Osvaldo wasn’t here to play nice. He didn’t care for alliances, for empty pleasantries, for whatever half-hearted charm the others thought they could offer.
They had all paraded their so-called gifts before him, as if anything could compare to his Penguin. Did they really believe their trinkets held value?
He would need to teach them a lesson. His little lesson. Besides, this was all just an act to keep the rumors going. He needed to catch that stupid man, the same one that killed his parents. He needed to look as powerless as possible if he wanted to lure him out.
While he waited for his Penguin’s last words, he thought of what to do with these fools before him. He could use his old tricks. Osvaldo smiled. That always works everytime. It wouldn’t hurt if he had a little fun with these fools.
They may think he was joking when he said the circle would continue.
He pushed his hair backwards with one sharp swing and his face came to view. He could see shock on their faces and he loved it. He enjoyed shocking his prey.
Xavier quickly pulled his daughter behind him to protect her from the madman. He couldn’t believe this is the madness his precious child would have to live with for the rest of her life. Penny doesn’t deserve any of these.
Penny tried to go to Osvaldo but her father’s arm around her was strong. She understand he was trying to protect her, but she’s the only person that can actually tame him.
The Adkins lawyers stepped aside, along with Hughes and Barnaby who gave way for their master to display his wrath. This was the only way he could do anything physically for now, until he’s ready to reveal himself to the world.
He suddenly smiled. White teeth displaying before everyone. His smile was crooked, wicked and mad...
Raphael rose to his feet, holding his wife’s hands as he tried to step back a little. He had no idea what was happening but he knew this wasn’t normal.
What did this madman want from them? They have each presented the best gifts in the world but his so called Penguin had rejected it. There’s nothing they could do now.
They all watched Osvaldo suddenly stop and started walking towards them like a normal person again. He had a soft smile on his lipe, enhancing his beauty even more. He stopped walking when he stood before the gifts, his golden eyes staring at each gifts and then stopped when it reached the cheap jewelry box.
These were good gifts he thought. But if his penguin didn’t like them, then they were useless. His hands reached for his trouser as he undid the buttons, then he smiled again.
His eyes landed on everyone as a familiar liquid spilled out of the broken opening of his trouser.
The madman was just displaying his madness on their gifts and he looked like he enjoyed doing it.
These gifts were the first of their kind. They were truly priceless possession of each family. Their most valued object, yet, this man, treated them like they were nothing.
These were things money couldn’t buy. People paid huge amount just to get a glimpse of them, yet only a selected few were allowed to see them. Osvaldo had destroyed treasures with his urine.
As if that was not enough, he pushed his hips forward as spilled the warm juice on the people there. Spraying his special liquid on them. They all stepped back, most people’s clothes were already stained. Maybelline and Abby who had moved away at first both smiled at his action.
They have all been through this before, that is why they had moved away at first. They each knew this would happen. It’s a good thing they were smart this time.
But their celebration was short lived as the Madman’s eyes landed on them too.
Both women froze like prey. Then, almost comically, they took turns hiding behind each other, pushing one another forward, as though one could use the other as a shield. Their bodies trembled. This man was truly mad, completely unpredictable. And they wanted no part of his wrath.
Osvaldo’s head turned slowly, his hair falling into his face. He looked at his Penguin, his gaze softening for the briefest second. He checked to see if she was safe and once he was sure.
Only then did the smirk curl his lips.
He turned back, eyes locking on the treasures laid before him, and took a single step forward.
Prince Raphael and the others could only stare, horrified, still reeling from what he had just done. They had spent fortunes, begged and bartered, moved heaven and earth to secure those gifts. And in one mad act, he had reduced them to filth. Pouring his useless pee on them.
Raphael was furious! He clenched his hands into a fist, little did he know this was only the beginning.
Osvaldo’s next move had pushed her to the brink of madness.
They all watched the madman crouch before the first gift. The Royal Family’s offering. A velvet chest filled with priceless jewels worn by queens long dead. And at the center, the ancient royal crest, a relic that could not be bought with any amount of gold.
Everyone seemed to hold their breath.
Osvaldo lifted the crest delicately, almost reverently... then bent it in his bare hands. Metal groaned and cracked until the symbol of the royal line snapped in two.
Gasps echoed. Even Xavier was stunned this time. He had destroyed the royal family symbol, this was the highest offense, but it was nothing to a man the royal family worshipped like a second God.
He was Osvaldo Adkins. One word from him and the country’s economy could be reduced to filth.
Prince Raphael staggered forward. "No...!" His voice broke, horror strangling his throat.
But Osvaldo only laughed, the sound hollow and sharp. He dropped the broken crest to the ground and stomped on it, grinding it under his boot until it was nothing more than a twisted ruin. Then, with childlike glee, he flung the jewels one by one across the estate. Gems that had adorned queens scattered into the mud like pebbles.
He moved next to the mountain of gold bars offered by the Jones family. Without hesitation, Osvaldo tipped the chest over, sending the bars crashing and splitting across the marble courtyard, clattering against the stone until they scattered like worthless scraps.
Gasps turned to sobs.
"Stop! Please, stop!" one of the fathers cried out.
"Please, these things cost a fortune, they have been in our family for years." Jones cried out.
"Fortune?" The madman repeated with a innocent face, his hair falling over his face. But did they not think his Penguin was worth more than all of these?
He had wanted peace. He asked them to present good gifts befitting his Penguin, but they all brought scraps. Worthless scraps.
Osvaldo ignored the crying man, turning instead to the scrolls and documents. Their carefully prepared papers, deeds, and letters of wealth. He grabbed handfuls of them, ripped them into shreds, and let the pieces rain down around him like falling snow.
His laughter echoed as the inked signatures and golden seals fluttered across the floor, worthless now.
Abby’s jeweled box sat to the side. Osvaldo’s eyes flicked toward it, then away. He didn’t even bother to touch it, it was already useless, already exposed for the fraud it was.
The yard descended into chaos.
"What is going on?!" Raphael shouted, his face pale, his body shaking with rage.
"Why would he do this?!" another cried out.
"This is madness!"
"We spent fortune on all of these!"
"This is barbaric!"
"Please calm down, he’s only mad." Maybelline said calmly, trying to tell them the truth but stylishly.
But their voices rose louder, outrage and despair colliding as they tried to understand.
"This is not what we were promised!"
"Bring our children now!"
And then Osvaldo turned.
That smile, too wide, too sharp, returned to his face.
He didn’t speak. He didn’t need to.
He lunged.
The yard erupted. Mothers screamed, fathers shouted, people shoved one another out of the way as they scrambled to escape. The Madman’s footsteps thundered behind them, his laughter chasing them like a curse.
Through the grand Adkins estate, they ran. Past marble pillars, endless tall trees and sprawling gardens. The estate was so massive, it felt like they had run through the whole of Owlsgrave itself just to reach the gates.
And Osvaldo never stopped running.
He chased them until the gates flung open and they spilled out onto the streets, shoes lost, dignity shattered, treasures ruined. Their screams carried into the night, mingled with his mad laughter echoing long after the gates slammed shut.
Everyone fell to the floor once they saw the gates close, panting like dogs in the desert, tongues lolling out in thirst.
