CHAPTER 129: CHAPTER 129: LOVE MAKES YOU STUPID

"Why are you running? Hm?"

Zane frowned, looking at the woman trying to escape in front of him.

He was furious!

He locked his hands around her waist, not letting her move. He hadn’t had meat for a few days, so the moment Sophia bumped into him, he immediately got all riled up.

"I didn’t run!" She could sense the unusual tension in the man, trying to push him away, but he just held her tighter.

This was the street, during rush hour, people everywhere. Behaving so intimately in front of others was inappropriate.

She couldn’t face losing her dignity!

"Fine, if you didn’t run, do you want to offer an explanation?" Zane tilted his head, following her lowered gaze.

Watching her face slowly turn red, his amusement grew.

"Honey, you’re blushing again," he said.

"Do you not know why I’m blushing?" Sophia pounded his chest in frustration, trying hard to push him away.

She couldn’t push him away, so she gave up.

Zane swallowed and said, "I don’t know, you tell me."

"You!" Sophia was almost infuriated to death by him.

She compromised, lowering her voice to plead, "Let me go!"

"Explain properly, and once I’m satisfied, I’ll let you go." Zane demanded dominantly, pulling her closer still.

She bit her lip, muttering, "I was thinking you’ve helped me so much. We’re married, so I thought I should do something for you, so I used my own money. I usually spend your money."

"Nonsense! I didn’t receive any message! You didn’t spend a single penny." Zane pinched her soft waist forcefully.

"Ah~" She couldn’t help but laugh, her legs going weak.

Her waist was her weak spot.

Sophia looked at him shyly, secretly cursing him bastard!

Zane swallowed again, tugging at his tie to loosen it.

He couldn’t bear to hear that sound.

His ears were actually turning red.

"What’s going on with you and Faye Ellison?" He asked, with an angry face yet gentle inquiry.

Sophia bit her lip, "Let me go, and I’ll tell you!"

If this continued, people around would start to watch.

Zane let out a breath, slowly regaining his composure. He was afraid he couldn’t control himself, so he let go.

Sophia quickly stepped back, her eyes couldn’t help but glance under him.

"Snicker..." She pursed her lips and smiled.

This man’s reaction was way too strong.

Zane’s face turned dark, and he quickly covered himself with the jacket draped over his arm.

He flicked her forehead abruptly.

"Ouch—" Sophia held her forehead, it really hurt!

"Speak." Zane looked like he was interrogating a suspect, his fiery gaze seemingly able to see through all her pretenses.

"Faye Ellison is my senior, he’s the boss of Folio Private Tailoring. The teacher Sylvia mentioned is Professor Carter. You can ask Elder Jennings, for a year I was indeed closely associated with him, during the time when the teacher’s studio opened and needed people to support."

Zane didn’t expect this kind of relationship. He had seen Sophia’s work in design; she indeed had remarkable skills.

"I have nothing to do with Faye Ellison. Professor Carter was the one who asked me to go there," Sophia added, "I used to be at the studio with them, but nothing happened, otherwise, after breaking up with Henry Quinn, you wouldn’t have stood a chance."

After finishing, Sophia stood on tiptoe to give him a quick flick on the forehead in return.

Who told him to always flick her head? She was going nuts from all his flicks!

Zane’s face darkened further, when did he ever get smacked by anyone else?

"What? Angry now?" Sophia pouted, giving him a glare.

Her face read: Only the officials were allowed to light fires, while the commoners weren’t allowed to light lamps?

"Okay." He sighed.

"Mr. Sterling, do you have any more questions?" Sophia maintained a stern face with her arms crossed.

"None." He added, "Remember to use my card!"

Sophia clicked her tongue but didn’t answer him.

"I have a dinner meeting later. Get something to eat yourself first. I’ll try to come home early tonight." Leaning down, his brows relaxed a bit, he reached out to pinch her cheek, "Been a while since we exercised."

Sophia slapped his hand away, her face immediately turning red.

"Get lost, I don’t want to see you today," she said fiercely.

He chuckled and hopped into the already-waiting front passenger seat.

Sophia pursed her lips, a tiny smile playing at the corners as she watched him leave.

The promised warm housewarming party was no more, and her stomach was growling with hunger.

Just then, she received a call from Professor Carter. Before she could speak, Professor Carter spoke first.

[Look over to four o’clock, let’s have a meal together.]

As soon as the sentence was finished, the call ended abruptly without leaving any room for discussion.

Sophia slightly turned her body to glance, seeing Faye Ellison’s car.

She walked towards the car.

How long had they been there?

Did they witness Zane holding her just now?

She felt like a schoolkid being caught skipping school, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Driving was Faye Ellison’s assistant, Professor Carter, with his bad back, sat in the passenger seat, and Faye Ellison was in the backseat.

"Teacher," Sophia greeted simply.

Professor Carter was looking at a document on his phone, acknowledged with a hum but didn’t respond further.

Sophia didn’t bother him any further.

"Sophia," Faye greeted with a smile.

"Hey, Faye," Sophia replied with a smile.

"Have things been okay since then?" Faye genuinely concerned himself with her, observing her since she got in the car.

The winter hadn’t ended; she was dressed tightly, revealing no sign of anything.

But Faye just enjoyed watching her.

"I’m fine now, there are no major issues. With my constitution, I’m doing well." She winked.

"That’s good then. Coincidently, I’ve been planning to try some new designs for men’s wear, you should come back and help take a look," Professor Carter said casually, "Don’t always focus on relationships, romance can make you dumb."

Professor Carter and Faye burst out laughing.

Sophia patted her own mouth, having inadvertently found more work for herself.

"Got it." She agreed, then asked, "Teacher, how many girlfriends have you had?"

Faye stifled a laugh.

Is the teacher’s love life something you can probe?

Professor Carter furrowed his brow, pondered for two seconds, and said, "Countless, I used to date so much in the past that my brain’s not as sharp as yours now."

The three laughed together.

The car stopped at The Private Kitchen’s parking lot, with Professor Carter standing between Faye and Sophia, the three of them walked into the elevator together.

Sophia remembered that Zane had brought her here to eat before.

Their room was a private suite, near the window, allowing a view of the city’s nightscape from the floor-to-ceiling windows.

They hadn’t gathered in a while, this meal stretched for a long time.

"You two sit first, I’ll be back after a quick restroom visit," Sophia excused herself and left the room.

The restroom was at the end of the corridor, with various big and small rooms on both sides.

As she walked past, she stopped outside a room with a slightly ajar door.

Inside, Ethan, Zane, and Beau were sitting together, Ethan already drunk, slumped over the table, while the boss kept pouring drinks for Beau.

"President Logan, it’s not fair to bully a girl, I’ll drink with you," Zane said.

He overturned Beau’s glass and filled up his own.

"Mr. Sterling..." Beau frowned, supporting him from the side.

Zane gently eased his hand away, putting some distance between them, "Go downstairs and grab the contract, I remember it’s in the car."

Zane fished the car key out of Ethan’s pocket, placed it on the table, and gave her a pointed look.

Beau acknowledged and quickly stood up to leave.

Sophia withdrew her gaze and continued towards the restroom.
