CHAPTER 476: CHAPTER 476: YOUR PULSE BETRAYED YOU

Connor returned to his villa, and as soon as he entered the Garden Estate, he became alert: "Who? Come out!"

Natalie Niles stepped out from the dark corner, standing in front of Connor: "It’s me, I’ve been waiting for you, Connor."

"Why are you here?"

Connor’s face turned cold: "Get out!"

"You’ve been crying?"

Natalie reached out, wanting to touch his face.

Connor quickly stepped back: "What do you mean?"

"Nothing, I’m just a bit worried about you. I heard from Johan that you broke up with Cora, so I came to check on you."

Natalie stepped closer: "I also wanted to clarify that this matter really has nothing to do with me. Johan misunderstood me, I just hope you won’t misunderstand me as well."

Under the moonlight, she appeared especially elegant and charming. Years of martial arts training made her look particularly agile and energetic, even with bruises marring her face, her demeanor wasn’t diminished.

"Actually, you and Cora really aren’t suitable. You deserve better, Connor. She’s so materialistic, she’s not worthy of you."

Connor closed in on her, grabbing her collar, coldly asking, "What kind of scheme are you up to now? I’m warning you, stay away from Cora! If I find out this has anything to do with you, I won’t let you off!"

Suddenly, Natalie hugged his waist, with a hint of shyness on her face: "Connor, forget about her. I like you, I’m better suited for you than she is. I’m not materialistic and I’m more capable than she is. Let’s be together, okay?"

Connor shoved her away abruptly: "Aren’t you in love with our Young Master!"

"I am not!"

Natalie immediately shook her head: "That’s just a one-sided story from Miss Weaver. She misunderstood me! The person I actually like is you, Connor!"

"Like me? Like me by giving me pear laced with laxatives? Why didn’t you say it earlier? Why say it now of all times?"

"Pear?"

Natalie pondered for a moment before it dawned on her: "Oh, the pear from that day? What laxatives, I didn’t add any! If there were drugs inside, wouldn’t you have noticed?"

"Just because I didn’t notice doesn’t mean there weren’t any."

"Then I’ve been wronged. You didn’t notice anything, yet you insist I added laxatives. How am I supposed to explain that? I only recently realized I had feelings for you. All along, I just considered you a good friend, and you had a girlfriend before, so I couldn’t just butt in and randomly confess my feelings, right?"

Natalie stepped forward again, reaching to hold Connor’s hand: "It’s different now, you’ve broken up, and I can confess. Connor, do you want to be my boyfriend?"

Her hand gripped his, and he touched Natalie’s wrist with his other hand. After a moment, he smiled.

"Natalie, your acting skills are decent, but your pulse betrayed you."

"What’s wrong with my pulse?"

"Your pulse is so steady, so slow, only 50 beats per minute!"

"Isn’t that normal? I have good physical fitness; my heart rate is naturally slower than average."

Connor suddenly embraced her: "What about now? Natalie Niles, don’t you like me? I’m holding you, and your heart doesn’t change at all. How does that make sense?"

Natalie sighed, wriggled out of his grasp, and hugged his waist, resting her head on his shoulder, comfortably leaning against him: "I also have a great psychological fortitude, even if someone pointed a gun at me, intending to kill me, I wouldn’t experience heart rhythm disorder. You embracing me won’t make my heart beat change, unless you kiss me, that might alter it. Why don’t you try kissing me?"
