Addiction to Temptation: His Mischievous Sweetheart Captivates Him
Chapter 85: My Wife Is Waiting for Me
CHAPTER 85: CHAPTER 85: MY WIFE IS WAITING FOR ME
The intent of the drunkard is not in the wine, but in the scenery between the mountains and rivers.
Yet the scenery the drunkard favors has not realized the presence of the drunkard.
Even though Natalie Vaughn specifically reminded Zane Thorne to check her two WeChat posts, the man, out and about, rarely uses his phone, let alone looks at WeChat.
It wasn’t until Theodore Langdon called Zane Thorne that Zane knew what Natalie had been up to early in the morning.
Jay Sterling, having just finished a round of training, was pestering Zane for his comments, only to find Zane, who usually treats his phone as an extraneous object, absorbed in it.
The most bizarre thing was, he had a smile on his lips.
"Mr. Thorne, what’s so interesting?"
With that, he tiptoed to sneak a peek at Zane’s phone screen, barely glimpsing someone’s WeChat profile before his head was seized and pushed away by a large hand.
Jay couldn’t withstand the force and staggered back, but reacted quickly, hugging Zane’s arm tightly, refusing to let go.
He shouted loudly.
"Guys! Mr. Thorne’s got a secret!"
Upon hearing Jay’s words, the others who were discussing training looked over and slowly approached.
Gossip is in human nature, even for men.
Zane squinted lazily at them.
"Want to know?"
This group of eager men saw Zane’s mood change from gloomy to cheerful, and their audacity grew, nodding uniformly and foolishly.
Zane chuckled.
"Who gave you the nerve to pry into my private matters?"
Still under the grip of Zane’s hand, Jay blushed and mumbled.
"You’re our big brother, Mr. Thorne, have mercy, or I’ll lose all my hair."
His hairline was already a concern, and he has been preserving it carefully, not wanting to buy hair growth products at a young age.
Zane glanced at him.
"I’m not just your big brother, I’m also your boss. Still dare to peek?"
"No, no more."
By now, Jay’s neck was red.
The others awkwardly laughed, stepping back and dispersing. Jay had a habit of exaggerating, and they were fooled into coming over.
Besides, is it their place to pry into Mr. Thorne’s secrets?
No, never.
Seeing Jay being somewhat obedient, Zane released his grip and turned to leave.
"Mr. Thorne, you’re leaving just like that? You haven’t guided me yet!"
Although every club member has a coach, everyone, including the coaches, hopes Zane would come over to offer some pointers.
Zane hadn’t been to see their training in a while, and this opportunity was rare; Jay had been waiting for a long time for his turn.
So how could Mr. Thorne leave now?
Zane didn’t even turn back.
"Plenty of issues, keep training."
Jay raised his voice.
"Then teach me! You taught all the other guys! Why when it’s my turn are you leaving! Not fair!"
Zane stopped, Jay’s eyes lit up, and he hurried over.
Only to see Zane turn around, frowning.
"I came on the second day of my new marriage, and I can’t leave now?"
Jay: ...
I think I heard yesterday Mr. Thorne and his wife registered their marriage.
So why did he come on the second day of the new marriage?
He seemed gloomy when he arrived, so did he have an argument with his wife?
But what kind of argument would happen on the second day of a new marriage? Shouldn’t they be loving?
Now he’s smiling like a flower?
Was it his wife’s WeChat post earlier?
Suddenly, a flood of questions raced through Jay’s big head.
He felt a bit aggrieved.
Even when Mr. Thorne was in a bad mood, he could still offer advice to others, so why, now that he is in a good mood, won’t he advise him?
"You can leave, but teaching me would take hardly any time."
"No."
Zane rejected without a second thought.
Jay was on the verge of an outburst, feeling discriminated against; how come other brothers get Mr. Thorne’s guidance and he doesn’t?
Just because he’s the youngest?
"Why?!"
Zane lazily glanced at the almost exploding young man and casually said.
"My wife is waiting for me."
Jay: ...
Overwhelmed by a wave of public romance.
The single ones were left utterly defeated.
Apparently, he wasn’t singled out; he was discriminated against along with the brothers.
How could they compare to the wife?
Just the timing wasn’t right, making it impossible for him to accept Mr. Thorne’s advice.
Jay was on the brink of tears, feeling wronged and unfair.
"Mr. Thorne! You’re supposed to be God Thorne! How could you turn into someone who is henpecked!"
Upon hearing the term "henpecked," Zane frowned slightly.
"How does going home make me henpecked?"
"Can you really not spare those ten minutes?"
Zane pondered, and just when Jay thought he’d get a favorable answer, Zane let out a cold snort.
"Yes."
So assertive.
If that’s not henpecked, then what is?
"Your wife summons you, and you immediately go home, Mr. Thorne! Where’s your authority?"
Zane squinted.
"Are you lecturing me?"
Jay: ...
Like he’d dare.
Jay woke from his indignation to find Zane’s expression had turned hostile.
Snap.
He’s doomed, seemingly having tugged the mane of a lion.
Is there still time to salvage this?
It’s all too late.
Zane turned to Jay’s coach.
"Brake into corners too rigidly, need at least another three seconds improvement; if he hasn’t worked on it today, don’t give him dinner."
Jay: ...
Three seconds!
Might as well starve!
Jay wailed.
"Mr. Thorne! You can’t treat me this way!"
Zane didn’t spare him another glance and strode out.
The coach came over, patting Jay’s shoulder.
"Work hard, isn’t Mr. Thorne teaching you how to improve?"
Jay was torn between laughter and tears.
Indeed, he wanted Mr. Thorne’s advice, but! How’s that an improvement! Three seconds! Isn’t that telling him to take flight?!
"Of all things to mention, why bring up the wife."
After speaking, Jay raised his hand to his mouth, unable to bear it fully, easing his force on his lips.
Meanwhile, Zane returned to his car, hesitating to start it, instead pulling out his phone to carefully read Natalie Vaughn’s two posts once more.
The mutual friends they share on WeChat had already sparked lively discussions in the comments!
All were clamoring that the public display of romance was overwhelming, urging Zane to join in sharing some affection.
But those who know Zane well understand he dislikes using WeChat—although, irrespective of his dislike, wouldn’t he at least like his wife’s public displays of affection on WeChat and Weibo?
Yet, after waiting for ages, no action from the male lead, others grew impatient, beginning to denounce Zane.
Theodore Langdon saw these comments and rang Zane, having another agenda too.
While Natalie was publicly showing their love, Zane, most likely in a good mood, could bring up the matter of being paired with her, hopefully avoiding a beating.
Zane chuckled as he looked at Natalie’s comment replies.
Little rascal, finally realizing her unfiltered words.
She’s admitting her mistake.
