CHAPTER 473: UNIQUE PIGS

The King of the Forest lost his hand in the process after Shardu attacked him, but he didn’t surrender. He is still eager to fight, and it seems he is undergoing berserk mode as his hair starts growing longer and his eyes have turned redder. Black markings that resemble a tattoo start to appear on the King of the Forest’s skin and glow with an ominous aura.

"Just because you are in the upper hand doesn’t mean I will lose this fight!" and without batting an eye, he picked up his axe that was toppled after his dominant hand was torn off and lodged the handle of the axe straight to his severed hand’s former position.

Elaina, who was looking on the side, was surprised by the development and wasn’t even expecting the axe would actually stick to the severed arm and replace the lost part. One could wince just by watching him forcefully lodge the handle into his flesh.

Elaina is ready to give backup to Shardu, but Shardu blocks Elaina’s path, and thanks to the translation, Shardu tells Elaina to go to the side.

"[Boss, I appreciate your help, but I would like to be the one who will deal with this guy!]"

Hearing this, Elaina decided to step out of the battle. She can handle the Greater Ogre just fine even on her own but if Shardu wanted to do it, there is no reason for Elaina to steal her quarry.

Instead of watching the battle and see the situation unfold, Elaina’s eyes landed on the current stuff the Greater Ogres have in their camp site.

Unlike temporary outposts which can be abandoned anytime, they are in for the long haul here and considering that they are staying there for a long time, they have started cultivating cattle for their own consumption.

And one of them are none other than the wild pigs. Unlike domisticated pigs, these pigs are capable scavengers and for some unknown reasons, they are also good mushroom growers as natural mushrooms grow on their back. These pigs are more on mushrooms instead of their meats.

Elaina wanted to find one before but considering that she has no idea where to start looking for one, she wanted to ask the Goddess of Taming back then but that was also the time that goddess has disappeared.

She decided to read some books about these animals and it didn’t take her long to find them the easiest is to look for Greater Ogres and trade for them as the Greater Ogres cultivate, tame and even mass breed their species to be used as food and source of mushroom which is part of Greater Ogre tribes’ dishes.

So hearing that Shardu plans to raid an outpost of Greater Ogres that plans to attack the town, Elaina took the chance to deal with the enemies and to also find the pigs she was looking for.

"Wow, we got seven pigs with three of them being female. A great haul for me!"

While the Greater Ogres are busy fighting everyone else, Elaina took advantage of the chaos to stash the Wild Pigs to her cages and leave the area to fully claim them as hers.

As she was capturing the pigs and storing them on the cages, she soon noticed two pigs inside two different cages inside the pen. They aren’t domisticated pigs nor they are wild pigs. They are entirely different.

Their backs...there are shrubs growing in their backs.

"What the hell?" Elaina was surprised.

She touched the cage of the pigs and opened her Almanac, revealing that the pigs before her are a new entire breed that are different from the previous pigs.

Information: Grower Pig is a result of mutation of genes and selective breeding of either Wild pigs or Domesticated pigs in a controlled manner. Considering they are not a natural existence, no one else knows about them except for a few people who have accidentally satisfied the condition to breed these pigs to existence.

Their backs are like fertile soil and they grow various plants on their backs like vegetable crops or shrubs. The plants on their back refresh with a new one every time their old plants have been harvested or eaten by other animals, allowing them to have different produce everytime and considering these crops doesn’t care about seasons, one can expect a summer crop in the middle of winter growing from their backs. And good news as those produce are also edible and for some reason, the growth rate of the plants growing on their backs are accelerated, making them grow twice as fast as the regular crop.

Although unique and not a natural existence, they can reproducw their kind if they mate with another one of their species. It won’t work if they mate with a wild pig or a domisticated pig. Unlike regular and wild pigs, their flesh are disgusting to eat, and reports have said the flesh tasted like mud and soil mixed together.

Elaina was surprised reading this. A pig that wasn’t meant to be slaughtered because their flesh tasted like soil? That is a first for her. Not only that but their backs grow various crops and plants that one can expect a summer crop during winter? One will not believe her if she told them this. And yet, here we are.

Not only that but considering that these pigs are mutated versions of either the Wild pigs or Domesticated pigs are something else as well. In short, they are something that would not exist naturally unless it was by an outside intervention which would be by achieving a specific way to breed them to existence. And the fact that two of them are currently alive inside the cage means the Greater Ogres in this camp have successfully cultivated and breed these pigs to existence without relying on luck!

Since they can produce another grower pig if they breed with another grower pig, Elaina checks the gender of both pigs and she was delighted to see they are a pair.

"Goddess of Taming, considering they are not a natural kind of animal and they are not monsters but are considered as something wild, does that mean if I catch these two, they would be registered to me?" Elaina asked for confirmation.

"[At first, this shouldn’t be countee but considering this is a new species and I want you to give me information more about them, I wanted you to get them, tame them and find out how they are breed to the existence of this world. It will naturally contribute to your taming level of course.]"

With that confirmation, Elaina didn’t wait for the Goddess of Taming about it and take the pigs with her. As she finished taking the pigs to the cages, it seems that Shardu and the King of the Forest has finally come to an end.
