Addicted After Marriage: Marrying My Abstinent Boss
Chapter 131: The Measurements Aren’t Hers
CHAPTER 131: CHAPTER 131: THE MEASUREMENTS AREN’T HERS
Beads of sweat dripped onto the small of her back.
Sophia Lowell was lying on the bed, initially not tired, but now completely exhausted.
When he dragged her to take a shower and lie on the bed, the questions she wanted to ask couldn’t be voiced anymore.
But Zane Sterling was very clear-headed, unable to fall asleep, his mind full of that man.
"Little one." He called softly.
Sophia’s brows furrowed slightly, murmuring with her eyes closed, "You’re always lying."
"This time, I’m truly exhausted."
"Even if I’m tired, I won’t give you a massage."
Zane was silent for two seconds, "Where did you go for dinner today?"
Upon hearing this, Sophia’s drowsiness vanished immediately. She just opened her eyes, only to shut them again.
The company was going public, so socializing was inevitable. What you see might not always be true; Zane’s feelings for her were sincere, and she felt there was no need to dwell on it.
"In the private room diagonally across from yours," she said.
The two remained silent for a moment.
Sophia suddenly opened her eyes, turning around to face him, "Professor Carter invited us for dinner, Faye Ellison was there too."
"I saw."
"So you’re angry again."
Zane said nothing, merely rubbing her life-taking waist under the covers.
Sophia said plainly, "I can’t possibly reject contact with Faye, just as you can’t refuse dealings with Beau. Can you have her fired? Impossible. My friendship with Faye, which has spanned many years, cannot be suddenly cut off; we both need to trust each other."
"Understood, my dear wife." Zane pulled her close, speaking these words, though he was feeling quite troubled inside.
He wasn’t pleased having men pursuing his woman following her around.
Sophia was right.
"Do you not have confidence in me?" Sophia asked with a frown.
Zane’s expression froze briefly, leaning down to peck her lips.
Indeed, Zane lacked confidence in her.
This woman had been deeply hurt by love; she was cautious with everyone, fearing that the love she showed him was only on the surface, while Faye was also quite good to her.
She was present, but who knew if her heart was?
"Lack of confidence in me only proves your love is too little; it hasn’t moved me. I advise you to love me without reservation, and bury those unwanted admirers outside." Sophia twisted his cheek.
Snort—
Couldn’t twist it, too firm.
"Alright, turns out there’s too little love." Zane petulantly nuzzled into her embrace, burying his head in her bosom.
Sophia took a deep breath, her body slightly stiffening, "I’m already yours, for life. Can’t you be a bit more assertive? Don’t you know you’re acting quite childish now."
"After resigning, let’s find a time to take wedding photos." Zane said with a weary voice.
"Okay," she replied.
"Once you resign, will it no longer affect us? Shall we go public?"
Zane lifted his head, still holding her, leaving kisses all over where he couldn’t hold.
Sophia blushed, watching his antics.
He sucked a red hickey on her snowy skin, looking at her with serious eyes once more.
"That’s only natural..." she didn’t refute.
Going public meant the whole world would know she’s his, no longer needing to hide and be constrained like before.
Who gets married, sneaking around like a thief?
Finally, they could make it official.
The next day, Sophia submitted her resignation, and the HR department promptly approved it; she could leave directly after completing the formalities.
"Ms. Lowell, what’s this about..." Wyatt Nash rushed to her desk upon hearing the news.
Sophia smiled, "I’ll give you some wedding candy during the National Day holiday!"
It was evident that Sophia’s mood was exceptionally good today.
Wyatt brightened at this; they hadn’t chosen to go public for so long, and he didn’t dare spread rumors in the office for fear of repercussions from the higher-ups.
Moreover, as soon as business resumed, Director Nash promoted Manager Nash, perhaps thinking Zane was sealing his mouth, so he remained silent.
After exchanging a few pleasantries, Wyatt left.
Lily Ellison helped her pack, leaving many things behind for Lily.
"Planning to team up with Professor Irving on your own?" Lily looked envious.
Sophia didn’t hide it, "Hugh Irving has been a friend for many years; I’ve worked with her numerous times. I initially came here to gain experience, and now’s the ripe time."
"Professor Irving and Professor Fumble worked together, so all three of you know each other?"
"Not three, just two." She smiled, not intending to hide it.
At first, Lily didn’t grasp what ’two’ meant, pondering for a few minutes before realizing.
She was actually Professor Fumble!
After saying goodbye to colleagues in the design department, she drove to the studio in the yard.
The studio had basically completed renovation, with the sign covered in red cloth, waiting for the ribbon-cutting ceremony in a couple of days.
At noon, they had hot pot at the studio. Aside from Sophia, Hugh, and Corinne Chapman, they also invited two twin assistants, Eve Reid and Nadia Reid. Eve was the elder sister, Nadia the younger.
Both were relatively short but well-proportioned, making them hard to distinguish without careful scrutiny.
The women drank plum wine and ate hot pot.
Ding—
Sophia’s work account received a message from Zane asking if they could do a private customization.
She replied with a yes.
She chuckled, seemed she’d have to charge him well!
"What’s so funny?" Hugh Irving had dipped a lot of beef tripe for her, which she hadn’t eaten, only fixating on her phone with a silly smile.
Sophia lowered her head, picked up a piece of tripe, dipped it in sauce, and put it in her mouth with a satisfied look.
"That blockhead mentioned last night about finding time to take wedding photos, and now he just sent another message about ordering a suit."
Hugh made a sound of approval, "About time."
[Does the pricing have any standards?] Zane.
[Once you bring someone to measure dimensions and confirm the style and material, we’ll set the price, or Mr. Sterling can directly pay two hundred thousand, guaranteed satisfaction.]
[Send the QR code.] His reply came quickly, soon followed by a list of measurements.
Sophia stared blankly for a while, reviewing the measurements repeatedly.
These measurements weren’t hers.
Smaller than hers.
Zane shouldn’t have gotten her dimensions wrong, or was this not for her?
"What did he say?" Hugh leaned in, brows furrowed, "That bastard, ordering a dress for which skank?"
Sophia thought for a moment, replied, [Have her come directly to the studio to measure dimensions.]
She’d like to see who this woman was.
"Whoever she is, only a fool wouldn’t take the money; two hundred thousand is too little for him." She muttered.
Outwardly, she remained calm, but inside, waves were surging.
She hoped Zane was mistaken about her dimensions.
[Okay, thank you very much, Professor Fumble.] Zane.
[Mr. Sterling is working harder, who exactly is Mrs. Sterling to make you spend so lavishly on this dress?]
[Ordering for a friend.]
Sophia turned off the screen, took a sip of plum wine, and continued enjoying the hot pot, ignoring the man across from her.
Well then!
Ordering a dress for another woman!
Infuriating!
Hugh grabbed her phone, becoming increasingly irritated as she read! "Coming later? Hmph, I’ll have a look at who this woman is."
"I probably know who it is." Sophia remained calm.
"Who?" Hugh was very curious.
Her sudden calmness seemed to suggest an exciting drama was about to unfold.
"Just wait, when she arrives don’t let her into the tea room." She slightly curled her lips.
The tea room was beside the hall of the working area in the backyard, separated by fretwork, and covered with a thin layer of gauze, making it impossible to see clearly inside from outside.
