CHAPTER 42: 039 STIRRING THE MUDDY WATER TO CATCH FISH
"Lady Yun should come out more often when she has time in the future; we sisters yearn for it."
"I certainly will, and at that time, I’ll need all of you to take more care of me."
"Hey, Lady Yun is being too modest. I’m afraid it’s we who will need Lady Yun’s care in the future," Young Lady Kang said with a meaningful undertone.
Yun Shu glanced at her and nodded lightly.
"Lady Yun?" A questioning, clear female voice rang out, its tone remarkably gentle, yet for some reason, it made everyone’s ears uncomfortably tingle.
They all turned their heads and saw Zhuang Xiyue standing quietly in the dimly lit area, wearing a treasure blue off-the-shoulder gown, her eyes and brows picturesque, graceful and dignified, her beauty spellbinding.
She was a woman of outstanding temperament.
If Yun Shu were compared to wine, aged and increasingly aromatic over time, deserving of a slow and appreciative taste,
Zhuang Xiyue, then, was like a poem, ever fresh through the ages, undisturbed by honors or disgrace, as fleeting winds leave no trace, her calm and composed elegance compelling respect.
On recognizing the newcomer, Yun Shu’s smile became more familiar, "Lady Yan, it has been too long."
Zhuang Xiyue let out a light chuckle: "Indeed, it has been too long."
There was a moment of awkwardness in the air. Yun Shu narrowed her eyes slightly. The other’s words were spiked, and she contemplated when she might have offended this Lady Yan. In the end, she concluded that this was their first encounter.
"I didn’t expect Lady Yan to grace my banquet with her presence, it certainly brightens this simple abode." It seemed Yun Shen had thoroughly learned from Yun Shu’s way of flattering without a hint of subservience.
Kang Jinse glanced at her with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile, "Lady Yun, you flatter me."
Her gaze swept over Yun Ya, who was obediently following at Yun Shu’s side, showing no sign of mistreatment, which made her breathe a sigh of relief.
She was overly worried, after all; Yun Ya was her own granddaughter. It was unlikely she would mistreat Yun Ya, right?
"Ah..." A scream pierced through the liveliness of the party. Everyone paused, exchanging glances.
What happened?
The sound came from the rest area on the left, originally a dining room that had been temporarily converted for relaxation. Behind the rest area was a guest room for the attendees to rest.
In the next instant, a woman in a red gown ran out from inside, her face flushed as she noticed everyone looking at her – her face turned beet red as if she were a cooked shrimp.
Yun Shu frowned slightly and was about to speak when Zhuang Xiyue beat her to the question, "Miss Zhao, what happened?"
Miss Zhao bit her lip, apparently with some difficulty in speaking.
Yun Shu had a bad feeling deep inside; she sensed that she should stop Miss Zhao from speaking further right away. Stepping forward, she said, "Miss Zhao might be tired, Aunt Yun, please take Miss Zhao to rest in a guest room and make sure she is well cared for."
With a shifting gaze, Zhuang Xiyue suddenly laughed softly, "Lady Yun, why the rush? It seems Miss Zhao has something she wants to say."
She turned to look at Miss Zhao, "Miss Zhao, this is a banquet after all. You must know that everyone’s paying attention to your every move. Don’t you want to avoid leaving the impression of being flustered and frivolous?"
Miss Zhao immediately shook her head, her face red as she waved her hands, "Not at all." She pointed towards the guest room behind her, "Inside there is someone..."
Zhuang Xiyue raised an eyebrow, "Someone inside scared Miss Zhao to this extent? Your courage is truly too slight."
Miss Zhao was somewhat embarrassed. That Lady Yan was truly formidable—every sentence seemed designed to drag her into the mud. However, Miss Zhao was quick to react, and in order to clear herself, she immediately yelled, "Someone inside is having an affair, indecent exposure, I didn’t do it on purpose."
She glanced at Kang Jinse, sympathy flashing in her eyes, which Kang Jinse caught.
Kang Jinse felt a twinge in her heart, her fingers nervously twisting the hem of her dress.
An affair?
This was truly sensational, and everyone’s faces showed an interested expression.
Yun Shu’s face, however, turned ugly. Having this kind of scandal occur at her banquet, if word got out, it would reflect poorly on her. She cursed the shameless couple in her heart for not finding a better place, while discreetly signaling Aunt Yun with her eyes.
Aunt Yun got the message and quietly headed toward the room.
However, Miss Zhao had come out in such a hurry that she hadn’t closed the door properly, and the woman’s sultry moans came intermittently through the crack in the door, causing everyone’s expressions to turn incredibly awkward.
Someone commented, "That voice, why does it sound so familiar?"
Yun Shu clenched her teeth and stepped forward with a smile, "Maybe it’s a pair of young lovers? We shouldn’t disturb them at this time. Let’s show them a bit more tolerance."
It was unknown who quietly approached the guest room and pushed open the door, instantly exposing everything inside to the crowd.
In the ambiguous and dim light, a pair of naked, entwined man and woman were cast in an especially hazy light.
The woman’s dress and underwear stretched from the doorway to the bed, indicating a fierce encounter, and the air was filled with a lewd and loving atmosphere.
The scene was too stimulating. Some women had already covered their eyes, but still couldn’t help peeking through their fingers.
Perhaps feeling cold, the woman turned her head towards the door. Her face was flushed from the aftermath of passion, her eyes alluring and hazy.
Suddenly she stiffened, screamed, and forcefully pushed the man off of her, grabbing a blanket to wrap around herself.
"Get out... all of you, get out."
This woman, wasn’t she Bai Ran, the young Miss from the Bai Family?
Indeed, she was of a wild and unbridled nature, unable to resist seeking out men even during the banquet.
The women looked on with contempt, the men with amusement. That fleeting glimpse of her delicate body...tut tut, truly unforgettable...
The man, caught off guard by Bai Ran’s push, fell seated onto the bed. Under the light, the man’s features were illuminated with utmost clarity.
Handsome yet aloof, a bead of sweat rolled down his cheek, adding an inexplicable sexiness, especially his muscular chest, making many women involuntarily swallow.
The man’s face still bore traces of lust not yet faded. He sat there in a daze and thus, his expression seemed somewhat terrifying.
At the first sight of that man, Yun Shu’s heart sank to the bottom.
Kang Jinse stepped back in disbelief, her heart aching as she looked at the two of them.
Yun Ya surveyed the room, everyone’s faces going from disbelief to dawning comprehension, enjoying the drama. She curved her lips in a slight smile, sweet and innocent.
The murkier the waters, the easier it is to fish in troubled waters.
