Chapter 137: How Did They End Up Together?
CHAPTER 137: CHAPTER 137: HOW DID THEY END UP TOGETHER?
"Sang Yu, you should stay here today. I happen to have some time. Let me treat you to dinner."
Liu Shumin put away Sang Yu’s draft for the day as she spoke.
It’s been such a long time, and it seems Liu Shumin has never had a meal with Sang Yu.
Today, Liu Shumin just happens to have time, so why not have a meal together.
Sang Yu thought about it and had nothing going on today, so she agreed: "Sure."
"Okay, then wait here for a bit. I’ll be ready soon."
Sang Yu nodded: "Alright, no rush, you go ahead."
After pouring a glass of water for Sang Yu, Liu Shumin turned and left the room.
After a while, she returned.
"Sorry to keep you waiting. I’m ready, we can go."
Sang Yu stood up: "Okay."
Liu Shumin took Sang Yu to a restaurant.
"Can we get a table by the window?" Liu Shumin asked.
Sang Yu: "Of course."
Liu Shumin and Sang Yu chose a table by the window and sat down, and Liu Shumin ordered food with the waiter.
"I’ve been meaning to invite you to dinner for a while, but I’ve never had the time. Today, I finally found the chance."
Sang Yu smiled and said, "It’s not too late now!"
Liu Shumin smiled: "Yes, actually I am very grateful to you."
Sang Yu looked at Liu Shumin with a puzzled expression: "Hmm?"
Liu Shumin smiled faintly: "Actually, I’ve never told you, if it weren’t for your appearance, I might have had to give up my job."
Sang Yu was even more confused; Liu Shumin had such good work skills, she shouldn’t be unable to continue working.
Perhaps seeing Sang Yu’s confusion, Liu Shumin smiled somewhat bitterly: "It’s because of my husband."
Taking a sip of tea, Liu Shumin continued, "My husband is a very traditional man. He hopes I can focus on family, being a good wife and mother, so he’s never been supportive of me working.
But I don’t want that. I don’t want my life to be confined to such a limited space, so I’ve always argued with my husband,
constantly torn between my dreams and my family.
Especially when our newspaper wasn’t doing well, my husband was even more eager for me to leave.
But one day, your illustrations appeared. At that moment, it seemed like hope appeared.
Sure enough, after your illustrations were published, they received a great response, and the higher-ups started paying more attention to our newspaper.
This change finally made my husband stop forcing me to give up working.
So I’m very grateful to you."
Sang Yu didn’t expect this side of Liu Shumin’s life.
"Congratulations." Sang Yu raised her glass towards Liu Shumin.
Liu Shumin smiled slightly: "Thank you."
After a while, the dishes they ordered were served.
"Try this restaurant’s dishes; I think they’re not bad."
"They do look good indeed."
As they were eating, a voice suddenly rang out: "Sister-in-law, what are you doing here?"
Sang Yu looked up and saw Lin Wen: "Lin Wen?"
She hadn’t seen Lin Wen for a long time and didn’t expect to run into him here.
Meeting the girl next to Lin Wen, she was a bit surprised.
Wei Qing had a guilty, shifty look in her eyes when she saw Sang Yu.
"Sister-in-law, what a coincidence." Lin Wen excitedly greeted Sang Yu.
"What a coincidence. Are you guys here for dinner too?" Sang Yu’s eyes glanced between Lin Wen and Wei Qing.
When did Wei Qing and Lin Wen get together?
Wasn’t Wei Qing into Jiang Jingming?
Did she switch so quickly?
Lin Wen straightforwardly said: "Yes, I heard the food here is good, so I brought her."
Sang Yu gave Lin Wen a meaningful look: "Is that so?"
Lin Wen couldn’t understand what Sang Yu’s expression meant.
Wei Qing urged: "Hey, are we eating or not?"
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Lin Wen said to Sang Yu: "Sister-in-law, we’re going to eat now. We’ll visit you next time."
Sang Yu nodded: "Go ahead."
Lin Wen headed towards Wei Qing: "Let’s go, young lady, let’s eat."
Wei Qing pouted, walking forward with a haughty look.
Watching them leave, Sang Yu couldn’t fathom how these two unrelated people got together.
After returning home, Sang Yu immediately shared the news with Jiang Jingming.
"Jiang Jingming, your charm seems to be failing."
Jiang Jingming: "As long as it works on you, others don’t matter."
Sang Yu playfully punched Jiang Jingming on the shoulder.
"Do you think they are really together? When did they meet? How did they get together?"
Jiang Jingming hugged Sang Yu’s waist: "When did you become so nosy?"
Sang Yu: "Nosy? I’m just curious."
Jiang Jingming: "Why not be curious about me instead?"
Sang Yu rolled her eyes at Jiang Jingming: "Nothing about you to be curious about."
Jiang Jingming leaned in to whisper in Sang Yu’s ear: "Curious what new tricks I have."
Sang Yu abruptly pushed Jiang Jingming away: "Hey, Jiang Jingming, what nonsense are you talking about?"
Sang Yu’s face turned redder than an apple.
Jiang Jingming lounged lazily: "What’s wrong? Did I say something wrong? Aren’t you curious?"
Sang Yu shook her head: "I’m not curious about that at all."
Jiang Jingming raised an eyebrow: "No worries, we’ll unlock that tonight then."
Sang Yu gave Jiang Jingming an annoyed glare: "I’m not sleeping at home tonight; I’m going to my aunt’s."
Sang Yu got up to leave, but Jiang Jingming pulled her back with a swift motion.
In a dizzying spin, Sang Yu fell right into Jiang Jingming’s arms.
"Not allowed."
Sang Yu struggled: "Let me go, I really need to see my aunt."
The cheongsams she had previously designed should be ready, and she wanted to check them out.
Jiang Jingming: "Go tomorrow, be good."
Sang Yu: "No, I want to go today."
Jiang Jingming picked Sang Yu up and headed upstairs: "You don’t get to decide."
Jiang Jingming carried Sang Yu into the room, and as she tried to get up, he held her down tightly, suddenly making Sang Yu feel something off for a moment.
"Jiang Jingming."
Jiang Jingming tried to silence her chattering little mouth.
Sang Yu immediately covered her own mouth, muttering: "Jiang Jingming, I think my period just started."
Jiang Jingming’s eyes darkened.
Sang Yu quickly added: "I’m serious, go check if we still have any of those in the house."
Jiang Jingming placed a hand on Sang Yu’s stomach, making her think for a moment that Jiang Jingming, being such a beast, was about to battle through blood, and she was ready to curse him out.
But then she heard Jiang Jingming ask: "Does your stomach hurt today?"
Sang Yu shook her head: "No."
So he wasn’t going to battle through blood; she almost misunderstood him...
