CHAPTER 60: CH 60: HEERA’S PARTNER

[HaremKingXXX: Oh my! You lost all your aura. Your girl got snatched away from you.]

[Shura: I came here for a blooming romance, but watched NTR Yuri instead.]

The sudden sound of notifications going off reminded Cane that he had started streaming not too long ago. People were pouring in, now curious to see what was happening and what new way Cane was causing trouble.

Cane quickly defended himself.

"There is no yuri here. Dani might look like a girl, but he’s really a guy. And a hardcore gamer at that. He has no time for girls or any nonsense."

[WinWinWin: I think you are coping so hard here. Just admit that you are jealous and end things there. There is no need to be like this with us.]

[LoserWinner: That’s right! If you are a loser, then you need to admit it with pride. Welcome to our side, Cane.]

Cane felt his eye twitch as he looked at the messages. He wanted to deny these messages, but they kept coming more and more, causing Cane to ignore them.

He had forgotten that he had just been adding more fuel to the fire by answering his chat.

"Cane, let’s head back. I have exchanged information with Dani already, so I will contact her in-game if I want something from you. I will head out now."

Dani quickly logged off, and that left Cane and Ai all alone. They returned to the inn as well when a sudden voice called out to Cane.

He tensed, ready to engage in combat, before he realized that the voice calling out to him did not sound threatening.

Instead, it sounded soft and warm, sending a sense of calmness and familiarity through Cane’s body. He turned back to see Heera running toward him.

She had changed her dress, but her cat-years were still present, and now she even had a cat-tail to match her aesthetics.

Ai quickly stood in front of Cane as protection and brought her staff out. She was trying to protect Cane from any threat and and as soon as Dani noticed this, she stepped back.

"Woah-! Wait a minute-! I am not a threat to you or anything. I am just here to talk to you....well, Cane mostly. You can ask him as well. We know each other."

Heera quickly raised her hands to show that she was not harmful, but Ai did not lower her guard. If anything, she became even more vigilant compared to before.

It was Cane who noticed this and stopped Ai.

"Ai, you don’t have to attack Heera. She’s an acquaintance of mine. I am sure she has a good reason to be here today."

Cane told her and Ai was quick to agree.

"Cane is right. I do have a good reason to be here today. I am here to ask Cane to be my partner for the mage championship. I want to have a collaborative stream with you."

Heera’s words cleared out one thing for Cane- why she had decided to come to him and not other top-players.

It was because Heera was seeking out more clout from the championship and the best way to do that was to collab with players in her range.

Most top players did not have many fans because they were too busy doing the ’grind’ compared to actually making things entertaining or taking risks.

"Cane, I still think she’s suspicious and we should take care of her."

Ai told Cane, her eyes trailed on Heera and she refused to pull her weapon back. It made Heera also be on alert and bring her weapon out.

Cane felt like he was stuck between a rock and a hard place as he watched the two females beef it out.

But then he moved and grabbed Ai to pull her back.

"Ai, it’s fine. I told you already that I know Heera well and she’s not a threat. I am also going to accept her offer. That is the only way we would be able to go to the central server together."

Hearing that, Ai paused and pulled her weapon back.

When she had first been offered to come to the central server by Dani, she had assumed that Cane would follow her as well. She ahd clearly forgotten that only specific people could come to the central server.

"Look miss, I don’t know what your problem is, but my business is with Cane here. So, if you would please step back for me..."

Heera asked and each word she spoke felt more and more annoying for Ai to deal with. She immediately wanted to deny this request, but knew that she had no reason to do that.

Even Cane was looking at her, wondering what she would devise to do in the end.

Ai just sighed as she looked at the people around her before she pulled back.

"Fine...I guess I did overreact a little. Are you...a friend of Cane as well?"

Ai asked as she pulled her weapon back. Ai just grinned at her before she shook her head.

"No way-! A friend is too high of a praise for someone like me. I am...let’s just say, an admirer at best? Or a fan even."

Heera clasped her hands as she told Ai this. Her eyes sparked in a way they had not before and that made Ai feel aware of Heera’s presence.

"I...see..."

Ai spoke softly, but she did not pull her weapon back. She was still ready to attack if the opportunity arrived.

Not that she got one with Heera quickly taking her seat beside Cane and using him as a shield.

"Anyway, I am not a suspicious person and to prove that, I will treat you both to some food. Come with me."

Heera told them as she grabbed Cane’s hand to tug him after her. Cane followed, but Ai was much more suspicious compared to him and felt her temper boil.

’Tsk, how dare she touch Kyle like this? I will not allow her to do as she pleases for much longer.’
