A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods
Chapter 515: Expedition to the Land of the Dead [II]
CHAPTER 515: EXPEDITION TO THE LAND OF THE DEAD [II]
"A pixie?"
"[I thought that the only pixies that exist in this world are the ones living in your farm, but seeing one here out in the wild is not something I expected. Quick, he is dying, he needs to be tended immediately!]"
Elaina moved without hesitation and approached the pixie. He was currently being crushed underneath a beam that had fallen from the ceiling. It didn’t fully crush his lower leg, but it injured enough that Elaina is not sure whether he can still recover his feet in the process.
Lifting the beam and making sure the beam doesn’t collapse further, Elaina snatches carefully the Pixie and immediately rush out of the house as the whole remaining collapses and demolishes the remaining ruins of the house.
"Well...there goes our temporary shelter," Elaina sighed as she looked at the broken house. She then glances at the unconscious male pixie in her palms. His feet is bruised to the point of turning violet. How long has it been since he was there underneath the beams is something Elaina has no idea of. But considering that the light he was emitting is slowly dimming, Elaina shook her head.
"Looks like we will have to camp out here in the open instead."
...
...
...
Opening his eyes, for some reason, his mouth tasted bitter. Was it because he had not drunk a drop of water for the past few days, which is why his mouth is so dry, that he can practically taste nothing but the bitterness of his current situation? He has no idea.
He struggled a bit more to drag himself out once more from his current predicament and try to escape. But soon, he realized...the one that is stopping him from eating, drinking, and running away, has finally disappeared. That’s when he fully opened his eyes and checked his feet.
And there it was, still present. It has bandages covered all over, and the pain still lingers...but the beam that was crushing him and causing him suffering these past few days have already disappeared.
"Careful moving around. I may have patched you up and given you medicine that would heal the wounds in your body, but it seems that your injury is far too severe for the medicine to immediately work. Seems like a bit more rest and that would slowly heal."
Upon hearing someone’s voice, he turned to look and saw a human currently sipping coffee from her mug.
"A-a human?! Out here?!" he stammered as he tried to back away, only for his feet to ache and stop him from doing so.
"Told you to be careful moving around. Your legs might be a bit fine since it wasn’t the one that took the brunt of the weight, but your feet are very much on the verge of rot. If left behind for a few more days and your feet will no longer be healed, and amputation would have been the only solution to avoid the rot from spreading further on your feet."
"Then...are you going to sell me off?!" The fairy fearfully looked at Elaina, who looked at him with curious eyes.
"I see why you fear the humans, considering that the humans are also the main reason your race is dwindling in numbers to the point that your species is declared close to extinction. But don’t worry, I have plenty of money to the point that even if I sell you, the money I will receive would just be spare change, and no, I am not that evil to do so on a pixie. That would hurt and feel like betrayal to the Pixies that rely on me back home."
The male pixie looked at her and gauged her words to see if they were lies...only to find that all of them were the truth. She saved him without thinking of selling him.
"Then...you didn’t save me just so I can be sold?"
"Uh...no? I was even more surprised by the fact that a pixie like you still exists, considering on paper, pixies have been extinct. And the fact that I found here on the land of the dead of all places is much weirder."
Hearing the word "Land of the Dead" from the woman before him, that’s when his memory jogged, and he soon remembered where he was and what he was doing prior to his feet getting stuck on the ceiling beam.
"Right! I needed to find help! I can’t just keep on staying here and let the rot continue to proliferate any further into the whole World Tree!"
He tried to fly away, only to feel like his wings would not lift him up, no matter how he tried.
"Don’t bother moving just yet, like flying. Sure, you are not using your feet to walk but your wings to fly, but that doesn’t mean you have the energy to even fly up in the sky. Rest up, eat and drink water, and perhaps energize for a bit before leaving. Also, did you just say the World Tree?"
"You also know the World Tree?" the fairy was surprised. After all, the World Tree is something that only a few individuals know and should only be considered as a fictional plant.
"I was actually here to explore the Land of the Dead and find the main source of the land’s plague and cure it at its root of the problem. When we are checking for what caused the problem, we learned that the World Tree is partially the main cause of this land’s deterioration.
Upon hearing this, the pixie looked at Elaina and cried.
"F-finally! Someone has finally come! Please...help save the World Tree."
Elaina’s face turned serious. "Does that mean you knew where the World Tree is currently located?"
The male fairy vigorously nodded his head. "Yes! I came from that place and left to find someone who could help. I was more focused on finding a human who would listen to me and lift the curse of this place."
Elaina finally understood what was going on and why there was a fairy here in the Land of the Dead. It was one of the fairies that was supposed to be the guardians of the World Tree...until it happened.
Elaina glanced at the Pixie before her. If he had succeeded in reaching the human settlement, there is a chance that his efforts would have been in vain, as the humans would just scam him in the process and would capture him in the process which would result in the same situation where Pixie would be captured and have her wings cut off.
The only reason he has yet to reach the human territory is the fact that he was caught by a falling debris of the dilapidated house. Unfortunately for this pixie, he was underneath that same beam of wood and crushed his feet before he could even escape.
"I wanted to ask how you were crushed there, but you should rest up for the time being and heal up your wounds. It’s best to keep yourself alive first before going to rescue the World Tree. If you can’t even save yourself, doubt you can save the World Tree as well."
After saying that, Elaina places a plate of fruits in front of the pixie and put a small cup of water for him to drink.
"Don’t decline what I gave you, small pixie. I know what Pixies considering they basically live in my backyard. I am more familiar with your kind than you think I was."
Hearing her words, the pixie who was about to decline the good intentions of Elaina was left without a choice.
"Alright. Since you really wanted me to have you help out, then be my guide and lead me to where the World Tree was located."
...

...
Julia returned after the daily practice she had with her master. She can feel her body tenses up after the final magic spell she learned.
"And here I thought teleportation was nothing much...but that was very taxing...my mana is drained."
As she got out, she saw the Feys are working on the fields as normal. They aren’t that busy but they continue to diligently do their work. She glances around the farm but soon realized someone is missing.
"Poe? Where is your Boss?" Julia asked, curious about the reason why Elaina is not around.
"She didn’t tell you? According to her, she would be somewhere she should be and it was important. She said that she will stay somewhere while the task is not done yet. She also said that she will be taking for quite some time before she can return home."
Hearing this, Julia was shocked. She thanked Poe for the answer and quickly head inside the house. She saw the children currently resting in the living room with Zaza casually sleeping.
"Kids, have you seen Sis?" Julia inquired.
"Mom? She said earlier before we left that she would leave somewhere and would take some time to return."
