassured her.

Jane tightened her embrace. "Pa, thank you. I’m really glad to have you as my father. I love you, Pa."

Mr. Hiroshi suddenly became emotional. It felt so good to hear those words from his daughter. He had to admit that he had so many shortcomings as a father. He wasn’t a good father. He failed them several times.

Despite everything, Jane and Abigail still accept him for who he is. They had forgiven him. His daughters tried to understand him, not judging him as a person.

"I am so lucky to have two amazing daughters. I love you both," Mr. Hiroshi responded, trying to hold back his tears.

"Grandpa! Mommy! Are you there? Come! Let’s eat!" The father and daughter were interrupted by Ethan’s voice.

Jane and Mr. Hiroshi broke the hug and giggled. It was time to join the family in the dining area. Everyone was waiting for them.

Old Man Xu also arrived. Everyone shared a meal, happily conversing. When dinner was over, Mr. Hiroshi said goodbye to them as he needed to go somewhere.

After leaving the Sparks Family Mansion, Mr. Hiroshi summoned Kazuki, Tatsumi, and Hanabi. The three of them were puzzled the moment they saw Mr. Hiroshi’s serious expression. His aura was a little bit frightening.

"Master, why did you call us?" Mr. Kazuki broke the silence.

Tatsumi and Hanabi stayed silent. They were intimidated by Mr. Hiroshi’s dominating presence. He looked furious and they didn’t know the reason.

"I’m giving you an urgent mission. You have to go back to Country J right away. Nathan lent me his private plane as your transportation."

The three of them were surprised upon hearing that. They could sense that this was a very serious matter.

"Did something bad happen to our clan?" Kazuki asked worriedly. He never received any report from their members stationed in Country J.

"No. This is not about our clan. But I’m giving you a very personal mission. It’s related to the mastermind behind my wife’s assassination. Are you willing to do it?" Mr. Hiroshi consulted them first.

"Yes. Godfather! I’m willing to do this."

Hanabi promptly responded. This was related to Jane’s mother. She would do everything to punish the culprit.

"Count me in, Godfather. I’m at your service!" Tatsumi also replied.

Mr. Hiroshi was satisfied with their response. Hanabi and Tatsumi are the best duo of the Sawada Clan. As long as they worked together, their mission had a high chance of success.

"I’m entrusting this important mission to the three of you. You are not only doing this for my sake... but for my daughters as well."

Hearing those words from Mr. Hiroshi, Hanabi and Tatsumi became more inspired and determined to accomplish this special mission.

"Master, who is our target? Who is the mastermind behind your wife’s death?" Kazuki asked him curiously.

Mr. Hiroshi’s expression turned darker, clenching his jaw before he spoke up.

"The founder of the Red Dragon Mafia, Arthur Wayne! He is your target!" Mr. Hiroshi said through his gritted teeth.

Meanwhile, Hanabi was stunned upon hearing that name. Her eyes widened in shock, and her face turned pale.

’Arthur Wayne... he is Alexander’s grandfather... the old man I met.’ Hanabi’s heart sank as she recalled her interaction with Arthur Wayne– the very old man who treated her well during their first encounter.

’No way... why does it have to be him?’ Hanabi stood frozen in her spot. She had conflicting thoughts right now.

Tatsumi noticed the change in her expression. He frowned deeply as he suddenly recalled something.

Mr. Hiroshi gave them instructions. But Hanabi seemed to be distracted. To cover for her, Tatsumi was the one responding to Mr. Hiroshi’s questions from time to time.

A few minutes later, Mr. Hiroshi dismissed the three of them. Hanabi left without saying a word. They had to prepare to depart.

"Father, what is the relationship of Arthur Wayne to the current leader of the Red Dragon Mafia?" Tatsumi asked Kazuki in his low voice.

"Arthur is the dragon lord’s grandfather," Kazuki replied.

At that certain moment, Tatsumi finally realized the reason why Hanabi’s expression changed when Arthur Wayne was revealed to them.
