80s Marriage Swap: My Should-Be-Dead Husband Lives On
Chapter 26: Her Face in His Broad Palm
CHAPTER 26: CHAPTER 26: HER FACE IN HIS BROAD PALM
In the afternoon, Lin Wen came with food.
"Sis, I’m here." Lin Wen had already changed into a new set of clothes.
"I wasn’t sure what you liked, so I just randomly bought something from the restaurant.
Sang Yu: "It’s okay, I’m not picky."
Lin Wen took out the food while saying, "Sis, once you finish eating, you should go rest. I’ll handle things here with the captain."
"No need, you go rest, I’ll take care of Brother Jiang here."
Sang Yu noticed the dark circles under Lin Wen’s eyes. Even though he appeared energetic, he couldn’t conceal the fatigue in his eyes.
It seems like he hasn’t rested well while carrying out tasks.
"No need, Sis."
Sang Yu: "No need to say more, I’ll take care of him."
Lin Wen: "Alright then."
After Sang Yu finished eating, Lin Wen tidied up and left.
In truth, taking care of Jiang Jingming didn’t require much, just observing his condition from time to time.
After all, he wasn’t conscious yet and didn’t need to eat.
However, to detect any changes in Jiang Jingming’s condition immediately, Sang Yu didn’t sleep much that night.
Luckily, he was doing well and didn’t have a fever.
Only when daylight dimly lit outside did Sang Yu finally lean against the bedside and fell asleep.
On the hospital bed, the man’s eyelashes trembled and then slowly opened his eyes.
He was greeted by a white ceiling and the pungent smell of disinfectant.
He gently turned his head and saw Sang Yu at the bedside, with her hand supporting her chin, nodding off.
He watched her, and his eyes reflected infinite tenderness and affection for her.
His gaze was full of gentle and delicate emotions, as if his entire world was projected onto her.
It was only when she had her eyes closed that he could gaze at her so plainly.
Otherwise, his passionate stare might scare her.
Suddenly, Sang Yu’s hand slipped, and Jiang Jingming quickly raised his hand to catch her face.
Even though it tugged at his wound, he just frowned slightly and didn’t mind.
His eyes were fixed on her, his palm holding her face, soft and delicate.
She seemed extremely sleepy, showing no signs of waking.
Jiang Jingming continued to hold her face like this.
The corners of his mouth curved upward slightly.
Even when his hand became numb, he didn’t move an inch.
Sunlight spilled through the window, the man’s gaze remained fixed on the woman, and she quietly rested in his palm.
Time flowed outside the window, but within, she and he seemed frozen in this moment.
This was their time, uniquely theirs.
Yet such a warm scene was about to be interrupted.
Lin Wen and the others came by in the morning to see Jiang Jingming and saw the scene upon opening the door.
Jiang Jingming glanced at them with a warning gaze.
Even though they hadn’t spoken yet, the sound of the door disturbed Sang Yu.
Jiang Jingming’s expression immediately darkened.
Lin Wen, with great insight, said, "Well, um, we forgot something, we’ll go back to get it."
With that, Lin Wen pulled the other two out.
Sang Yu blinked dazedly, finally realizing where she was.
She glanced down at the hand holding her face, her eyes still somewhat dazed.
Looking at the soft and cute Sang Yu, Jiang Jingming’s heart felt like it was about to melt.
Once she realized the hand wasn’t her own, Sang Yu suddenly woke up: "Sorry."
The softness in his palm disappeared, a hint of disappointment flashed in the man’s eyes, "It’s alright."
"How do you feel? Is there anywhere uncomfortable?" Sang Yu felt a bit frustrated that she hadn’t noticed he had woken up sooner.
"I’m fine, don’t worry." Jiang Jingming said.
He gently moved his arm slightly.
Sang Yu noticed this subtle movement and felt a bit guilty: "Sorry, you could have woken me up."
Jiang Jingming remained silent; he couldn’t bear to.
Sang Yu: "Are you hungry? I can go buy you something, or if you want, I can cook for you."
Jiang Jingming: "No need to trouble yourself, you haven’t rested well. Lin Wen and the others can go buy food later."
"Alright then, I’ll freshen up."
When Sang Yu came out, Lin Wen and the others had returned.
The doctor came in with them.
Lin Wen and the others greeted Sang Yu in unison: "Hello, Sis."
Sang Yu responded with a smile: "Hello."
Eloquent and graceful.
The doctor first examined Jiang Jingming, "Your condition is good, just focus on healing now."
Sang Yu asked, "Doctor, is there anything he should avoid eating? What would be best for him to have during the recovery?"
She hadn’t taken care of a patient before and wasn’t very familiar with such matters.
Seeing Sang Yu so attentive, the man felt his heart constrict with mixed emotions.
"Avoid greasy and spicy food, stick to light meals."
"Okay, I understand. Thank you, doctor." Sang Yu thanked the doctor.
The doctor finished his check and left.
Lin Wen said to Jiang Jingming, "Captain, this last mission went very well. I heard the higher-ups are talking about promoting you."
Previously, when Jiang Jingming transferred to civilian service, he was more than just a captain.
Back then, Jiang Jingming said military merits belonged to the units, and once he left the army, they couldn’t count.
From starting as a police officer up to the captain position now, Jiang Jingming had achieved each step himself.
This was something Lin Wen greatly admired about Jiang Jingming.
That’s why he chose to follow Jiang Jingming after being discharged due to an injury.
"Captain, if it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t have completed the mission so quickly."
"Yes, our captain is like a divine presence!"
The three spoke one after another, but Jiang Jingming’s expression remained unchanged.
"You all stay with the captain then, I’ll go home to get some change of clothes." Sang Yu said.
Jiang Jingming: "Okay, let Lin Wen take you."
"No need, I’m not a child, I can do it myself."
With that, she left.
Once Sang Yu was gone.
The other two said, "Captain, Sis sure is beautiful."
"Yes, I was almost mesmerized just now."
Lin Wen: "I told you, Sis is both beautiful and cooks delicious food."
The two eagerly hoped, "Captain, will we have the chance to taste Sis’s cooking?"
Jiang Jingming gently raised his eyes, the meaning was obvious: Dream on.
"It’s a shame we couldn’t attend the captain and Sis’s wedding."
"Yes, unfortunately, we were on a business trip during that time, such a pity."
"There’ll be another chance." Jiang Jingming suddenly said.
His voice was soft, like a whisper.
The other three didn’t quite catch it: "Captain, what did you say just now?"
The man shook his head, "Nothing."
In the last moment of losing consciousness, Sang Yu’s image floated in his mind.
He suddenly felt a bit guilty because their wedding had been rushed. If possible, he wanted to give her a grander wedding.
So she could be dressed magnificently.
