After Being Blackened All Over the Internet, I Ruled the Military Variety Shows
Chapter 795 - 785: Exciting, Watching a Joke
CHAPTER 795: CHAPTER 785: EXCITING, WATCHING A JOKE
Jiang Lingxi turned off her phone and put it back in her pocket.
The small group walking by the lake had now split into three groups.
Su Jincheng, Xiao Yu, and Yu Chang were in the jogging group, aiming to jog around the lake’s path, and they were already ahead.
Pei Shuxing declined to join any group, claiming because of his age, he couldn’t keep up with the younger ones. Passing by a pavilion, he saw someone playing chess inside and, feeling a bit tired, he decided to show off his chess skills.
Wei Minmin didn’t want to jog or watch others playing chess. She originally planned to return to the small courtyard to rest, but upon hearing a school choir practicing by the small square on the lakeside, she pulled Jiang Lingxi along, intending to go watch.
"You go ahead, I’ll walk alone for a bit."
"Huh?"
"I’ll walk ahead."
"Then I won’t go as a spectator, I’ll walk with you?"
"No need."
She didn’t want a third wheel.
"Then how about some filming?"
"Just follow you."
"Be careful then, don’t go to unlit areas and accidentally fall into the lake."
After Jiang Lingxi waved her off and walked away alone, she suddenly slapped her forehead, "Damn it, I totally forgot..."
Lingxi had previously told her that Mr. Shen was also here.
Nearly became a third wheel!
Jiang Lingxi strolled leisurely along the lake shore, occasionally taking out her phone to check the location sharing on the screen. Seeing the two small dots getting closer, her pace quickened a bit.
Only when she saw the figure approaching under the streetlight ahead did she put her phone back into her pocket, "Yunqing."
"Your Majesty."
"I must say, meeting like this secretly is quite thrilling."
Shen Yunqing: "..."
He held the hand of the person in front of him, "Was the recording of the program going well?"
"Not bad, everyone gets along well, and it’s just eating, drinking, and chatting. Quite relaxing."
No matter how others view the show, she had decided that’s exactly how she’d spend the next few days.
"And you? What did you do all afternoon?"
"Had a remote meeting, read a bit, strolled around the resort. Some of the entertainment there is quite fun."
"That’s not too boring then."
"I’ll scout it out first, and if it’s good, once you finish recording and if there’s time to spare, I’ll take you along."
"Okay! Oh, by the way, we’re going to a local wedding tomorrow, right in the village. I’ve heard it’s quite unique. If you have time, you should come too."
"Sure."
The two of them walked slowly forward, hand in hand, chatting as they went.
Xiao Yu, while running, felt that one of the two figures diagonally across from him looked a bit familiar, and his pace involuntarily slowed down.
Yu Chang, who had been left behind, caught up and gave him a firm pat on the shoulder, "Hey, what are you looking at?"
Xiao Yu withdrew his gaze, "Nothing."
Must have been mistaken!
Half an hour flew by.
Jiang Lingxi took out her phone and glanced at the message Wei Minmin sent, "I have to go back, be careful on your way back, and don’t fall into the water."
Shen Yunqing: "...You too."
He stood still, watching her walk away until she disappeared from sight, and only then did he turn and walk in the opposite direction.
When Wei Minmin saw Jiang Lingxi return, she walked back with her, speaking softly, "Lingxi, how’s the feeling of secretly dating behind the program crew’s back?"
Jiang Lingxi: "Quite thrilling."
Wei Minmin: "..."
She silently gave a thumbs up.
By the time they returned to the courtyard, Su Linlin was already asleep.
Su Ya was still awake, and after saying goodnight to those returning, she went back to her room to rest.
After blocking the cameras in the room and turning off the mic on her, Jiang Lingxi and Wei Minmin took turns taking a shower and went to their room to rest.
The hour-long walk earlier really helped, as they fell asleep shortly after lying down.
Early the next morning, everyone in the courtyard woke up to the sound of birds chirping.
Breakfast consisted of handmade noodles and stew.
Pei Shuxing claimed he makes the best stew.
Yu Chang, whose family ran a restaurant, took on the labor-intensive task of kneading the dough.
After Jiang Lingxi finished her morning routine, she and Wei Minmin took on the task of picking green onions from the neighbor’s vegetable garden, earning a pound of onions for each row picked.
When the two returned with two pounds of onions, they saw Su Linlin vying to help Su Jincheng start the fire.
Her attitude was positive, but stoking a fire on a rural stove is an art in itself.
Jiang Lingxi glanced at Su Jincheng holding the fire stick, his lips pressed tightly together. It was clear his patience was near its limit.
As she averted her gaze and went to wash the onions by the sink, she suddenly heard a voice behind her, unable to hold back anymore, "Are you trying to prevent everyone from having breakfast?"
"No, no, I just wanted to help."
"No need, go do something else. The more you help, the busier it gets."
Su Linlin never expected that in front of the cameras, Su Jincheng wouldn’t even pretend to be polite, and after being stunned for two seconds, she covered her face and ran back to her room.
Wei Minmin couldn’t help but laugh, using a cough to cover it up as she continued washing the onions.
Su Ya, just back from watering the flowers in the courtyard garden: "..."
Life is really hard for her!
Forcing a smile, she said, "I’ll go check on her."
Without Su Linlin’s interference, breakfast was ready in no time.
This time, Su Ya didn’t indulge Su Linlin’s embarrassment, pulling her out of the room even if she felt awkward.
In everyone’s mind, such a minor incident was already brushed off. Whether Su Linlin herself got over it wasn’t important, nor was anyone concerned.
Pei Shuxing looked at the aunt and niece duo, his tone and gaze as warm as ever, "Last night, we accepted an invitation from a local uncle to attend his nephew’s wedding. Su Teacher and little Su, will you two be joining us?"
"A wedding?" Su Ya was momentarily surprised, then nodded with a smile, "It’s rare to have the chance to attend a local wedding, so we should definitely go see what it’s like."
Su Linlin was nudged by her aunt under the table and quickly nodded, "We’ll go."
Even though she didn’t think a village wedding would be anything special, with everyone going, staying back in the courtyard would make no sense. Even if she didn’t really want to join the crowd.
"Then we don’t need to cook lunch; we’re all going to the wedding banquet. The program crew also prepared red envelopes for us, but these aren’t free. There will be tasks assigned later by the program crew to earn the money back."
Yu Chang didn’t care and waved his hand, "Tasks are tasks. Let’s eat first and worry about it later!"
Pei Shuxing handed out the red envelopes the director had given him earlier in the morning.
After changing into more formal attire, the guests, along with the handheld crew, set out.
This time, Su Linlin changed into a pale pink dress and didn’t wear sky-high heels, opting for white wedge shoes instead.
Su Ya sighed in relief seeing her attire, thankful she didn’t wear bright red.
It would be very inappropriate to outshine the bride on her wedding day!
As the group walked towards the wedding venue, Su Linlin gradually sidled up to Su Jincheng, "Jincheng, about this morning, I’m sorry. I really wanted to help, didn’t mean to mess it up."
Su Jincheng, without turning his gaze, walked forward, replying with a cold tone, "Hmm."
Su Linlin was left bewildered.
How was she supposed to respond to that?
Seeing this, Wei Minmin came close to Jiang Lingxi’s ear, "So awkward, haha, but I enjoy watching it. Poor Su Jincheng though, I feel for him for a second!"
Jiang Lingxi: "..."
Could she have read the situation wrong, and this girl really had no special feelings for Su Jincheng?
Still, matters concerning others, especially about relationships, are like drinking water—only the drinker knows if it’s hot or cold. She hadn’t planned to say much about it anyway.
Just a spectator, that’s all.
As for Su Linlin, as long as she doesn’t dance in front of her, it’s just a joke to watch and pass the time!
