CHAPTER 1209: CHAPTER 239: DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT LAYING A FINGER—PREGNANT? (PART 7)
Ji Yunya blurted out instinctively: "We can’t go to the hospital."
Yun Ya looked over in surprise: "Why not?"
Ji Yunya realized her slip-up and quickly smiled: "If you go to the hospital as soon as you arrive here, people who don’t know might think that you’re from Jiangnan and too delicate to handle the northern cold. It wouldn’t look good if that spread around. Especially since your status with Brother Yan Song isn’t settled yet, you definitely can’t afford any mishaps. How about this, I know an old Chinese medicine doctor. I’ll bring him to see you in secret, without alerting anyone. If there’s something wrong, we’ll just take medicine, and if not, you’ll worry less. What do you think?"
If she and Yan Song went to the hospital for a check-up, what if they really found out she was pregnant? By then the engagement might just turn into a wedding.
She still hadn’t figured out what to do but she was certain she needed to keep it under wraps. She couldn’t let anyone know Ji Yunya was pregnant, including herself, until she figured it out.
Actually, whether she was pregnant or not was just Ji Yunya’s own guess, but she couldn’t take the gamble in case.
Yun Ya furrowed her brows, walked over, and took her hand: "You’ve thought this through. I’ll listen to you, Miss Meng. I didn’t expect you to be considerate on my behalf, thank you."
Ji Yunya felt that Yun Ya’s hand was so cold, it made her heart tremble, and then she smiled: "You are Brother Yan Song’s fiancée, which makes you my future sister-in-law. You’re not familiar with life in the Capital City, so of course, I should think more on your behalf. We are about the same age, just call me Ah Ci."
Yun Ya smiled: "Ah Ci, then you can call me Yun Ya."
The two quickly became closer.
"Let’s go back together so Brother Yan Song won’t be worried."
Yun Ya nodded.
As she watched Ji Yunya’s retreating figure, a cold glint passed through Yun Ya’s eyes, and her hand instinctively rested on her lower abdomen.
She really hoped she was pregnant, but unfortunately...
These women who were eyeing Brother Yan, she needed to root them out one by one like pulling out nails, especially this Ji Yunya. From the first glance, she had felt uncomfortable, and when she was uncomfortable, no one else should feel at ease.
When they returned, seeing that their relationship had become much closer, Yan Song raised an eyebrow at Yun Ya, who smiled and shook her head.
"Brother Yan, I’m tired, I want to go home."
Yan Xing shrank her head; when the two weren’t there earlier, she didn’t know how awkward the atmosphere was and wished she could shrink into a shell.
Yan Song put his arm around Yun Ya’s waist, called over a waiter: "Check, please."
"Hello, sir, the total is eight hundred thirty-seven yuan."
Mai Zheng searched all over himself but couldn’t find his wallet, only to remember he had rushed out in a hurry and hadn’t brought it. He watched as Yan Song handed over a Black Gold Card with a very unpleasant expression.
Once again, he came up short in front of that man.
The group left the restaurant; it was already late at night. A thick layer of snow had accumulated on the ground, and there were fewer cars on the road. Only the streetlights emitted a faint light.
"Mai Zheng, let’s get together another time, bye-bye." Yun Ya nestled in Yan Song’s embrace, waving at him, and as soon as she finished speaking, she was carried into the car by Yan Song.
Yan Xing hesitantly walked up to Mai Zheng, handed him a piece of paper, and traced circles in the snow with her toes: "This... this is my contact information, you... take it." With those words, she quickly stuffed it into Mai Zheng’s arms and darted into the car.
Watching as the car drove off into the distance until it disappeared, Mai Zheng looked up at the sky and smiled bitterly.
With hands in his pockets, he slowly walked along the roadside, his tall and slender back filled with infinite loneliness.
Passing by a trash can, he mercilessly tossed the piece of paper in his hand into it, letting it blend with the trash, continuing his steps without stopping, getting farther and farther away.
The car stopped outside the Meng Family Villa. Before getting out, Ji Yunya glanced at Yun Ya, who gave her a smile, and only then did Ji Yunya feel reassured enough to open the car door and step out.
Yan Xing had already fallen asleep leaning against the car window, blowing bubbles with a dreamy expression, who knows what she was dreaming about, chuckling foolishly.
As the car drove off again, snowflakes danced outside, and Yun Ya snuggled in Yan Song’s arms, feeling sleepy.
Yan Song’s hands, however, didn’t behave themselves, "When did you and she become so close?"
Yun Ya softly protested, pushing his hands away: "Don’t I have the right to make friends?"
Yan Song breathed in her ear: "That woman has ulterior motives, stay away from her."
Yun Ya gave him a sideways glance with a smile: "Oh, so you know she has ulterior motives too..."
Yan Song’s fingers stroked her cheek: "I don’t want you to be so tired."
Yun Ya touched his nose with hers, "I’m willing..."
In the next moment, she was abruptly pushed against the car window by Yan Song. His hand cushioned the back of her head to protect it from hitting, as he looked deeply into her eyes. The cramped car’s atmosphere instantly turned ambiguous.
Yun Ya slightly lowered her head: "Don’t... Yan Xing is still here...."
Without listening to explanation, Yan Song lifted her chin and captured her lips, a domineering and intense energy overwhelmed her, almost drowning all of Yun Ya’s reasoning.
The coat suddenly covered Yan Xing, wrapping her face securely. She smacked her lips and fell into a deeper sleep.
Outside, snowflakes were twirling, the world was frozen, while inside the car was an escalating heat, a collision of passion.
