I didn’t want to get entangled in the grudges from our previous life with Jared, so I took advantage of his silence and hung up the phone.

I had a pretty decent chunk of cash on hand now, so I decided to use some of it to buy a ce for my parents in Braylin. Once they retired, they could move there and live with my brother. Having a home would definitely give my brother an edge when ites to finding someone.

The way he broke up with Sophia–so cold and final–really showed me how serious he is about rtionships.

Prices in Braylin haven’t gone totally crazy yet, so now’s the best time to buy. Once I made up my mind, I talked it over with my parents the very next day. Next year, who knows what the market will look like–there’s no time to waste.

The next evening, I had just finished my shower and was nning to read for a bit before going to sleep.

But then my phone started ringing.

I answered, and I heard Edward’s deep voice on the line. “I’m downstairs. Come on down.”

I rushed to the window, and sure enough, there was a car parked by the curb, headlights glowing in the dark.

“You said you’d be gone for a few days. Howe you’re back already?” I asked, surprised.

Edward said, “I took care of everything with Nuan Nuan, so I came straight back.”

I nced at ine’s room–she was already asleep–so I crept out quietly and headed downstairs.

The car door opened, and I slipped inside. Right away, I was pulled into a warm hug.

I’d dashed out so quickly, I totally forgot my jacket. Sitting there in just a light shirt, I really needed that warmth.

“You smell so good. What is that?” Edward leaned in close, his nose brushing against my neck. “Smells like jasmine.”

‘Yeah, I did use jasmine body lotion tonight. The scent is so soft and pleasant,‘ I thought to myself.

“It’s sote. You should head home and get some rest,” I said softly.

“You’re noting with me?” Edward’s disappointment was obvious. “I just got off the ne and came straight here to see you.”

I froze for a second, a bit caught off guard, then said, “Alright, let me just run upstairs and grab a jacket…”

“No need. I’ve got plenty of jackets at my ce,” Edward replied, keeping his arms wrapped tightly around me as he told the driver to go.

We arrived at his vi, and the ce was wrapped in quiet darkness. The lights were low, the maids had all gone to bed, and the butler came over to greet us before slipping away.

Edward took my hand and, without a second thought, led me straight up to the master bedroom on the second floor.

“Wait here for me. Let me grab a quick shower,” Edward said, shing me a smile before heading into the bathroom.

I settled onto the couch in the bedroom and picked up a magazine from the side table.

I just turned the page. Honestly, I’m not the type to care about looks anymore. No matter how handsome a guy is, if he’s not my type on the inside, I couldn’t care less.

When Edward stepped out of the bathroom, he was wearing nothing but a towel, his short hair still dripping wet. His body was in great shape, radiating that raw, masculine appeal only a grown man could have.

I looked up at him, my hand frozen on the magazine, forgetting to flip the page.

Edward saw me staring at the magazine and came over in a few quick strides, grabbed it from me, and tossed it far away. “Stop looking at that.”
