A Crazy Love Proposal
Chapter 270 - 270 144 Old Bootlicker_2
Chapter 270: Chapter 144 Old Bootlicker_2 Chapter 270: Chapter 144 Old Bootlicker_2 Yun Yuwan was unaware of what the person opposite her was saying; it seemed she scolded her child abruptly.
She frowned and looked at the other’s two children.
The girl was dressed casually, while the boy was in a child’s suit.
The girl had just said she wanted cake and was slapped aside by the man who said not to interrupt adults talking and to learn from her brother.
But it was clearly the brother who had mentioned wanting cake first; the sister was merely following his lead.
Yun Yuwan’s smile didn’t reach her eyes, “Manager Zhou, it’s not good to hit children in public, is it?”
Manager Zhou was oblivious and smiled, thinking Yun Yuwan would surely agree with his education philosophy, “Girls should be obedient. If they’re not, they deserve to be taught a lesson. The age-old truth is that strict parenting produces filial children.”
Yun Yuwan smiled briefly and turned to look for someone.
Manager Zhou was still smiling, “Are you looking for something? Can I help you?”
Yun Yuwan just smiled and shook her head, but the moment she saw Zhu Nongzhang not far from her, she immediately spoke up, “Nongzhang, this man favors boys over girls.”
Before Manager Zhou could react, a long leg came flying and knocked him to the ground with a kick.
Zhu Nongzhang looked down from above at the middle-aged man with a twisted frown, “Dammit, I hate people who favor boys over girls the most!”
Suddenly there was a commotion in the banquet hall, and everyone looked over as Manager Zhou hastily got up.
The little girl, frightened by her father’s fierce glare, knew she would be beaten when she got back, “I don’t want cake anymore, Daddy, I was wrong.”
Zhu Nongzhang crouched down, wiped the crying girl’s tears, and fixed her lopsided braids, “Don’t cry. Sister will take you to have cake. Whatever cake you want, as long as Shanghai has it, no matter if it costs tens or hundreds of thousands, sister will buy it for you.”
Manager Zhou was taken aback.
Her gaze shifted slightly, then she spoke to Manager Zhou, “Mixing in the financial circles of Shanghai, especially as one of the Zhu’s, if you want to pack your bags and leave someday, just keep treating your daughter like this.”
Manager Zhou, who had been unfriendly at first, had a change of expression as soon as he realized it was the daughter of the Zhu family. He hurriedly smiled to ingratiate himself, though his sidelong glances at his daughter were still displeased, obviously still blaming her for everything:
“It’s my fault, there’s been a misunderstanding. I don’t favor one over the other; I treat both children the same.”
Zhu Nongzhang glanced at him and then gently looked at the little girl, “Little Miss, what’s your name?”
But unexpectedly, the girl said softly, “My name is Zhou Wangshi.”
Zhu Nongzhang was taken aback upon hearing the girl’s name, which was a cultured way of saying “one to be called upon” in Shanghai.
And Manager Zhou, superficially glamorous but actually steeped in outdated traditions, thought Zhu Nongzhang couldn’t understand the meaning of those two words and kept chuckling awkwardly.
Wangshi is a common female name in the Minnan region, meaning raised casually, hardly different from “one to be called upon.”
Zhu Nongzhang’s expression changed, she gently picked up the little girl, smiling and saying not to be scared, but turned to leave, implying she’ll settle things with Manager Zhou outside.
All eyes were on Zhu Nongzhang, with Wen Yangzhi the only one staring at Yun Yuwan standing to the side.
Her demeanor was calm and self-consistent; even though she drew everyone’s attention, there was no sign of panic or fear, which was a stark contrast to her past self.
She glanced at her phone and after two seconds, lifted her gaze nonchalantly, turning her head to meet Wen Yangzhi’s steady gaze.
Yun Yuwan’s eyes were calm and inscrutable as she looked away again.
Someone struck up a conversation with her, to which she briefly responded before stepping away, as if about to leave the venue.
As she passed by Wen Yangzhi, her hand brushed over his palm for a moment.
Wen Yangzhi felt a rush, and surprisingly, this rational man was effortlessly led away by her.
She left the banquet hall without changing her expression, and Wen Yangzhi paused for a second before quickly following her, disregarding that it was inappropriate for him to leave his event.
Fortunately, the executives managed to hold the fort and the merriment soon returned to normal.
Wen Yangzhi followed her silhouette down the corridor and the terrace.
Though he hadn’t seen her, he had kept up with her affairs.
Yang Ni was as detestable as ever. Knowing she had gone abroad alone, he guessed something and immediately applied to go overseas, even though it was quite difficult and took nearly a month, he was determined to leave the country.
And this was when he was about to be promoted, just so he could join her in the flower shop to arrange and sell flowers together.
According to Zhu Qing’an, no amount of beating could drive him away; even if it meant doing dirty and tiring work at her floristry company, helping her carry flower buckets, and preparing different gifts for her every day.
His connections even procured some flower varieties that weren’t available on the market and were newly developed by a research base. Yun Yuwan’s series of flower shops were so successful in Belgium that they became famous tourist attractions.
It was rumored that when he left, Yun Yuwan uncharacteristically went to see him off.
In Europe, she encountered a top male star from Neon Country on vacation, who fell in love with her at first sight and remained unreceptive to his advances.
The man boldly presented her with a skull, claiming it belonged to a Neon Country soldier from the period of resistance, insisting she accept his love, acknowledging their past faults but asserting that his love was faultless.
Although he knew she hadn’t accepted it, Wen Yangzhi knew he had to pursue her quickly, or else someone else might win her over.
At this moment, the wind rushing past his ears seemed to beat in time with a charge.
His breath came short, too impatient to wait for the elevator, and he dashed down the stairs.
Once he reached the ground floor, he saw the hotel’s empty front plaza.
He had thought he could catch up, but his heart sank as he moved forward.
Then he heard a noise.
He turned his head to look.
In the seductive night, a woman languidly leaned against his Rolls-Royce, casually holding a cigarette, her gaze flirtatious,
“Director Wen, long time no see.”
As her words fell, she extinguished the cigarette butt on the door of his custom-made multi-million-dollar Rolls-Royce with a casual flick.
With a lazy complaint she said, “Your precious car still catches the eye just like before.”
