CHAPTER 1245: CHAPTER 244: YAN HE TAKES THE STAGE—COURTESY BEFORE FORCE (PART 6)
Yan He married into the Xiao Family, only to be tormented by them. How could Shu Tiancheng stand by and watch her jump into the fire pit? No one dared to touch this hot potato, and no one wanted to provoke Counselor Xiao’s father-in-law. Shu Tiancheng had hit a steel wall.
In the end, Shu Tiancheng could only watch as Yan He married into the Xiao Family. He died of a heart attack on the wedding day. After marriage, Yan He was horribly tormented by the Xiao Family, sometimes mad, sometimes lucid. She planned to escape, wanting to take Ji Yunya down with her before she died, but how could some people give her this chance? Each time she was caught, the torture grew more brutal, and eventually, Xiao Wei strangled her on the bed during one of his assaults. It was only in her dying moments that she understood how pathetic her life had been; she realized who had led to her grandfather’s downfall. She was wrong. Tears of regret finally flowed, but by then, she had no choices left; she was about to go to the heavens to find her grandfather.
Yan Song, if there is a next life, do not let me meet you again.
With unwillingness, she closed her eyes.
After Yan He’s death, the Xiao Family claimed she died of illness and disposed of her body, covering everything up. Yan He left quietly, as if she had never been in this world.
And Yan He’s death became a weakness of the Xiao Family, grasped by someone, even turning her death into a knife in others’ hands.
But that is a story for another time.
After Xiao Wei was sent to the hospital, the Shu Family was not at peace that night. Shu Tiancheng was anxious, afraid that if something happened to Xiao Wei, Counselor Xiao would blame him, so he decided to go to the hospital first.
The moment he left, a maid slipped out the back door, moving agilely like a leopard in the night.
A military vehicle was parked in the remote area behind the door. The woman stood in front of the car door, respectfully saying, "Mission complete."
"Very good." The car window slid down slowly, revealing the side profile of a man—handsome, cold, and stern, like a sharply polished sword, its edge hidden.
His eyes were hawkishly sharp, yet like a thousand-year-old ice, causing fear in anyone who gazed upon them.
The woman bowed her head; some people can only look up to others. If she had dared to harbor any other thoughts, she would end up like Yan He.
"Your assessment is over. Return to the team."
The woman was overjoyed, bowing her head, "Yes."
"Get in the car."
The woman opened the passenger door and sat inside. The car pulled away, driving from the city center to the Xi Mountain Suburb, through areas barren of people.
Up on Panshan Road, the terrain was steep, allowing only one vehicle at a time. Red signal lights occasionally flickered in the night sky, shining like stars—they were patrol drones.
After a long drive, a massive military base appeared ahead. Soldiers checked them at the gate; the window lowered halfway, a document was handed over, and the soldier glanced at it, quickly straightening up and saluting.
"Sir."
With both hands, he respectfully returned the document; the window shut again, the gate opened, and the car drove in smoothly.
The base was lively even at night, with soldiers training on the field, their chants shaking the air. The military vehicle drove past the field and finally stopped in front of a building.
Someone jogged over and opened the door, "Boss, you’re finally here."
The person was in camouflage, with a head of yellow hair that revealed a wide grin of white teeth when he smiled.
The man stepped down with long strides, straightening his military uniform, tall and upright, standing there like a straight gun.
So handsome it made others envious.
The woman followed down, Yellow Hair’s eyes lit up upon seeing her, "Where did this beauty come from?"
"Codename Fox, from now on, she’ll be with you." With that, he strode into the building.
Yellow Hair chuckled, getting close to the woman, "What’s your name, beautiful?"
The woman smiled sweetly, appearing very lovely and obedient, "The captain just said, Fox." She lifted her foot to follow inside.
"I mean your real name, not your codename." Yellow Hair jogged to keep up.
They entered the building, arrived at an elevator on the east side of the first floor, next to a machine. Yan Song stepped over, and the machine emitted a green light, scanning his eyes, followed by a mechanical female voice, "Verification successful."
The elevator doors opened slowly.
Yan Song stepped inside, turned around, and said to Yellow Hair, "Take her for identity verification first."
He tossed the documents into his arms.
The elevator doors closed slowly; instead of going up, it descended. Yan Song closed his eyes slightly, and after an unknown duration, the elevator finally stopped, and the doors opened slowly, revealing a whole new world.
