CHAPTER 1879: CHAPTER 1869: THE EXPERT’S IDEA
In the Guest Palace, a secret message was delivered to Gao Zhou. Upon seeing the handwriting on the letter, he immediately showed an expression of surprise and delight.
He eagerly opened the letter, and upon seeing the contents, his entire demeanor transformed from delight to ecstasy.
"There’s a way, there’s a way!" he shouted excitedly, then hurried off to find Jiang Yichun.
"What’s the matter?" Jiang Yichun’s expression was cold, perhaps even a bit impatient.
At this moment, Gao Zhou didn’t want to bicker with him. Triumphantly waving the letter in his hand, he said, "This time you owe me some gratitude. There’s already a way to isolate your evil energy. Although it can’t be completely eradicated yet, at least you can go home and stay with your wife and child."
After speaking, he realized he used the wrong word, cleared his throat, and said, "Stay with your wife and child."
Jiang Yichun cast him a skeptical look. He remembered Mouka saying that people on their side referred to wives as "老婆." How did his father know this term?
However, his attention was quickly drawn to the letter in Gao Zhou’s hand. He grabbed it and began to read. Soon, even his previously cold face showed a hint of a smile.
Great, he could be with Mouka and Dengdeng again, spend more time with her, and witness the birth of their child!
"Alright, alright, don’t waste time. I’ll quickly take this good news to Mouka. I’ll handle this to ensure you can return home within three days!" Gao Zhou snatched the letter and ran off.
Jiang Yichun smiled helplessly, deciding not to argue with his unreliable father, considering that he also wanted to make Mouka happy.
Gao Zhou rode quickly to the Bai Residence, but the servants there said Bai Ruozhu went to the School for Brides. Gao Zhou cursed and turned his horse’s head to the School for Brides. However, his fierce appearance made the Bai Family’s gatekeeper think he was there for revenge, so they quickly reported to the master and mistress of the house.
Fortunately, Jiao Ling was speaking with Lin Ping’er at the time and laughed when hearing it was the "Medical Sage." She said, "That must be a misunderstanding. He’s quite good to Ruozhu and Xiaojiang. He probably has an urgent matter."
Lin Ping’er relaxed after hearing this and sent someone to inquire at the School for Brides to see if there was a need for their family’s assistance.
Gao Zhou arrived on horseback at the School for Brides. Since the students inside were unmarried girls, his abrupt entry was quite inappropriate, causing some timid girls to scream.
"Don’t be afraid, everyone. This is my godfather. He must have an urgent matter with me," Bai Ruozhu quickly explained to the girls.
Gao Zhou didn’t care about that and pulled her outside, saying, "Girl, I have good news for you. Let’s talk while we walk."
"Slow down, be careful of my stomach!" Bai Ruozhu exclaimed while holding her tummy. Her father-in-law was too unreliable.
Gao Zhou chuckled twice and handed her the letter.
After glancing at it, Bai Ruozhu almost screamed, "Is this really possible?"
Gao Zhou gave her a big eye roll, "Do you know who wrote this letter? It’s the same expert I consulted last time. He taught us how to break Achun’s thousand-person blood sacrifice ritual. Do you think it’s effective?"
Bai Ruozhu examined the letter briefly. "Hmm, the handwriting seems like a woman’s."
"What woman? Let’s quickly find someone to make the armor and not waste time. It looks like you’re not in a hurry to let Achun come home, huh?" Gao Zhou snatched back the letter and tucked it into his chest.
The letter stated that there currently wasn’t a method to eradicate the evil energy but wearing armor could isolate it, preventing harm to pregnant women and children around him.
The letter also included blueprints for the armor. There wasn’t anything particularly difficult about its construction, except that it required materials of gold and iron, and specific arrangements of obsidian with unique patterns in the center of the helmet’s forehead and chest.
Gold, iron, and obsidian weren’t hard to find. Bai Ruozhu and Gao Zhou quickly located a decent Blacksmith Shop and paid the owner a hefty sum to expedite the creation.
"The obsidian must be arranged according to these specifications, without compromising each piece’s size. Once completed, I’ll reward you with five hundred taels of silver." Gao Zhou instructed the blacksmith.
"Yes, yes, I will craft it with utmost care," the blacksmith responded.
Bai Ruozhu thought for a moment, then requested paper and pen from the blacksmith and made an additional copy of the blueprint, leaving the rubbed one with the blacksmith.
Once they exited the Shop, she whispered to Jianqi, "Post two people to monitor them and ensure there’s no shoddy work or deviation from the plans."
"Understood," Jianqi replied.
Gao Zhou nodded, "Women indeed pay attention to details; this task must not have any mistakes. Being cautious is the right approach."
Perhaps because Gao Zhou offered a lot of money and promised an additional five hundred taels upon completion, the blacksmith and his apprentices worked through the night, finishing it in just two days.
Jianqi’s men kept watch the entire time, confirming there wasn’t a single issue before reporting back to Jianqi.
Bai Ruozhu touched the armor, unable to calm her excited heart, thrilled she could finally have a proper conversation with Achun.
"Girl, why are you just standing there? Go with me to the Guest Palace to find Achun!" Gao Zhou said with a cheerful smile.
"Okay." Bai Ruozhu’s face flushed a bit. Why did she feel like an unmarried woman about to meet her fiancé? She even felt a bit nervous.
"Haha, you both owe me a big thank you this time." Gao Zhou said proudly.
Bai Ruozhu smiled at him, "We must thank you, as well as that senior expert. If there’s a chance, Achun and I want to visit personally and thank him."
Gao Zhou’s expression changed subtly, "No need, he dislikes being disturbed. If you go, it could make him unhappy. Just the thought is enough. I’ll send a thank-you letter instead."
Bai Ruozhu noted his reaction, becoming more curious about the expert. The handwriting, the faint fragrance on the letter—surely, it was a woman, a woman with whom Gao Zhou had an unusual relationship.
The two of them arrived at the Guest Palace and soon found Jiang Yichun, but Bai Ruozhu was stopped by Gao Zhou, who let her wait at a distance to prevent any unexpected situation. He personally delivered the armor to Jiang Yichun.
Jiang Yichun’s hands trembled slightly as he received the armor. He glanced at Gao Zhou and whispered, "Thank you, dad."
Gao Zhou’s expression froze but soon turned into a smile. He reached out and ruffled his hair, saying, "Silly child, no need to be formal with me. Go put it on."
The armor resembled the battle armor worn by generals on the battlefield. Although a bit bulky, it was still manageable. Given Jiang Yichun’s inner strength, the extra weight was negligible.
He donned the armor and helmet. Gao Zhou carefully inspected him and said, "Ruozhu is waiting outside for you, so you better go see her."
Before he even finished speaking, Jiang Yichun had rushed out. Gao Zhou murmured behind him, "Cheeky lad, you’ve truly forgotten your father after getting married."
Clad in armor, Jiang Yichun approached Bai Ruozhu, looking like an heroic heavenly warrior, crashing into her heart.
