Addicted After Marriage: Marrying My Abstinent Boss
Chapter 120: No One Is Leaving
CHAPTER 120: CHAPTER 120: NO ONE IS LEAVING
When Sophia woke up the next day, she was lying on Zane Sterling’s chest.
This man, who was 1.9 meters tall, was squeezing with her on a 1.5-meter bed. It was really hard on him.
When did he climb onto the bed? She hadn’t even noticed. Had she already gotten used to his scent and let her guard down?
She carefully withdrew her hand, wanting to get up, but he held her tightly.
"Sleep a bit more."
The hot breath poured down from above her head, mingled with a faint scent of sandalwood from him. It was then she noticed that he had changed all his clothes.
Zane didn’t let her get up. She couldn’t move and could only be confined in his arms.
Sophia didn’t resist; it was still early, so she continued to lie there.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
She wasn’t really hurt, just felt sore all over.
"I’m okay."
Zane rubbed his chin against her head.
"Kiss..."
He murmured in her ear, the warm breath tangling around her.
"No way!" Sophia glared at him.
Knock knock--
There was a knock on the hospital room door.
Sophia was startled! If anyone saw them like this, it would be terrible!
"Get up!" she said, flustered and embarrassed, using all her strength to push against his chest.
Zane looked at her calmly, then got up.
His expression didn’t look good; he probably guessed who was coming.
He smoothed the corner of the quilt, covering Sophia up, then turned away, with his back to the people coming in.
Faye Ellison walked in and saw the two of them looking groggy.
Sophia’s face still showed the residual blush of just having woken up.
Faye immediately understood something.
"Morning." Sophia said awkwardly.
"Morning." Faye said calmly.
"Morning." Zane said with satisfaction.
Faye placed the breakfast he was holding on the coffee table in front of the sofa.
"I came to visit Grandma and brought you some chicken porridge." he said, with a gentle tone to Sophia.
"Thanks." Sophia pursed her lips and forced a smile.
"But there’s only one portion, Zane will have to get his own." he said.
Zane curled his lips, seemingly not threatened by his arrival at all, but still dissatisfied.
He said, "It’s fine, I’ll eat her leftovers."
"This porridge isn’t much; it might not be enough for the two of you."
"Don’t worry, I’ll make sure she’s full first." he said with a slight smile.
Sophia blushed under the covers.
If she could disappear, she would have already run away.
Faye chuckled, understanding perfectly but not wanting to make Sophia uncomfortable, so he let it be.
"Sophia, I’ll go see Grandma first."
"Okay, thanks." she smiled.
Faye smiled and left.
Zane sat next to her, leaned down, supporting himself on either side of her, and asked in a low voice, "Hungry?"
"..." Sophia really wanted to slap him.
He chuckled, pinching her nose.
Why did she blush so easily?
Once she blushed, it made people want to tease her.
"Get up, freshen up and have some food." he said.
Sophia dragged her heavy body, slowly got up from the bed from the other side.
But all these little thoughts of hers were seen through by Zane.
When she came out of the bathroom, Zane was already sitting on the sofa, drinking the chicken porridge that Faye had brought, with another serving of chicken porridge on the table.
Sophia, holding her neck, walked toward him and sat beside him.
"Did you buy this?" she picked up the chicken porridge that was cooled for her.
"Yeah."
Sophia seemed to sense Zane’s jealousy, not only did he buy it, but he bought the exact same one.
"Let’s check on her later, then head back," Sophia said.
The ’her’ in her mouth was Beau Morgan, it seemed appropriate to check in before leaving.
"If you don’t want to go, you don’t have to."
"We should at least visit."
"There’s no need, we’re going to your brother-in-law’s for dinner tonight anyway."
"We brought her here; plus, she’s just next door. We should at least say hi."
Zane didn’t say anything. After finishing his porridge, he threw the takeaway box into the trash. This woman didn’t know what happened yesterday and was still thinking about others.
Sophia saw his reluctance and said, "Then let’s not go."
She glanced at the trash can and saw the bubble tea cup from last night, with the straw still in it, "Did you drink the bubble tea from last night?"
"Yeah, I drank it, didn’t taste good." Zane got up and started packing.
Sophia gave him a look, clicked her tongue, and cursed him inwardly.
He finished it even though he didn’t like it.
After packing up and completing the discharge procedure, they were about to leave the hospital.
Unexpectedly, as they were about to leave, they ran into Drake Morgan in the corridor. Drake’s sharp gaze fell on Sophia as he saw Zane holding her hand.
Sophia could tell from a glance that the look wasn’t friendly. She didn’t know if it was her imagination, but something felt off; their attitude seemed so different from yesterday.
Maybe they decided to drop the pretense?
From the door, Beau Morgan was visible without her makeup on, leaning against the bed, looking pale. Her hands tightened around the sheets upon seeing Sophia.
Lynn Boyle gave a harsh look, not even bothering to glance again.
Zane’s face was expressionless, though his brow furrowed slightly when looking at Beau.
"Hello, Uncle and Aunt." Sophia sensed the tension in the air, planning to leave after a greeting.
But unexpectedly, Drake scoffed, "Miss Lowell, do you think our situation is great right now?"
His face practically had "Like a fox paying a visit to a hen house, definitely not with good intentions" written all over it.
He wanted to say more, but was stopped by Lynn, who gave him a nudge, signaling him to stop.
Sophia wanted to say something comforting, but the man beside her seemed unwilling for her to speak.
Zane pulled her hand lightly, subtly moving her behind him, protecting her at his side, "Uncle Morgan, we have things to do, we won’t disturb Manager Morgan’s rest."
Beau watched this gesture, a trace of moisture appearing in her eyes. Yesterday, she was just Manager Morgan, but today she’s Manager again?
Zane squeezed Sophia’s hand, ready to leave, but then Drake threw a bouquet at the back of Sophia’s head.
Zane reacted swiftly, raising his arm, turning his body to shield Sophia, who closed her eyes in fright, adopting a defensive posture.
"Dad!" Beau called out, trying to stop him, but injured and unable to stand, she could only watch.
The bouquet hit the man’s back, scattering bright petals onto the ground.
The man’s body still shielded the woman, and gently pushed her aside, afraid she might get hurt.
The bouquet wasn’t very harmful, but Sophia felt something was wrong here.
She looked up at the man in front of her.
The man’s brows were knit, "It’s nothing, don’t mind it."
"None of you are leaving today!" Drake’s cheek muscles clenched tight with anger, twitching.
