That day, among the three of them, it was Sun Yingyu who exploded first.

He watched helplessly as Qu Chaozong pulled Peng Rui out, and Peng Rui obediently followed at Qu Chaozong’s side. The sight of their departing figures made his eyes bulge with anger. The man’s pride couldn’t allow him to tolerate such a scene, even if he no longer wanted Peng Rui or loved her, because Peng Rui was once his woman, his wife.

Sun Yingyu was like a man betrayed by his wife, completely unable to endure, out of his mind with rage.

Qu Chaozong stared darkly at the disheveled Sun Yingyu on the ground, veins bulging on his forehead, his expression threatening as if he wanted to rip him apart.

Sun Yingyu slammed onto the floor, and it genuinely hurt him; for a full half-minute, he couldn’t get up.

The police officer who had been pushed aside pulled Sun Yingyu up from the ground, firmly restrained him, and pressed him back into a chair, staring at him: "What do you want? Trying to make trouble in the police station?"

Sun Yingyu didn’t even glance at the police, his eyes fixed on Peng Rui: "You dare leave with him. If you go with him today, just watch if I’ll let you go! Peng Rui, try to take one step!!!"

Peng Rui’s eyes reddened, her back slightly trembling, lips tightly pressed together, she said nothing.

Qu Chaozong’s eyes turned red, and he coldly said: "Come with me!"

With that sentence, Sun Yingyu’s expression changed, choking on his words for a split second before flying into a rage.

"What did you say?"

"You wretched woman, you’re tired of living, aren’t you? Damn you, dare to say that to me again!"

Peng Rui stood there dumbfounded, her mouth half-opened, unable to utter a word. Her eyes quickly filled with tears, on the verge of crying, yet not daring to.

"Sun Yingyu, don’t go too far! What kind of man hits a woman? You damn well think you’re something special?" Qu Chaozong’s eyes were bloodshot, his gaze at Sun Yingyu as sharp as daggers: "Damn you, will you stop? I can’t shut that mouth of yours?"

Qu Chaozong barely finished speaking, about to rush over to teach him a lesson, when Shi Yang quickly caught him around the waist: "Chaozi, calm down!" This is a police station!

Qu Chaozong’s expression when enraged was like a wild beast on the hunt, his threat clear: Damn you, are you even a real man? Flaunting your useless mouth, I’ll rip it apart, try me and see if I won’t make you regret it!

The police restrained Sun Yingyu, scolding him with a few words to mediate. After all, it was merely a brawl triggered by a love dispute, and no one was seriously injured, so it wasn’t a criminal case.

Peng Rui clutched Qu Chaozong’s warm, strong hand, choking on her words: "Chaozi, let’s go."

Qu Chaozong and Sun Yingyu glared at each other, faces red with anger, eyes bloodshot. Qu Chaozong raised his hand, jabbing at Sun Yingyu from a distance, before taking Peng Rui’s hand and leaving the police station.

As soon as they stepped out of the police station’s gate, Peng Rui couldn’t hold back any longer and burst into tears, burying herself in Qu Chaozong’s chest, crying her heart out.

Qu Chaozong’s hands stayed by his sides, slowly clenching into fists, breathing heavily, his thoughts a chaotic mess from the fury engulfing him.

Qu Chaozong stood still, while Peng Rui cried in despair, feeling hopeless and helpless.

"Enough! Stop crying!" Qu Chaozong’s voice was hoarse, yet still held a trace of anger: "I told you to damn well stop crying!"

Peng Rui’s lips quivered, her chest heaving with sobs.

Qu Chaozong took a deep breath, closed his eyes for a moment to suppress his anger, then turned to Shi Yang and said: "Help me take her home, I have things to handle at the office, I’m leaving now."

"Chaozi..." Peng Rui tightened her grip on Qu Chaozong’s hand, unwilling to let go.

Qu Chaozong released her: "I have things to do, you go home first."

Peng Rui slowly let go of Qu Chaozong’s hand, her lips pouting slightly, a wave of frustration and oppression suddenly engulfing her.

Shi Yang walked over, gently said: "Peng Rui, let’s go, I’ll take you home."

Peng Rui gave Qu Chaozong a long look, turned her head and nodded at Shi Yang: "Thank you."

Shi Yang politely replied: "No need to be so formal, let’s go."

Peng Rui glanced back at Qu Chaozong with every step, until Qu Chaozong finally strode toward his parked car, unlocked it, and got in without looking back.

Peng Rui silently withdrew her gaze, just catching Shi Yang’s eyes.

Their eyes met, and Shi Yang suddenly said: "Chaozi already has a girlfriend, their relationship is very strong."

"He helped you today because he knows you, if it were someone else, he would have done the same."

"I hope you don’t misunderstand, you understand what I mean, right?"

Peng Rui was stunned, looking at Shi Yang with undisguised embarrassment in her eyes, feeling her grievances and regrets flush her face, unable to find her footing.
