CHAPTER 4: THE WORLD

Aegon’s first birthday was getting closer, and it showed by how excited Xiu was. Well, she was always excited if the matter was related to Aegon, but this time she was doing all sorts of preparations for his birthday.

In the meantime, Aegon had also learned to properly talk. He had also begun to use his system to the best he could and acquired a few interesting things.

Sadly, he couldn’t use most of them before he learned more about the world.

But one of them was certainly very useful and also something he could use instantly.

Aegon wanted this for various reasons and eventually found a way to acquire it. He first learned who had the best memory in their mansion, and it turned out to be their Head Maid, Stephanie.

Her memory was excellent, so he went to her and tried signing in. His luck wasn’t too good in the initial tries and he ended up getting a few maid uniforms...

’The hell am I supposed to do with these? I swear I could basically open a company selling everything... wait! That doesn’t sound like a bad idea. This is a medieval world but there are so many things I want modern. Hmm, I’ll have every modern profession in this fantasy world one day.’

He persisted and tagged along with Stephanie, which certainly made the middle-aged woman beam with happiness. And that’s when the system finally gave in to him.

Currently, Aegon was walking hand in hand with Stephanie toward Arnold’s library since he wanted to ask him to teach a few things.

He was already registered as a genius in their household since he could walk steadily and even talk better than most kids. His mind was far sharper than others his age.

That was why he wanted "Perfect Memory," to solidify his position as the genius and bring his progress forward.

He wanted to learn about this world now.

"Young Master, I heard you already learned the basics of maths?" Stephanie asked while keeping a slower pace to match him.

Aegon nodded. "It was easier with Xiu teaching me everything. Where is she anyway? I haven’t seen her since morning."

"Miss Xiu is busy with the preparations for your birthday," Stephanie smiled and said. "After I send you to Master, I’ll also join her."

They finally reached the library, and Stephanie pushed open the tall wooden doors. As the double doors smoothly parted ways, a huge dome filled with dozens of tall bookshelves came into view.

’No matter how many times I see this, I can never get enough of it.’ Aegon wondered in awe. ’It’s so huge!’

"Then, I will take my leave, Young Master. Call me if you need anything," Stephanie bowed without stepping into the library.

"Bye, Aunt Steph!" Aegon waved his hand and slowly walked inside the library.

’Come to think of it, can someone who isn’t even a year old walk properly like I do?’ he wondered. ’Maybe I should have read something related to babies. Damn those reincarnation novel authors! They always made the MC grow up in a few Chapters.’

Even if normal babies couldn’t walk on Earth so soon, Aegon considered it a special trait of this fantasy world. Maybe it gave him a stronger body than humans normally had and allowed him to support himself better now.

’Probably...’

Magic existed in this world, so anything was possible. Maybe that was the reason why his family took his abnormal intelligence so easily.

Just as he was about to reach the wooden desk, strong arms swept him off his feet from behind. Knowing the owner of those familiar arms, Aegon smiled, "Opa!"

"Who allowed you to walk again?" Arnold said, clearly displeased.

"Opa! I am strong and can walk properly," Aegon said proudly.

"You’re not even a year old," Arnold rolled his eyes and sat down on the comfortable chair with Aegon in his arms. "So, why did you come here?"

"I want to know about the world," Aegon said earnestly. "You promised you would take me outside after my birthday, so I want to know more about the world."

"Your mind really goes to books a lot. Is that why you’re so curious? You read something in them?" Arnold asked.

Aegon nodded, since it was quite true. He had tried to find information in the books, but the important ones weren’t easy to get. Well, he could get them by asking, which was exactly what he was doing now.

"Alright then. Our family’s Little Sun will study with his Opa today," Arnold smiled and made Aegon comfortable in his lap. "I’m sure Xiu will blow a fuse once she learns you’re learning from me instead of her."

"She’s busy!"

"I expected that much from that simple-minded girl," Arnold shook his head and said. "So, what do you want to know first?"

"Everything!!"

"But we need to start somewhere," Arnold said. "Without a proper start, nothing can exist. So, how do I explain?"

"Hmmm," Aegon hummed and said. "Then... Geography."

"I thought you would say that," the man smiled. "You truly are the most intelligent child of my family."

"Really?" Aegon asked in surprise.

"Yes," Arnold nodded. "Anyways, I’ll explain the geography to you. For starters, we haven’t completely explored the world, so there is no known end to it. We only know about the Triana Continent, and even that we haven’t explored fully."

"Why is that?" Aegon asked, though he already had a few clues since he had read some history books too.

"Hmmm, let’s see... we have the dangerous Frost Mountains and also many Beast Tribes in the north. To the east, we have the Endless Nightmare Desert which no one can cross."

Arnold explained calmly, as if he was teaching a child rather than a baby.

"To the south, we have the Vast Atlantic Ocean that no one has ever managed to sail. And in the west... we have the Mobius Alliance. They are our enemies, so we don’t have any information on what lies further beyond them."

’Beast Tribes... it’s a fantasy world so maybe there are other races?’ Aegon wondered and asked, "Why are we fighting them?"

Arnold stiffened for a moment and then relaxed. He remained silent for a while before speaking, "There are various reasons, but the main one, in my opinion, is our differences as different races. They are from the Demon Race, and we are humans."
