Chapter 128: The Infernal Pegasus (1/2)
CHAPTER 128: THE INFERNAL PEGASUS (1/2)
The great chamber, though quiet at first, pulsed once, like the beat of a slumbering heart.
As they pushed through the doors, they found the beast standing right in the center of the room.
Its mane was still burning with eternal flames. Its eyes, molten gold. Wings spanned wide, each beat scattering sparks that burned into the stone. And atop its head, like a cursed crown, glowed a jagged horn.
And when they entered, the beast turned its head to look at them.
"Looks like it was waiting for us," Shiera muttered, summoning her weapons.
Kael’s heart pounded, not from fear, but from focus. He turned to the vampire. "You’re up, Sith."
Sith gave a slight nod with eyes gleaming crimson as she stepped forward. Beside her, Nyx snarled as it walked with her. His nine tails curled behind him like whips.
The remaining followed behind. Kael remained at the entrance of the room, keeping his distance with his eyes focused on the beast and his companions.
*Neigh*
The Infernal Pegasus readily launched itself toward the intruders like a comet of flames.
As everyone tensed a bit, Sith made her move. She charged at blurring speeds, appearing beside Pegasus. Her hands clung onto the Pegasus as it flew at Nyx, the beast that escaped others.
But then, before it even reached the wolf, Sith opened her fangs, which were slightly enlarged and sharpened, intending to sink them into its neck. The Infernal Pegasus was forced to halt and twist midair, slamming her into the floor before it got wounded.
And just then, Nyx leapt.
He clashed midair with the creature, raising its glowing claws. The Pegasus raised its legs and tried to kick it. Its hooves clashed with Nyx’s claws. A bare scratch appeared on its hoof, giving a slight pain, but the impact sent shockwaves through the chamber. Nyx was thrown away a few meters before it slid on the floor and stopped. *Grrr*
"Support them!" Kael shouted from afar.
"I know, you don’t have to hell," Shiera muttered, slashing down her sword and unleashing a giant arc of energy toward the beast. Mia raised the staff, muttering the incantation of the spell, unleashing energy ropes.
Orion raised his shield, charging with Leiza, intending to shield her as she approached the beast.
*Neigh*
The Pegasus screamed in fury, releasing a torrent of flames on all sides, attacking everyone at the same time.
"Careful."
Orion put the brake on his legs and grabbed Leiza to pull her behind him before slamming the shield to the ground.
"Shield of Aegis."
A large wall of energy appeared before Orin and Leiza. The flames hit the wall, but Orin started sliding back. The flames were pushing him. "Argh..." He clenched his teeth, pressing the shield more to the ground, and used his entire mana to keep it steady.
Meanwhile, Shiera jumped high and leaped backward to a safe distance. Mia’s energy ropes were burned away by the flames. She readily dismisses it and charges away to her safety, too.
However, Nyx and Sith didn’t move.
They seemed like they were enveloped by flames.
"No, Nyx..." Mia screamed...
But it was that moment the flames suddenly died down, and Sith was seen above Pegasus’ head, hanging vertically down, her dress seemed tattered, almost exposing her mounds, and also her flawless milky-white skin. But no one’s attention was on her figure. Instead, they saw a black titanium dagger in her hand that was piercing the Infernal Pegasus’ eye.
*Awoooo*
And then Nyx, which seemed unharmed, howling like a storm, tackled the beast and dragged it from mid-air. The two crashed into the stone floor with Nyx’s fangs on Pegasus’ neck. Sith landed gracefully on the floor with the dagger.
The beast trembled a bit, unleashing dark flames this time. Nyx blasted away and slid on the floor. It whimpered in pain, with a clear wound on its body this time.
However, Sith was already by the beast with her dagger by the time. Scarlet energy chains erupted from her when the beast tried to pay attention to the new threat.
Not giving any opportunity to counterattack or escape, the vampire pinned the creature’s left wing with one of the chains, two of its legs, its neck, and its body, all of which were successively pinned by the scarlet chains.
Whimpering in pain, the pegasus tried to conjure the flames, but the scarlet chains didn’t melt away. They stood sturdily.
*Thud*
Stomping onto its face, Sith raised the dagger, "Come out, Ifrit."
The black titanium dagger, enveloped with flames, before a demonic fire spirit, Ifrit, erupted from it.
"Consume its flames." Sith gave the order. The Jinn looked down at the beast and let out a malicious grin, flying toward it.
As Ifrit continued to consume its flames like a hungry pig, the aura of the Pegasus became smaller and smaller. Its life force is seen dwindling, and so are its natural flames over its mane and tail.
Everyone else. Mia, Shiera, Orion, and Leiza... they all stood off to the side, staring in quiet disbelief.
The last time they fought, they were utterly helpless.
This time, they barely did anything. The vampire and the wolf did everything. Basically, this is like Kael’s solo dungeon raid this time.
They weren’t jealous, though, as they could feel the power difference now.
Shiera folded her arms. "Damn, never in the world did I thought that Kael would actually contribute more to end the boss. No, he completely dominated."
The rest couldn’t help but glance behind. Kael slowly stepped into the boss’ room finally. He walked past them. They just stood and watched as Kael approached Nyx and caressed its fur. "You did well, Nyx." After feeding a healing potion and sending it back into his mindscape.
And then, Kael looked at the vampire, who was smiling quite happily as it was watching the beast die. "Okay, Sith. Stop it now."
"Hmm?" Sith’s smile was frozen, blinking at him.
"Leave it." Kael gave the order. Sith nodded, "Okay." With a snap of its fingers, it sent Ifrit back into the dagger.
"I mean completely," Kael said again. Sith blinked but nodded again, retrieving her chains that pierced and pinned down the pegasus. However, the creature didn’t stand up. Due to the loss of life force and mana, it lay there, waiting for its death.
