Chapter 42: Desperate Measures.

The pills appearance was that of a small, crimson sphere the size of a marble, that gleams like a dewdrop of dawn light. When held, it pulses with gentle warmth, as if containing a tiny heartbeat within its translucent shell.

The surface has delicate swirling patterns that seem to flow like lazy rivers, and a subtle sweet-iron fragrance wafts from it. It’s a basic cultivation pill that helps novice cultivators like Lin Mu, strengthen their mortal bodies and enrich their blood essence, laying the foundation for their first steps on the path to immortality.

The reason the system had been tasking him with killing more than one Body Refining Realm creature at a time to earn a chance of gaining one of this pill was because unlike other systems, the system wasn’t as omnipotent as it seemed, we’ll not at the moment since most of it’s power was still locked.

Unlike the Body Refining Realm, The Qi Condensation Realm had only 4 stages known as Initial, mid, Late and Peak. Though the stages where fewer, The gab between each of them was like comparing a Sedan to a Mac truck!

Just the gab between Body Refining Realm and Qi Condensation Realm was even more insane! like pitting a new edition Bugatti Veyron against a Dodge Hell cat SRT in a race!.

" Just when I thought we were finally making progress in our relationship you just had to go and talk crap again." Lin Mu’s face turned exasperated. Though the idiot didn’t really realize how cringe what he’d just said was.

" I’d have a better chance of talking to them than—" He continued. Just before he could finish his sentence, A sharp whistle was heard as an arrow narrowly brushed past his cheek, drawing a thin line of blood.

Before the arrow could vanish, Lin Mu’s right hand moved like a phantom and grabbed it before it could cut farther into his skin.

His hands clenched around the wooden arrow, it’s sharp metallic head felt chilling to the touch when he rubbed his thumb against it’s surface.

A self mocking smile creeped onto Lin Mu’s lips, his eyes staring at the arrow before staring back at the so called Jebaki’s who were kicking up a dust storm as they approached from the far distance.

The shadows on the horizon grew larger, resolving into over 20 figures with muscular, blue scale covered humanoid forms, armed with crude but deadly weapons while approaching on their mounts which looked like horse sized monitor lizards. Both riders and mounts had savage expressions, eyes glinting with visible blood lust as they approached at top speed.

The Jebaki had arrived, and their intentions were very much clear to the Serinerian hunting party.

The weight of the systems notification still lingered in Lin Mu’s mind but, he had no time to dwell on it.

The air was filled with the tension of an impending clash and the bloodlust of the approaching Jebaki tribesmen felt like a suffocating storm that threatened to swallow him whole!., if he didn’t know any better then he would’ve mistaken them for a maddened creature with an irreconcilable grudge.

Snapping back to reality, Lin Mu’s voice cut through the chaos. " Everyone onto your mounts now!" He signaled with help due to the systems translation.

The tribesmen already uneasy due to the earlier encounter with the mutated rats and the sight of the unexpectedly huge band of Jebaki’s didn’t even hesitate but immediately followed his command.

The urgency in Lin Mu’s tone and the sight in the distance spurred them all into action.

But as the hunting party scrambled to obey, like always, two imbeciles remained motionless, standing in place with scrunched up faces covered in dark scowls.

" Just who do you think you are to give us orders!" Lang Shi spat out.

" Yeah why are you all even afraid, it’s just a bunch of savage Jebaki’s. We can easily take them." Said Lang Shen with visible arrogance in his tone.

For the first time in forever, every single member of the hunting party were completely silent, They stared at the two Lang brothers before turning to stare at the approaching band of Jebaki’s in the distance who no doubt looked terrifying and ruthless, before they all turned back to stare at the two brothers, only this time with gazes as if they were all staring at two mentally deranged creatures who had escaped from a Rehab facility.

" You..!!" The Lang brothers felt their bloods boil in vexation but before they could say anything, Lin Mu spoke up.
