CHAPTER 492: TACTIC FOR MONEY CYCLE
Rakkunzansa didn’t say any additional information about the person he was recommending, as the latter currently wanted to keep itself hidden most of the time. However, one thing he knows is that this person knows a lot beyond basic agriculture and has a deeper understanding of various aspects. She is not that knowledgeable about the business side of things. Still, since Elaina said that it didn’t matter if she was not good with it, he decided to suggest her as that person was looking for a job that is related to agriculture, and so far, she has yet to find a good job in Darcero Kingdom at the moment.
Since Elaina trusts Rakkunzansa’s judgement, she allowed him to bring her in, and she will give the final verdict on whether to hire her or not. Mei and Randolph are also welcome to invite people they think need a job and can be trustworthy and industrious workers, even if they are from another race.
Mei quickly passes on the offer of finding someone to scout for the company, as most of her acquaintances are untrustworthy or just straight up irresponsible in the job, which would just make more trouble than keeping the job lighter. As for Randolph, he will also try to look for someone he can rope in, but it is not a guarantee, which is why the only person that Elaina can count on to have a sure-fire recruit to bring is none other than Rakkunzansa.
According to him, he will be bringing the person he was talking about tomorrow. Knowing this, Elaina then begins to lecture the three on the new venture of business that will be added to the current run of the business.
"Just you guys know that farmers have been in big trouble not too long ago due to the Black Plague, yes? Their goods that they have farmed have been decimated by the plague, rendering each produce that could’ve been used and sold to be useless now," Elaina started out by drawing on the whiteboard crates, which were labeled with goods, and putting a big X over them.
"True. Most of the goods that most farmers have grown this fall are gone in a flash after that. We even have a shortage of some goods that are quite needed by other kingdoms. It’s a hassle to either cancel or change their product to accommodate the loss." Mei shook her head. Considering that she is the one approving and checking the goods that should be delivered, it is a bit of a toll for her.
"Indeed. The gold we have been receiving has dipped to a new low after that. I don’t blame the farmers, though, but if we continue to dip into the red, we will have to be forced to do something," Rakkunzansa said, revealing the sales chart and the profit chart for the past few weeks. The past few weeks after the descent of the plague were in the red, and she can’t blame her workers for it.
"Let me get this straight, boss. Since most of our suppliers will have a hard time recovering from their financial losses, does that mean we will be losing a lot of profit in the next few months or even weeks?" Randolph asks, trying to confirm his fears.
"Correct. Considering that most farmers in the Darcero Kingdom suffered catastrophic losses, this is going to be a hard time for us if we don’t do anything. That’s why this business will help them start up their new business. Considering winter is about to roll out in the next few days, they will start anew, but considering they have lost their profit for the fall, they will have less budget to buy seeds, which are quite expensive, especially if bought in bulk in the local market."
"True. Seeds being sold in bulk in the market are expensive. Random bundle seeds might be cheaper in the other stores, but they are not reliable in terms of what is in season with the seeds right now, so they can’t just go and gamble their way for it and hope for a seed that corresponds with winter season, unless they have greenhouses available which only a few wealthier farmers have, not all have them," Rakkunzansa nodded in agreement.
"Which is why I will be launching a new business venture that is related to selling seeds, but unlike the prices in the market, they are cheap and good for purchase in bundles, while also ensuring these seeds are also the seeds they are looking for. I have some stock of seeds that can be resupplied for as long as the demand needs, while selling them for cheap."
"For cheap? How cheap, boss?" Rakkunzansa frowned.
"Depends on the seed. If it is the most common seed bought for bulk, around 3 gold per bundle."
"3 GOLD?! Isn’t that quite cheap?! Aren’t you losing a lot of gold in the process? Regular bundles of common seeds are costing 10 gold per bundle, but 3 gold is...is a bit too cheap!"
"Nope. I don’t lose gold in this way, and even with this amount of gold, it isn’t a bad deal, as not only the people will try to buy lots in bulk, orders will come flowing in fast."
"Is this why this can help the business? By influencing farmers to buy seeds from us for cheap, which would result in them recovering from their business, then, as a result of this newfound gratitude, they will sell their produce to us to be sold in other kingdoms. Is this how I interpret your strategy, boss?" Mei rubs her chin.
"Looks like you did understand my motive this time around, Mei. Correct. Although this business seemed like on a losing profit side, this is a way to attract more customers to use our service, and although it isn’t a guarantee that they will use our business all the time, as other buyers buy their goods, this is a good way to rekindle the suppliers that are on the verge of loss. We won’t be losing money this time around. Instead, we will be earning money in the long run."
