CHAPTER 146: A RIGHTEOUS DEMON VS AN EVIL ANGEL (2/3)

A few moments later;

Azazel’s body slammed into the earth, the ground shattering beneath him like glass. A plume of dust shot upward.

Kael didn’t wait. He landed atop Azazel with his daggers raised, both enveloped by dark primordial flames.

Azazel’s eyes snapped open, and he raised his hand. "Ahhhh"

A ripple of divine magic pulsed outward through his palms, striking Kael on the chest, flinging him backward like a ragdoll. He crashed into a broken mausoleum wall, shattering it upon impact.

Azazel slowly rose with his wings spread wide, his chest heaving, although the glowing "X" Kael carved still pulsing with primordial flames. His hands trembled from rage.

The earlier arrogance, playfulness, and dominance from Azazel’s face died down while Kael seemed like he was filled with enjoyment.

As Azazel lifted both hands, chains of radiant light erupted from the sky, cascading toward Kael like divine spears. Kael leapt, flipping midair, dodging one, two, but the third pierced his shoulder, pinning him to a tree.

Kael let out a grunt, then smirked. The wound began healing around the chain itself, trapping it inside his body.

"You’re starting to look worried, Azazel." Kael grinned maliciously, yanking the chain out, his blood sizzling as it struck the ground. "Why? Finally realized that you are too weak to battle me?"

Azazel narrowed his eyes. "I’m just annoyed that a half-breed insect is wasting my time."

Suddenly, Azazel clapped his hands together, creating a celestial sigil in the air. The entire battlefield pulsed. Then, time slowed around him.

Kael felt it instantly; it was like his body was moving underwater, every blink delayed by a fraction of a second.

Meanwhile, Azazel surged forward, faster than before. His fist slammed into Kael’s face, followed by a flurry of attacks that struck faster than lightning. Each blow left trails of divine energy that exploded on contact.

Kael was thrown through the air, crashing and rolling across the dirt.

Azazel descended with his blade-arm aimed at Kael’s heart, intending to destroy the source of his powers.

However, Kael twisted, barely avoiding it. The blade pierced the ground beside his head, sending a column of energy skyward.

"Time magic?" Kael grinned even more, blood running down his brow. "Haha, this looks even more fun. But, it won’t work for a long time... O, fallen divine being."

Azazel frowned. "The longer the fight is going on, the more he is drawing power from his demon’s heart. His power levels have already reached 8%. I can’t let it reach 15% or else, he would be able to unlock Satan’s true transformation."

In the meantime, Kael’s skin rippled, his demonic heart pulsed again. The time magic around him began to fracture, demonic energy pushing back against the spell.

With more and more demonic energy poured into his limbs, Kael’s body moved faster than before. He blinked past Azazel and slashed his calf, spinning mid-air and cutting the angel’s side once again.

Azazel grunted, grabbing Kael’s throat mid-spin and slamming him into the dirt again. Kael coughed up blood, but his grin remained on his face. "You’re slowing down."

BOOM!

Kael erupted with demonic energy, blasting Azazel off his feet. His demonic wings expanded fully, bathed in scarlet light, and the earth beneath him cracked and lifted like plates in an earthquake.

"Let me show you a trick I just learned..."

Kael pressed both palms together. A large seal appeared on the ground, beneath their feathers.

"Hellflare Spiral."

A spiral of hellfire shot up from beneath Azazel, coiling like a serpent of pure destruction. "No..." Azazel tried to escape, flapping his wings, but the fire caught him mid-flight and wrapped around his body, dragging him into the sky.

BOOM!

A heavy explosion was seen in the sky, momentarily lighting up a large part of the surroundings before it dimmed, and a figure slowly fell down with a heavy thud.

Kael fell to one knee, panting. His injuries healed instantly once again by demonic power, but he started feeling dizzy.

In the crater nearby, where Azazel fell, the latter slowly got up to his feet in the end; His armor was half-melted, wings singed, and part of his face bore burn scars from the primordial flames that even divine regeneration failed to erase. "Curse you, mortal..." He growled in rage.

Flapping his wings, he flew into the sky once again, ignoring his state. He raised his hand, stretching above his head, burning out his divine essence in order to unleash his next attack.

The red sky cracked like glass at once, and from it descended twelve celestial lances. They hovered in a ring above him, spinning slowly, each tip aimed at Kael.

Kael, breathing heavily but unwavering, held his daggers tight. Pouring a bit of demonic power into the daggers, he resummoned the primordial flames around the daggers.

Azazel then spoke aloud. "Behold, my ultimate technique. Twelve Lances of Dominion. These might be a mere copy of the original, but still they contain atleast one tenth of the original pillars of heaven, forged by my eldest brother and our King, Lucifer. Those were once used to kill the original Satan, and Lucifer used his power to assimilate his strength into himself and became the Archdevil, attaining a power equivalent to that of even Mikael. And today, I’m using these against you."

He snapped his fingers.

SHOOM.

The first lance was hurled toward Kael at impossible speed. He dodged left. barely, but the second followed, curving mid-air. He parried it with a dagger, sparks flying, and was forced back.

The third and fourth came together... Kael dropped to a knee, letting them graze over his shoulders, cutting shallow wounds, but it was healed instantly.

The rest came like a rainstorm.

Kael blurred into motion, his form moving like shadows in firelight, dodging, ducking, weaving through death. He twisted mid-air and deflected two lances into the ground. A third clipped his leg, sending him tumbling across the dirt.

He came up fast, bleeding, limping, but with a wild, defiant grin. "That’s all you’ve got, after so much boasting?"

Azazel’s smile turned dark. He clicked his tongue.

The lances turned around in midair and fired again, this time in unison.

Kael’s wings shot wide. He released both daggers; they spun in the air, and his hands burned with sigils as a spell appeared in his mind on its own.

"Infernal Art: Mirror of Malice!"

A wall of swirling black flame rose before him. The lances struck it and rebounded, some to the sky, others straight back at Azazel, but with hell flames attached to them.

One struck his arm.

Azazel hissed in pain and waved it off, but the surprise was evident. "Damn it. His powers rose touched 10% and even my ultimate technique failed."

He gritted his teeth. "I need to finish him now."

With a scream, Kael then lunged forward with daggers in hand, wings propelling him like a bullet.

Azazel met him with a glowing sword of light, conjured from the halo above his head. Their blades clashed, sending shockwaves across the graveyard.

Their clash moved like lightning. Azazel parried Kael’s curved daggers, only to have one slice the air beside his ear. Kael dodged a divine sword thrust, spun low, and slashed Azazel’s thigh.

They separated, both breathing hard.

Kael was clearly healing faster. His skin had closed over wounds Azazel had only just inflicted, while Azazel’s divine aura flickered.
