Chapter 205: You’ve Spoiled Her Too Much
CHAPTER 205: CHAPTER 205: YOU’VE SPOILED HER TOO MUCH
Bian Yue came home late, nearly at dawn.
She had sent Shen Jinci a message in advance, saying that she would be coming home late tonight, so seeing Shen Jinci still waiting for her in the hall took her by surprise.
"Jinci, why haven’t you gone to bed?" Bian Yue asked in astonishment, "Didn’t I tell you to rest early?"
"I fell asleep and just woke up," Shen Jinci replied, in his home attire, his usual aloofness subdued.
He walked towards Bian Yue, naturally taking the bag from her hand, helped her take off her coat, and then looked into the clear gray of her eyes and softly said, "How come you’re so busy just after celebrating your birthday? Yueyue, I hope you can take care of your health. Can you?"
"Today I..." Bian Yue paused in her speech, looked at Shen Jinci, and gently said, "Today I met with Lu Zhonian."
"Mhm, I know. This is about your work. You make your own decisions," Shen Jinci touched Bian Yue’s hair, saying with heartfelt concern, "It’s very late. Should we go to rest, okay?"
Bian Yue frowned, held Shen Jinci’s wrist, and her voice trembled, "But, I... I want to talk to you about it now."
Shen Jinci gazed at all the complex emotions on Bian Yue’s face, and he looked down, "Does it have to be today?"
"Definitely."
"Alright, then have something to eat first, and we’ll talk slowly."
The late-night snack prepared by Shen Jinci was a sweet porridge with honey and jujubes, with a light taste.
As Shen Jinci had guessed, Bian Yue indeed didn’t have the time to eat properly today.
She scooped up the sweet porridge, ate more than half a bowl, and finally began to speak, "I met with Lu Zhonian today because I have signed a partnership with him. Jinci, I didn’t tell you before, but I’ve been in touch with Xinghe all along. I really struggled between Lixing and Xinghe for a long time, and now, after repeated evaluation and consideration, my first choice is not Lixing."
Shen Jinci saw the anxiety in Bian Yue’s eyes.
She must be afraid of angering him.
Shen Jinci’s demeanor was cold and aloof, his gentle glow detached, his aura dignified yet restrained, inscrutable.
Amidst his silence, Bian Yue anxiously said, "Shen Jinci, if you have something to say to me, just say it. I’ve wronged you in this matter. I shouldn’t have broken my promise."
"Yueyue, I just have one question to ask you."
"Say it," Bian Yue hurriedly said, "What do you want to ask?"
Shen Jinci’s gaze was even, his emotions calm and undisturbed, as he slowly asked, "I just want to know why you didn’t tell me in advance, but waited until everything was settled?"
Bian Yue’s complexion went pale, she clenched the spoon in her hand, her voice uncertain, "I didn’t know how to approach you with this, Jinci, I really didn’t want to..."
"Yueyue," Shen Jinci interrupted her softly, saying, "You chose Xinghe over Lixing based on interests and rational consideration. You did well, and you don’t have to apologize to me for anything. I’m proud of your decision; I know you have let go of undue sentimentality."
Bian Yue looked bewildered at Shen Jinci.
Then Shen Jinci changed tack and suddenly said, "Just that, you should trust me, you should have told me about this beforehand."
Bian Yue’s eyes showed a shattered light; she put down her spoon, walked up to Shen Jinci, her voice shaky, "Right, I understand. Are you angry?"
"No."
"You obviously are," Bian Yue’s hand was somewhat cold, she touched Shen Jinci’s face, whispering, "Shen Jinci, if you’re angry, just scold me."
"I’m not angry, and I don’t want to scold you." Shen Jinci smiled, touching Bian Yue’s hand, "Is this what you wanted to talk to me about?"
"Yes..."
"Then, now that you’ve said it, shall we go to rest?" Shen Jinci clasped Bian Yue’s hand, his voice gentle.
A sourness touched Bian Yue’s nose, and she looked at her hand held by Shen Jinci, standing in place, motionless.
She looked down, emotions complex, "Shen Jinci, I broke our appointment... As a husband, you have the right to be angry."
Shen Jinci looked at Bian Yue’s stubborn face, smiled helplessly, and softly said, "Yueyue, as a husband, I can’t be angry with you. Whatever decision you make, I will support you unconditionally. Even from a partner’s perspective, I see nothing wrong with your actions in my eyes."
Bian Yue’s emotions slightly calmed down, she came back so late today, in part because she didn’t know how to face Shen Jinci.
But he just let it go so easily, showing no intention to argue or demand explanations.
He was more rational and mature than her.
Bian Yue let Shen Jinci take her back to the bedroom, she looked at his profile, her emotions churning.
Until late into the night, Bian Yue, holding Shen Jinci’s waist, said softly, "Today, I was already prepared."
"For what?" Shen Jinci chuckled.
"To have a big fight with you."
"Why would I fight with you, just because Lixing isn’t Honey’s first choice? Bian Yue, business matters involve mutual selection; you’ve done well. Going forward, you should continue to do the same."
Bian Yue’s heart tightened, she said, "Today, on my way back, I received a message from Shen Zhaoli. Shen Zhaoli asked me how I was considering the partnership."
Shen Jinci stroked her hair, nonchalantly said, "So, what does Yueyue think now?"
Bian Yue looked down, her voice low, "I still want to partner with Lixing."
"In that case..." Shen Jinci sighed lightly, understanding Bian Yue’s intention, "You want to build on the previous partnership and let Lixing give up Honey’s shares to become the second largest shareholder, right?"
"Yes," Bian Yue hugged Shen Jinci tightly, her voice hoarse, "Shen Jinci, am I asking for too much?"
"Yueyue, if you can get it, it must be because the board finds it worthwhile. I won’t stop you from doing anything, nor will I help you. As I said before, you do not need to have reservations."
Bian Yue, in the calm of Shen Jinci’s voice, finally felt reassured.
Exhaustion washed over her, "Shen Jinci, I’m a bit sleepy."
"Sleep," Shen Jinci patted her head, his movements gentle.
Bian Yue soon fell into deep sleep, so she did not know that in the dead of night, Shen Zhaoli braved the rain to come over.
In the study, Shen Zhaoli frowned at Shen Jinci, his shock indescribable, "Bian Yue partnering with Xinghe without even giving you a heads-up, Shen Jinci, you are really indulging her too much."
"She is the decision-maker for Honey. She needs only to be accountable to Honey," Shen Jinci’s voice remained calm, "You came over so late today just for what?"
"Fine, I’ll leave it to you," Shen Zhaoli sat on the sofa, frowning, and tossed a USB drive onto the low table, his voice cold and serious, "You guessed right, Li Sihe is investigating you recently."
