A Crazy Love Proposal
Chapter 108 - 108 70 Shanghais Jiang Yingyu Loves You_3
Chapter 108: Chapter 70 Shanghai’s Jiang Yingyu Loves You_3 Chapter 108: Chapter 70 Shanghai’s Jiang Yingyu Loves You_3 Brother had never returned her wishes for a Merry Christmas, a Happy Qixi Festival, or a Happy Mid-Autumn Festival.
She was always the one giving gifts to others, secretly hoping they would also give something back and put effort into thinking of her.
Yun Yuwan stared at the green sandalwood box, suddenly feeling too apprehensive to touch it.
A gift.
She finally had one.
Her nose tingled, but not wanting Jiang Yingyu to see her red eyes, she just smiled and said, “What is it?”
Jiang Yingyu gazed at her soft profile, “It’s a phone case.”
She continued to smile as she opened the wooden box, “Why give a phone case? Such a strange gift.”
Upon opening it, she saw a wooden phone case with a chibi caricature of herself engraved on the back. They had captured her fluffy hair, round and wide eyes, slightly full lips, cleanly defined hairline with a widow’s peak, and distinctive earless features. Even drawn round and plump, anyone could recognize it was her at a glance.
Yun Yuwan was shocked and couldn’t believe it, “Is this me?”
Jiang Yingyu watched her, dimples showing as he smiled gently, eyes twinkling, “Yes, it is.”
It was her first time receiving a drawing of herself.
And the caricature was deliberately designed in a chibi style, showing that the person who drew her had truly been paying close attention to her, even capturing her likeness in wood.
Yun Yuwan felt an urge to cry.
The caricature had simple lines, just a few strokes, but it was something she had never received before.
The drawing she wanted, of herself.
Even if the drawing had been ugly, she would have been thrilled, but this caricature was genuinely pretty—so cute that even she found it adorable. It proved that the person who drew her found her adorable, which was why she appeared that way.
She whispered softly, “How did you know the model of my phone?”
Jiang Yingyu spoke calmly and soothingly, “The background of your Moments is a selfie of you in the mirror; I can see your phone. I boldly guessed you hadn’t changed your phone, so I made this phone case.”
She gently caressed the slightly raised corners of the phone case:
“What a coincidence, I’ve always wanted a phone case with raised corners.”
Jiang Yingyu observed her, smiling naturally, “It’s not a coincidence. I saw that photo of you taking a selfie in the mirror. You had elevated the corners of the phone case with hot glue yourself. I thought you might need a phone case with raised corners.”
Yun Yuwan felt surprised and indescribable at this attention to detail; it was the first time she encountered someone doing something that matched her expectations and even went beyond them:
“Yes, when I shop online for phone cases, the good-looking ones are usually not very protective, so I added my own padding.”
The attractive ones have flat edges all around and serve merely as decorations. But phone cases with raised corners are usually the bumper kind with air cushions, which aren’t as aesthetic. So, she added her own corners to the pretty cases, ensuring her phone would be cushioned by those corners if it fell.
Once the hot glue cooled, it looked like transparent, hard plastic.
She couldn’t believe someone had noticed this detail.
Yun Yuwan looked up, wanting to earnestly remember every detail of her friend, just like he had done for her.
Jiang Yingyu continued to watch her, his eyes dropping slightly and the corners of his thin lips turning up slightly as he took a gentle sip, the Adam’s apple in his throat moving.
She seemed unaware that staring so intently at a man’s face could lead to something, observing everything from his eyes to his lips.
Outside the window, the silent night was unending, thousands of meters above the ground, with only stars and the moon visible outside – and just the two of them in the back seat.
Jiang Yingyu suddenly turned his face away, puzzling Yun Yuwan.
But she was too delighted to care, “Alright, I’ve memorized your features, too. Now wait for me to draw you very fat.”
Jiang Yingyu glanced at her sideways, after a while, he chuckled softly, “Hmm.”
She happily fitted the phone case onto her switched-off phone.
She had no idea how many missed calls and messages there might be on her phone.
So enamored with admiring it, she had no time to look at the passing clouds.
In her mind, she was sketching a chibi version of Jiang Yingyu: upturned eyebrows, almond-shaped eyes, a deep dimple on one side, and a mole near the position of his lower eyelid resembling a silkworm.
She would also make him a similar drawing to reciprocate his heartfelt gesture.
She accidentally pressed the power button and the phone rapidly turned on, displaying a stack of missed calls.
All from Wen Yangzhi.
But his calling now only proved that Zhou Fei and the banquet were more important to him, making her secondary. Otherwise, he should have chased after her right there and then.
