CHAPTER 137: CHAPTER 137: HE BLUSHED

The weather in March is unpredictable, the temperature gradually rises with the air, but it’s still slightly cool at night.

At six, it was already completely dark.

The makeup team had arrived in the courtyard, and Sophia was sitting in the lounge of the backyard, letting them work on her face.

Zane and Ethan were waiting in the hall outside.

During the waiting time, they were constantly refining the information in the documents at hand.

This time, Beau Morgan was not present.

That was quite unusual.

In the past, Beau Morgan never missed a social occasion of the car company, but Zane often did.

In the past, he never participated in such social events, but now it seems like he is putting all his focus on the driverless car company.

This time, the social event seems to be more important than before.

He dressed very formally, wearing a white shirt Sophia made for him last year, paired with a light blue vest and a suit jacket.

These colors are rarely manageable for most, but he seems like a clothes hanger, with a perfect figure, everything looks good on him,

Plus his buzz cut, his presence is felt differently wherever he stands.

Next to him, Ethan looked casual, with a slacker vibe even in his hair.

Fortunately, his black suit matched well, otherwise, he would’ve really looked like an unruly rich heir, without a bit of an assistant’s demeanor.

But Zane didn’t like his assistant dressing like a servant; the assistant’s presence should match the boss’s, equally.

"Mr. Sterling, are you sure you’re not considering the Zhuang family?" Ethan looked at the investment proposal that was cast aside, "It was confirmed last month, why suddenly stop?"

He sighed, nodded, but said nothing, though the frown on his brows seemed to indicate a big decision had been made.

He rubbed his forehead, seemingly troubled, "Can’t say for sure, check again, this went too smoothly, investment is not a child’s play, it can’t be hasty."

Ethan acknowledged with a yes, and then his phone rang, "Mr. Graham has arrived, I’ll go meet him."

Zane waved his hand.

Shane Graham is the manager from the headquarters of Sterling Group, hard to meet him usually.

At last night’s banquet, Beau Morgan was half-drunk, using the excuse of discomfort in her leg due to the weather, possibly rheumatism.

Ethan chuckled, rheumatism makes bones ache when the weather changes.

Her bones weren’t even touched, and the injury on New Year’s Day had long healed.

Zane didn’t say much at the time, he just informed her the next day to rest well at home if her leg was uncomfortable, as a result, Beau Morgan couldn’t come to the company, so Shane Graham was called in.

Zane was going to replace someone.

Ethan also caught some clues.

Shane Graham is a Northeastern guy, but not tall, about 1.75 meters, looking a bit anxious and somewhat crude.

"Mr. Sterling."

"Manager Graham."

Shane glanced at this courtyard, chuckled, not sure why this boss chose to discuss such an important matter here, but seeing Sophia half-covered doing her makeup, he understood.

Shane retracted his gaze, sat next to Zane, and said, "I’ve visited several partners in the past few days, not many that fit well, take a look at these two."

Zane leaned his elbows on his knees, among what he saw was the Lowell family’s documents.

"The Lowell Corporation, which suddenly reached the pinnacle of the internet industry in recent years. If collaborating with our driverless car company, it would be the best in terms of technology, and there’s great potential for technological development." Shane said.

Zane glanced at the file, then looked at Sophia, his eyes thoughtful.

If it’s the Lowell family, no need for discussion, just pull in the investment.

But the project’s too large, and the Lowell family lacks male heirs, with Old Master Lowell recently unable to keep up, likely unable to manage it.

Choosing the Lowell family still warrants some reconsideration.

Shane picked up another document: "However, on the whole, Sinclair Enterprises is the best choice, it’s relatively stable, only the old man there is said to be a stubborn one, with a vicious tongue, getting his investment would be like lighting a lamp in a latrine."

Shane speaks with a touch of humor, bold and carefree, letting his coarseness be fully demonstrated.

But it is this humor and grandeur that brought him many deals.

Ethan chuckled.

Stubborn one.

Zane gave Ethan a curious glance, only to look up again: "Do you know that stubborn one?"

"Huh?" Ethan chuckled, scratching his head, "I know him."

"Both your surnames are Sinclair, your relative?" Zane asked while flipping through the documents.

Ethan had been his assistant for so long, and his capabilities were apparent to all, presumably his relatives couldn’t be too bad.

"A relative, but haven’t been in touch for a long time." Ethan took a sip of tea.

Later, as Zane and Shane were discussing, Ethan listened quietly by the side.

After talking for more than half an hour, Sophia came out from inside.

All three men fixed their eyes on her.

Zane, in particular, felt his heart pounding, a heatwave rushed to his chest, making him feel hot all over.

He subconsciously swallowed, looking at her, unable to speak.

Ethan quickly nudged Shane, then packed up the documents on the table and retreated to the car to wait.

The makeup team behind also finished packing, one after another left.

"What’s wrong?" Sophia looked at the blushing man before her.

She seemed a bit uneasy, tugging slightly at her dress, "Not looking good?"

The man gazed at her with deep eyes.

The lanterns under the corridor cast a shadow on her profile, placing the nose’s shadow just right on her ruby lips.

She wore an Audrey Hepburn-style long dress, the fabric extremely smooth silk, outlining a curvaceous silhouette, her hair in an old-world European-style updo, her feet clad in black diamond-studded heels.

A South Pacific Tahiti pearl necklace, thumb-sized, adorned her neck.

Today, she was noble, she was elegant.

Zane had already envisioned in his mind her in a wedding dress.

He rose slowly, walked to her, took her hand, and gently pulled her into his arms.

"I don’t dare take you out to meet people now." He said.

Sophia frowned, "Why? Am I that unsightly?"

"You have no idea how beautiful you are, Sophia, I fear others might steal you away." His face was buried in her neck.

Sophia giggled softly, reaching around his waist.

He felt even more childish.

"Then you better protect me well, don’t let me get lost." She said playfully.

He slowly separated their chests, but his hands were still tightly wrapped around her soft waist.

"If only you could shrink, I would clip you to my belt so you’d be with me wherever I went."

He lowered his head, about to kiss her.

Sophia put her hand to his lips, "This makeup took so long, it wouldn’t be worth it if it got smudged."

He sighed and said alright.

"Your face is red, Zane." Sophia touched his cheek, finally stopping at his earlobe.

His Adam’s apple moved instantly, lips parted slightly, the beast within seemed ready to break through its cage.

She did it on purpose.

She chuckled smugly.

Zane snorted coldly.

For now, he really had no way with her, knowing time was tight today, otherwise, he’d take her to the room, even if he couldn’t kiss her, he could manage other things just the same.

He wouldn’t let her be so proudly arrogant in front of him.

He bit his lower lip, gave her waist a squeeze, "Little enchantress!"

She giggled, her gaze darting under him.

"Mr. Sterling, you’re quite the man." She laughed even more brightly.

Zane saw it all, she laughed freely and cheerfully, this feeling was akin to a clear breeze and serene years.

In his heart, he liked her even more, even less willing to let others covet her.
