CHAPTER 260: TIME TO GO...

Time passed by.

Then Chaos Heaven Peak Master excused herself.

Though she had joined the little celebration and even smiled once or twice, everyone could tell she was satisfied for another reason entirely — her true gift to her disciple had been settled.

In her eyes, a disciple’s greatest gift was not jewels or treasures... but growth.

"But I guess, a disciple’s happiness is a master’s happiness," she said before departing.

The room felt noticeably lighter once she left.

After a while, the shorty also stood up to leave.

But just as she was about to step out the door, Yu Xuan send few sentences directly through spirit sense.

The shorty blinked, then smirked.

At least one problem less.

Now only three of them remained — Yu Xuan, Ming Tianmei, and Lingluo, who was still admiring the exquisite jewellery set Ming Tianmei had given her.

The necklace gleamed faintly in her hands, refracting soft violet light, and Lingluo’s reflection shimmered in the gem, eyes wide with wonder.

"Beautiful..." she muttered to herself, clearly entranced.

Yu Xuan couldn’t help but smile.

"Well," Ming Tianmei said finally, breaking the silence.

"I should take my leave too. My main purpose here was to celebrate Lingluo’s birthday, and I’ve accomplished that. If I stay too long, my master will scold me again."

Lingluo’s head snapped up.

"This soon?" she asked, disappointment clear in her tone.

Ming Tianmei hesitated for a heartbeat, then nodded.

"Mn."

Her silence carried a subtle air of mystery, which as usual, annoyed Lingluo to no end.

’Always so secretive!’ Lingluo grumbled inwardly, puffing her cheeks slightly.

"Then maybe I should go too..." Yu Xuan said.

Lingluo immediately looked at him, her expression faintly dejected.

"But last time you said there’s still time..." she muttered softly.

The air went quiet for a second.

Yu Xuan met Ming Tianmei’s gaze.

"Alright then," Ming Tianmei said gently, smiling.

"We’ll stay. Just for tonight. Let’s celebrate your birthday properly."

Lingluo’s expression brightened slightly.

Yu Xuan chuckled softly.

"Yeah. Really. You think I’d skip your birthday celebration after everything?"

"Last time you did forget to bring a gift," Lingluo said teasingly, raising the broom slightly in menace.

Yu Xuan’s mouth twitched.

Ming Tianmei watched quietly, a small smile curving her lips.

As they laughed, Yu Xuan’s thoughts drifted.

He would need to give a proper explanation to his master later — especially about how he managed to "accidentally" give her a rival in the form of an Old Ancestor from Martial Heaven Peak.

He sighed inwardly.

’That’s going to be a long conversation.’

Originally, he had planned to visit the other peaks and check in with the Yu Clan disciples scattered across the sect.

But that would have to wait.

For now, he’d simply contact them through their medallion and the group chat humorously titled [Yu Clan’s Prodigies].

Besides, there was something more pressing.

He could feel it — the rhythmic pulse in his Lower Dantian.

His slightly paused breakthrough was stirring again, brushing the edges of his awareness like a whisper.

His estimation is that within a week he would have a breakthrough.

And he knew exactly where he wanted to achieve it, within the quiet main peak of the Elemental Heaven Peak, under his master’s watchful gaze.

Tonight, however, was different. Tonight, he would simply stay.

After all, birthdays only came once a year... even for immortals in the making, maybe if certain celestial anomalies happen he would get to celebrate twice or maybe even multiple birthdays within a single year.

Xuan’s Chronicles: A suspect?

[Continued from Chapter 144]

Many days passed after I named the fox "Xiaohu Celestine Amane Von Yu."

And I also made two important discoveries.

First, Xiaohu loved sweets.

Second, Mother’s head massage technique was a divine weapon of unconsciousness.

"Mother, what about tha—"

Before I could even finish my sentence, bliss exploded across my nervous system. My consciousness vanished.

When I opened my eyes again, I was in my room. Early morning sunlight peeked through the window.

Apparently, Mother could make me fall asleep faster than the speed of light, that is 299,792,458 meters per second.

No matter how hard I tried to resist, even if I gathered every ounce of power a mighty five-year-old could muster... I always lost.

"Is this... the wonders of spiritual energy?" I muttered dramatically before going to wash up.

Afterward, I decided to visit my favorite place — the Grand Library.

You see, as a future great cultivator, I had once "confiscated" an evil book from there (it was totally evil, I swear).

Today, I was going to reread my favorite book: Tales of the Spirit Chicken.

Fortunately, I didn’t encounter Lingluo on the way. That meant my morning was already blessed.

"Good morning, Old Man!" I greeted cheerfully when I arrived at the front desk.

The Elder chuckled.

"Haha, Little Yu, reading again?"

"Yes," I said solemnly, "but today I plan to read something different."

"Ha! Young ones should focus on one thing at a time," the old man muttered.

"Maybe, but young people have fast brains," I said proudly, striding toward the children’s fairy tale section like a scholar on a mission.

The old man shook his head, smiling to himself.

As I passed through, I saw a few people picking books from the advanced sections.

’Maybe secret techniques?’ I thought excitedly.

After a few steps, I reached my destination.

There it was: Tales of the Spirit Chicken.

I picked it up carefully and began reading, flipping through the illustrated pages.

"When the chicken spiritually awakened again, a grand vision of ten thousand chickens manifested, which immediately prompted the surrounding evil cultivators to eat them."

Truly, a literary masterpiece.

The story had reached a critical point — the Spirit Chicken was in mortal danger!

I was gripping the book tightly when a voice suddenly called out behind me:

"Little Brother! I, Mo Ki, would like to question you about something."

I turned around, a bit annoyed at the interruption...

Then froze.

Because the spot that "Mo Ki" was looking at — was the exact same place where I had "heroically seized" that evil book.

My heart dropped.

Oh no...
