Aether Chronicles: Birth Of A Legend
Chapter 248: Let’s Get Close
CHAPTER 248: LET’S GET CLOSE
Raegar and Yuki continued making love, guided by her feline instincts. She quickly took over and bit into his neck, earning a grunt as the shock shot through his body. He didn’t let up and grabbed her waist and started thrusting even harder, causing their skin to slap. The sound echoed out as the cat woman continued moaning her heart out. ’’Mhhhmnn~~ Ughhhh~~.’’
Without warning, Yuki wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling him further inside her, making him grit his teeth thanks to the pleasure flushing through their bodies. Following that, he couldn’t last much longer, and as soon as she kissed him, he exploded. Streams of his seed spilled into the cat woman’s womb, spurring her to let out a primal scream that bounced off the walls. ’’AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!’’
At that moment, the couple parted from their kiss, his crimson eyes blazing with the power of their intertwined hearts. A sharp, searing pain surged through Raegar’s body as he staggered to his feet, clutching his head. ’’Damn it!’’ he growled, teeth clenched against the torment. ’’It’s like molten lava coursing through my veins.’’
Yuki looked concerned as she jumped up and rushed to his side. ’’Young master! What’s happening to you!’’
Raegar didn’t respond, his body wracked with pain as he vomited a pool of blood. His insides churned, as if they were being shredded, only to be reformed in mere seconds. Strange fluids seeped from his pores, staining his skin. Griffin, Elysia, and his parents burst into the room, their faces etched with panic.
His father lunged toward him with his mother right behind, but the duo froze as Drusilla materialized, her presence stopping the chaos. She pointed at them, declaring. ’’Raegar unlocked his ancestors’ powers! He will change into something the world has never seen.’’
Just then, pain hit the blonde Dark Fairy, dropping to her knees as she let out one last shout. ’’Selene! Guard Rae and don’t let anyone touch him!’’
Following that, it felt like explosions erupted all over his body. The pain soon subsided, allowing him to breathe clearly, but that’s when he sensed a Devil trying to fly from the manor; his eyes glowed so fiercely that they lit up the room. This reaction shocked everyone around him.
Griffin lunged to stop him, but he vanished using Flash Step, escaping his grandfather’s grasp. Moments later, Raegar reappeared on the balcony, only to spot the Devil woman fleeing into the distance. She vaulted toward the wall, but he was determined to stop her escape. Soon enough, Aether wrapped around his limbs before shooting after the enemy, allowing him to catch up.
He flew through the air, closing in on the foul creature, who turned around, wide-eyed with shock as Raegar cast a Stormfire Bullet at the Devil. She reacted by casting a red barrier to block his attack just as the spell slammed into it, but it shattered. ’Fuck, let’s get close,’ he thought, grinning.
Raegar descended, landing as the Devil woman unleashed a barrage of necrotic spells, dark blasts slicing through the air toward him. With a ching, his daggers materialized in his grip and sliced through the magic. Explosions roared around him, illuminating the chaos, as he surged forward, a blur charging the stunned enemy.
The Devil’s eyes widened in shock, but before she could react, his daggers struck true, slicing through her defenses and cutting up her body. She collapsed in a cascade of severed shadows, the battlefield falling silent as he stood victorious, his blades dripping with the enemy’s blood.
Just then, he felt an even more foul aura prompting him to look in its direction. As he scanned the horizon, he spotted three figures in the distance. His eyes narrowed; their power surpassed his own. But before he could act, they vanished, leaving him seething.
’’Cowards,’’ he spat and turned back to the mansion.
He began walking back, dismissing his daggers as Griffin and his father, Alaric, appeared in front of him. The older white haired man commented, grinning ear to ear. ’’Looks like your grandmother’s Aether helped a lot, you seem even stronger now,’’ he said.
’’Yes my son,’’ his father added. ’’You found and killed that Devil without an issue. Shocked me when your eyes glowed that bright.’’
Raegar chuckled but quickly answered. ’’Yes, getting rid of the poison, I feel so much better if I’m honest.’’
When the two older men heard this, Griffin moved forward and suddenly hugged him as he spoke. ’’Thank god for that, you’ll be able to win the Grand Magic Games for Drakenwood and the empire.’’
His eyebrow rose at his Grandfathers words, but he quickly nodded. ’’Oh yes, I forgot about that. I’m sure Corrine will want me to fight in it as I’m the strongest in school and everyone knows it.’’
Alaric’s smile grew wide, slapping him on the shoulder as she exclaimed. ’’Good, my boy looks like your mother and I will have something to watch when the summer break is over and you’re back at school.’’
A broad grin spread across Raegar’s face at his father’s words, a spark of warmth igniting in his chest. Before he could respond, however, Griffin cut in, brimming with enthusiasm. ’’Come on, enough talk, let’s head back to the mansion! We’ll crack open some drinks and celebrate properly.’’
Raegar’s crimson eyes gleamed excitedly, a mischievous glint dancing in their depths. ’’Lead the way, Grandfather!’’ he replied eagerly, his tone laced with youthful energy.
His father let out a chuckle, the sound rich, as he clapped a hand on his shoulder. The trio turned, their boots crunching against the stone path, and made their way toward the towering gates of the estate. Dozens of Vaelthorne guards stood sentinel, their polished armor glinting under the torchlight.
All the soldiers knelt to the trio, but Griffin waved them away. ’’Continue as you were and guard the wall. We can’t let any more Devils into the mansion while the Duchess rests.’’
As the older man’s words echoed through the courtyard, the Vaelthorne guards snapped to attention, their salutes crisp against the evening air. The heavy gates creaked open, revealing the sprawling estate beyond, its spires silhouetted against the fading twilight as the trio stepped through.
Just then, Raegar’s gaze landed on five girls standing in a tight cluster behind Yuki, their leader. Her sharp, narrowed eyes locked onto him, radiating a mix of suspicion and annoyance, making the air feel heavier. Alaric and Griffin exchanged glances before bursting into hearty laughter, their voices bouncing off the stone walls.
Alaric clapped a hand on his shoulder, his grin wide. ’’Well, son,’’ he said, chuckling. ’’Looks like you’ve got some explaining to do.’’
Raegar’s eyes widened at the sight of the cat woman’s piercing gaze, but he squared his shoulders, steeling himself for her scolding. Stepping forward, he turned to his father. ’’I had to kill that foul Devil. If I hadn’t, it would’ve spilled everything it learned about our family.’’
At his words, Griffin’s face broke into a grin, pride sparkling in his eyes. He let out a booming laugh that echoed through the courtyard, drawing the attention of the nearby guards. ’’That’s my boy!’’ he roared, clapping him on the back with enough force to make him stumble. ’’You’ll put your cousins and uncles to shame, mark my words! You’re the Vaelthorne who’ll be remembered long after we’re all dust.’’
The old man’s excitement exploded, his voice growing louder as he paced animatedly, barely able to contain his enthusiasm. ’’A seventeen-year-old who crushed an invasion, drove back a Devil incursion in Drakenwood, and took down the Creatures of the Night! Ha! None of us, not a single one, pulled off feats like that at your age.’’
His hands gestured wildly, as if painting Raegar’s legend in the air, while Alaric chuckled softly behind him, shaking his head at Griffin’s energy. The guards at the gate exchanged subtle smiles, their stoic facades cracking in the face of such infectious pride. But soon enough, the cat maid and five girls approached him.
’’You’re injured! How you be chasing after those fiends?’’ Yuki demanded, worry crossing her face.
Raegar felt bad and apologized. ’’I’m sorry, I couldn’t let the Devil get away with whatever information she had.’’
Yuki’s expression softened at his words, thanks to instantly cheering up, knowing he was safe, her pink hair catching the dying light as a flicker of relief crossed her face. Without warning, she lunged forward, wrapping her arms tightly around his shoulders in a fierce embrace.
Her hug was warm, almost desperate, as she pressed herself close and whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. ’’I understand, young master. I just... I panicked. After all these years apart, I can’t bear the thought of losing you now.’’
Raegar stood still for a moment, caught off guard by the intensity of her affection, but then his expression softened, a faint smile tugging at his lips. Behind them, Griffin’s boisterous grin widened, and Alaric let out a quiet, knowing chuckle, the tension in the courtyard easing as the group continued toward the mansion.
