CHAPTER 479: CHAPTER 479: WAKING UP IN HIS ARMS EVERY DAY 9
"Weren’t you the one who never liked it too bright at night, so you had someone dim the streetlights on this road before? Why is it so bright again?"
"How’s your injury? Did you take good care of yourself today?"
...
She tilted her head like a curious child, looking at Matthew Morgan, asking one question after another.
Matthew Morgan’s expression was as usual—emotionless.
But if you look closely, his gaze was softer than usual.
Though he didn’t answer, Chloe Grant still smiled brightly.
Between her and Matthew, the unfamiliarity and awe were gone, although... not very intimate either.
There was a kind of simplicity, nothing overly intense.
Yet, Chloe felt a very direct sense: this is how it should be between us.
When they reached their destination, Matthew was about to reach out to open the door, but Chloe beat him to it and pushed the door open.
"Your injury hasn’t healed yet, take care."
As soon as they walked into the living room, Chloe asked again, "Did you eat on time today? Did Ralph Koch come by?"
"He brought food over," Matthew replied simply.
Chloe mumbled, "I knew it, he sent me so many messages at noon."
As she spoke, Matthew quietly watched her.
Then he reached out and wiped the sweat off Chloe’s forehead.
Chloe returned a bright smile to him.
"Oh, right, I need to tell you something," Chloe suddenly remembered about Michael Taylor.
She tugged Matthew along as she headed to the room upstairs.
While walking, she briefly explained Michael Taylor’s situation to Matthew.
"So, are you going to agree?" She tilted her head, looking at Matthew.
After asking, she added, "My thought was, it’s probably hard to talk to Grandma about us now, so let’s take it easy; in three months, we can find a good breakthrough. As for Michael, it’s just a small favor."
That’s what Chloe thought.
It’s just that she noticed Matthew’s expression was clearly colder than before...
He didn’t answer her question.
More precisely, he outright ignored her.
As he was about to take off his coat, Chloe hurried over caringly to help him remove it.
Seeing the red bloodstains on the bandage, Chloe frowned immediately, her eyes full of concern.
"Sit down quickly, I’ll help you change the dressing," Chloe said urgently, muttering under her breath, "Wasn’t I told you to rest well? Why is the wound bleeding?"
She was so worried when she went to find the first aid kit that her eyes turned red.
When she returned, Matthew pulled her directly into his arms and wiped away her tears. "It’s just a minor injury, don’t worry too much."
Chloe struggled, wanting to get out of his embrace, "Stop moving!"
He didn’t let go; instead, he held her even tighter.
Chloe dared not struggle too much and could only curse in anger, "Matthew Morgan! Can’t you stop acting like you’re made of steel? Discharging right after surgery was already too much! You’re still not taking care of your wound now. What do you want? Do you know every time you don’t take care of yourself, it breaks my heart!
If something happened to you, what should I do?"
"What if something really did happen to me?"
He suddenly leaned in towards Chloe, their eyes meeting, noses almost touching.
The breath he exhaled naturally entered Chloe’s body, only to be breathed out again...
Chloe was a bit dazed, "You... what are you doing?"
