CHAPTER 501: THE POWER OF TELEPORTATION

Winter starts to roll in, and the snow slowly blankets the surroundings, the roads, the roofs, and the branches of trees with bundles of snow, enough to cover the area in white. People coming outside are either covered from head to toe with thick clothes just to warm them up, or those people who do feel the cold but would rather wear their regular clothes and drink coffee on their terraces.

Unlike in the past during the Endless Winter, the cleaners of the streets do not break their backs shoveling snow over and over just to clear out the snow and reveal the hidden road. Instead, the children are doing it just fine as they started playing in the snow, creating snowmen and having snowball fights. Something they couldn’t do, back then.

Nowadays, things have been consistent every winter, and that is a normal thing now. While the people of Darcero Kingdom go to do their regular routines, Elaina is currently looking at the map of the world and is checking each kingdom, and is looking for the place called "Land of the Dead."

She had heard of the place before, but because it was called that, many people preferred to stay away from that place. It was known as the product of pestilence, war, death, and many other disasters that seemed to have fallen in that place all at once. In short, it was a place that was tormented and said to be "abandoned" by the gods. Not a single purification spell works in the forsaken land to the point that not a single organism can survive the place, let alone grow something on its land.

As a result of this, Elaina is wondering how in the world is she even going to revive that land if even the basic purification spells won’t work?

Aside from that, she also received the power of teleportation from the Creator God and Elaina is not sure why she received this curious power all of a sudden. It feels convenient, yet she doesn’t even have an idea if she can cast that spell, she doesn’t have mana after all, so what will be the catch of using that spell that will allow her to substitute with mana?

She wanted to ask the God of Farming again but he isn’t available as he was still currently speaking with the Creator God about some stuff and all she can do is wait for him to return. As for the task to open the locked page of the Creator God, Elaina can only sigh as she has no idea how to deal with majority of them. The other tasks are currently on blur which is why she still couldn’t see what they are, but she is sure there are more that will be unlocked and it seems she can only see them if the first task is either complete or currently underway.

While waiting for the God of Farming, Elaina tries to locate the Land of the Dead. If she is planning to conquer that land, she needed to find it first and get permission on which place currently holds territory with it. She can’t just go and waltz in over there and claim that land all by herself.

Thankfully for her, Elaina didn’t need to look hard to find it because the Land of the Dead is a very large place. One can say that building a kingdom there and several towns is very much possible due to the size of the place. Perhaps someone would have taken the place and built a big castle and relocate their residents there if the place was a good place to grow food and if animals wander there, but since that isn’t the case, the land is left alone for many years without even showing signs of vitality that it will return to its former beauty.

While making mental notes on her head, the God of Farming returns and it seems that he is done with the talks with the Creator God.

"[I am back, Elaina. So, what did the Creator God added to the Almanac so far?]"

"I still didn’t check it as I am still wondering on how I might even achieve the task he put up as the first task which needed for me to reclaim a place that is practically a cursed land by now without any chances of anything growing there. It is even worse than a desert since a desert can at least have a few plants and cacti growing around, Land of the Dead is practically a wasteland without any way to convert the dead matter there into something usable."

The God of Farming chuckled. "[Wow, looks like the Creator God gave you a very important job huh? That thing is something he wanted to be done as soon as possible. But considering that he cannot interact with it personally due to the restrictions that seems to bind him from doing so, that place remains untouchable to this day. Perhaps he wanted to see if you can actually fulfill the mission. Anyways, the Teleportation power the Creator God gave you might be something that will be put to good use with this. You can use that to travel to the Land of the Dead back to your farm in just a jiffy.]"

"Wait a minute there, God of Farming. I know you are happy that I receive a blessing from the Creator God Himself, but considering that I am not capable of using magic due to my body lacking any sort of ways to channel mana naturally, I can’t use it to do teleportation!"

"[What are you talking about? You didn’t set up the Teleportation Doorway yet?]"

"T-teleportation what?" Elaina frowned. This is the first time she have heard of that term.

"[Wait, don’t tell me I didn’t tell you the power of your teleportation and how it is different from the usual teleportation magic you have used before?]"

Elaina shakes her head. He didn’t say anything at all, making Elaina confused when he bring up something that she didn’t even know.

"[Ah, crap. I forgot to even explain things, no wonder you seemed to clueless and you still haven’t done it yet, I didn’t make things clear for you. Alright, listen. First, you need to designate a doorway. It doesn’t matter what kind of doorway, as long as it is a doorway.]"

Elaina scratches her head but follows the instructions and went to the front doorway. "Alright, what’s next?"

"[Next, summon the Almanac. That is the one that will channel the necessary things for the teleportation process to work. Summon it while standing in front of the designated doorway and flip the almanac’s first page. Touch the first page once to assign the doorway you are facing as the designated doorway we will use later. And don’t worry if you changed your mind, we can also remove the designation area and instead relocate to a new place, as long as the new place is just another doorway. For now, we should use this as a form of test.]"

Elaina followed the instructions and the doorway in front of her glows bright blue while a swirling image appears before the doorway.

"[Looks like the pathway is now ready, now for the final part to make the teleportation work, first, bring up the Almanac Map. I know you don’t use it since you have a bigger map, but this time, the map in the Almanac will now be useful. Touch the Land of the Dead portion of the map to assign as our destination for the doorway.]"

She followed the instructions and check the map and made sure she is looking at the right Land of the Dead. After making sure it was the right one, she touch the drawing of the Land of the Dead in the map and the doorway lightens up and a white light appears before her. The swirling effect that was present before are gone and is instead being replaced with a wasteland where not a single plant can be seen all around, not even signs or remnants that trees grow on that land, just a barren black place.

"[Looks like we are successful, Elaina. Now, to test it, you can enter the doorway and experience it yourself.]"

Elaina looked at the doorway and although she hesitates at first, she decided to do it immediately. Tightly holding her sword, she slowly steps into the doorway and a familiar light pulls her through. This is the same light that engulfs people whenever they teleport and Elaina experienced this during the first time she escaped Luminiera Kingdom, albeit, that one is a short range teleportation, meant only to move far from enough to escape without alerting the guards. Unlike that one, this one is connecting a place that needed one to cross multiple mountains, kingdoms, and a huge span of the sea to reach the place.

As soon as the light disappears, Elaina’s eyes soon adapts to the light and soon found herself standing in a wasteland. A quiet, desolate place, void of life and full of death. She is now standing at the Land of the Dead.
