A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods
Chapter 475: Greater Ogre Tribe
CHAPTER 475: GREATER OGRE TRIBE
The supposed great disaster has been averted, causing no waves of problems that should have happened if everyone involved in the raid earlier had not stepped in to stop it from happening. But thanks to their preemptive attack, the supposedly planned raid that would actually claim hundreds of lives before they are stopped would end up not occurring at all.
And all of this is thanks to Gobruk, the son of the perpetrator of the planned raid. If not for his actions, perhaps Elaina would not be aware of this, and the farm would be dragged into another problem alongside the town’s destruction.
With all the problems gone, the group returns to the farm, now resting after the problems. Aside from Elaina, who did not participate in the battle, everyone wanted to lie down and have a good rest. The one who suffered the most wounds is Shardu, and although those wounds are trivial and quite light, Shardu still has to heal them up and have ample of rest.
As everyone heads to rest, Gobruk is going back to his tribe. Of course, he looked at Elaina with hope that the promise that has to be fulfilled if he agreed to the demand would be completed.
"Gobruk will return with the tribe. Promise before, want it to be fulfilled."
Elaina nodded. "Living and serving on the farm while also expecting protection from problems right? Don’t worry, Shardu might be the one who gave that proposal but I am not against it. However, discuss this matter with everyone in your tribe first. Don’t force them to come and live in this farm as they would be unsatisfied with it. Bring those who are willing to go with you."
Gobruk nodded before he left and headed back to the forest. As for Elaina, she hoped that if Gobruk does come back, he won’t be bringing too many Greater Ogre at once. Her farm might be big but that doesn’t mean it was big enough to help occupy a whole tribe. There’s only so much space she can offer after all.
...
...
...
But the next day, Elaina’s fear came true. It was still early morning and she was still prepping to begin her daily work especially since she has to tend on her new pigs and also check out on the one new species of pig she got yesterday. She was still on the porch and currently sipping hot coffee to fully awaken her tired body when all of a sudden, she heard noises not too far from the farm.
Even Shardu who was sleeping perked up and look at the direction Elaina was looking at. There on the entrance of the farm is Gobruk, followed by Greater Ogres of various ages. Big and small, child and adult.
While Elaina is observing how many Greater Ogres are up, Yona went out of her house, still sleepy. It seems that the barrier alarms that she has been maintaining rings a lot of alarms now that the Greater Ogres are coming and that caused her to run out of the house.
Of course, not only Yona but also Julia who also went out of the farmhouse with her hair messy hair also went outside, most probably like how Yona felt the alarms.
"Sis? What is going on?! I receive multiple alarms that there are entities approaching the barrier!"
Elaina chuckled seeing Julia’s face and pat her back. "Relax, remember the Grrater Ogres that should be coming soon? Well, they are here and waiting. Let them in the barrier, we should be meeting them instead of letting them remain outside the farm."
Upon hearing that, Julia seems to have realized and understood what is happening. She sighed before she swing her hands a bit, signifying on lowering the barrier’s power to let the Greater Ogres into the farm. Yona seems to have realized it as well considering she is also helping with the work nodded at Elaina before she stretch her hands and return to her house.
"I shall return to my room for now Sis, I still feel sleepy after I stayed up late last night. Hope you understand I might wake up late."
Elaina nodded in understanding. "Sure. Just make sure you don’t wake up too late for breakfast."
Julia nodded groggily before she returned inside the farmhouse to go back to her sleep.
With the problem of the barrier gone, Elaina went out of the porch with the blessed hoe on her hand and headed to the forest entrance to welcome the Greater Ogre Tribe being led by Gobruk himself.
...
...
...
Gobruk looked serious when he was leading the tribe. Everyone is reluctant at following him after hearing the proposal for defending their lives against beasts that would come for them looking for the title that the former chief once wield. Now that the former chief is dead, they would be attacked by these beasts and considering that they aren’t totally warrior types, they would be killed and their tribe would be wiped out from the map as a result.
Their numbers aren’t that many. During the last few months, deaths have been rampant in their tribe due to some spreading sickness that even their shaman couldn’t stop. It ended up claiming almost half of the tribe’s population.
It was also the event that claimed the life of Gobruk’s little sister that the Former Chief really love as it was their youngest. When she died, that was also the beginning of the Former Chief’s descent to madness that spiraled to what ended up happening and leaving Gobruk to fully do it on his own hands to deal with his father.
Since their tribe has been reduced to a vulnerable state, only a few Greater Ogres are left behind to defend the tribe. What is worse is that majority of the able bodied male Greater Ogres have also chosen to follow their Former Chief’s descent to madness and ended up dying, leaving only a handful of male ogres that can actually do something.
This also resulted in Gobruk accepting the offer that Shardu has given to them and that is to relocate to the farm and became part of the farm’s workforce. It might not be their ideal life but at least they can remain their neutrality while also allowing themselves to recover from the losses their tribe suffered.
So when they are finally relocating, they thought the farm is just a regular human farm. The shaman of their tribe have seen farms before and was the main reason that the whole tribe agreed with the arrangement.
But considering that Elaina’s farm is far from ordinary farm, the Greater Ogres were surprised when they are greeted with a physical barrier that is currently stopping them from entering. Even the shaman was not able to do anything about it and can’t get the barrier to be destroyed without using full force.
"Everyone, no worries. Everyone only waits. We will enter soon."
Gobruk approaches the edge of the barrier and waves his hand which allowed Elaina who is currently on the porch to see his arrival.
After a few minutes of waiting, the barrier that is blocking their progress weakens and this allowed them to enter the place without problems.
Upon entering, they have been surprised by the whole place. The place is big, much bigger than their previous territory that their tribe had. And although the farm has many land occupants, the space is still very massive that even if they rebuilt their tribe, their will still be massive land that will be left over. Now they understand on why the farm needed some hands for help. With how big this farm is, even with their help, the whole farm will not be covered well enough to get themselves to crowd the whole place.
As they are wandering around, the farmer who owned the farm approaches them with a smile. A female woman holding a farm equipment approaches them with a smile. She looks harmless at first glance but the instincts of the remaining warriors in their tribe are screaming that this human woman before them is not to be trifled with. No wonder even Gobruk said that the human woman there is someone that they should never ever mess with. If they ever try to do so, there is a chance that they might not see the next daylight again.
"Welcome to my farm. I am the owner of the farm that you all will be working on and where you will be living in from now on."
The shaman of the tribe approaches. Unlike the speech pattern of Gobruk, her speech pattern is comprehensively apt and Elaina has no problem understanding what she wanted to say. Her accent is just different.
"Thank you for accepting our tribe to work here and be part of your farm. If you promise us that you will help with defending us from danger, we will make sure that we will be repaying you with hard work in the farm. Just tell us what to do and we will be happy to do it."
Elaina chuckled. "Hey, I know that you lot are going to work for me but that doesn’t mean I am going to start drowning you all to work. Everyone are free to do what they neeeded to do, but make sure to contribute to the farm. After all, I do not want you all to think I am treating you lot as slaves."
"Is that so? But are bodies are big enough to be a big help. I thought humans would be really ecstatic on letting other races work for them to the point that they will work them to death?"
Elaina sighed. Considering that most humans do that, she doesn’t want to deny that statement. But she is different. Unless they want to overwork themselves to death, she will allow them to rest. They don’t need to be working too hard as long as they don’t just laze around without contribution.
"Don’t worry. I may be a human but I am not a slaver. Feel free to do the bare minimum of work as long as things are being done here. Work smart, not hard. Now, I think it is time for you lot to start anew, yes? Then for your first task, how about you lot settle down and build your shelters to the vacant space of my farm?"
