After Breaking Up, I Married the General
Chapter 40 - 39: Deciding Household Designs
CHAPTER 40: CHAPTER 39: DECIDING HOUSEHOLD DESIGNS
"The first basement is currently empty, as I still haven’t decided what to put in it. So, you can use the whole space to set up your laboratory."
"That’s great! When can I set up my laboratory?" Ryzel said. He was really happy that there was a space where he could set up his laboratory.
"We need to let the robots arrange the basement first. It needs to be remodeled into a laboratory, so you might need to wait for three days. We still need to buy the necessary materials for a laboratory."
"Ok, then I’ll be waiting for three days."
"Aside from a laboratory, do you need anything else?"
"I only need to have my own laboratory here. However, I do indeed want to change most of the designs in this house. Is that okay?" Ryzel said, then looked around the living room, which was also bare; it just has the necessary things in it.
It can be said that Layton’s house design was very minimalistic. It is indeed good, as it looks very neat; however, the house also feels very empty. That’s why Ryzel wanted to add a lot of things to make the house livelier.
"Yes, I told you it’s okay to change anything you want in this house.
It is our residence from now on, so you are free to change anything you want.
Previously, I rarely came here because most of the time I was on the battleship or at my parents’ home, so I didn’t pay much attention to the designs in this house," Layton Lewis clarified.
"Okay, then I will start ordering the signs and other furniture I want to put in this house. Do you have anything you want to change or add? So that I can order them all together," Ryzel asked, wanting to get some input from Layton Lewis as they are the ones who were going to live in the house.
"There is none for now. You can change anything you want here. Just don’t change any layout in my study room, but you could change the chair and wall colors if you wanted to."
"I see, then everything is okay. I will start ordering now and schedule their delivery tomorrow."
Ryzel scheduled it for tomorrow because today both of their friends plan to visit in the afternoon. If he ordered now without scheduling it for tomorrow, the things he ordered would surely start arriving in 10 minutes, depending on the distance of the stores to where they are now.
He won’t be able to arrange the things that will come in the afternoon. He would surely have no time to do anything else in the afternoon because of the visit of their friends.
Knowing their personalities, he was sure that they wouldn’t leave him alone for the rest of the afternoon, so it would be better to schedule all of it for tomorrow.
Ryzel started browsing his light brain for the designs he wanted and the furniture he was going to buy.
He looked through a lot of designs and picked different comfortable colors, not just shades of gray, black, and blue, which were the current shades of the house. He added different comfortable colors to the furniture and other things he ordered.
Ryzel ordered a lot of things needed at home and also some miscellaneous things for display.
He actually tried asking Layton Lewis’ opinion on the things he needed to buy, but Layton always answered the same thing: ’Just choose whatever you want’. After hearing it many times, Ryzel didn’t bother asking Layton Lewis afterwards.
He solely decided the things he needed to buy. If Layton Lewis has any qualms about the things he ordered, then he can only tell him tomorrow, as he ordered them already.
After he finished ordering, he saw that it was already near lunchtime. Time really flies fast when you are doing something. Meaning he and Layton Lewis stayed in the living room the whole morning.
He just sat on the sofa, browsing his light brain and ordering things for the house. As for Layton Lewis, he accompanied him in the living room, but he seemed to also be busy with something else, as he also had his light brain on for the whole time.
It is indeed understandable that he is busy because he was the general of an entire legion. As a general, he should be busy managing the entire legion. It would be more surprising if he wasn’t busy.
Layton Lewis should have submitted a leave of absence because they just got married. However, even though he is on leave, it can be seen that some work can’t be put down and needs his immediate attention.
It can be said that the two of them spent their whole morning in each other’s company, but they are focused on different things.
"Ryzel, what do you want to eat for lunch?" Layton Lewis asked after turning off his light brain.
"I want to eat something light. I’m sure I will be eating again once our visitors come, so I don’t want to eat a lot for lunch," Ryzel replied.
Hearing his reply, Layton Lewis frowned a bit but still said, "Okay, I’ll prepare something light for you to eat, but next time you need to eat something properly."
"Of course," Ryzel assured Layton Lewis.
Layton Lewis went to the kitchen and prepared their lunch. After a while, he was called to eat.
"Ryzel, it’s time to eat," Layton called him from the dining room.
"Okay."
Ryzel stood up and went to the dining room. He saw that a salad and a sandwich were prepared on the table, aside from other dishes. He immediately knew that it was for him. He sat on the chair facing Layton Lewis’ chair.
"Ok, let’s start eating."
"Yes, let’s start eating. I’m sure Lyre would come here early in the afternoon, so if we don’t eat now, we won’t have the time to eat later," Ryzel replied.
Knowing his friend, Ryzel expected him to come early in the afternoon, just after lunch, so they needed to eat before they would be disturbed.
Ryzel tasted the salad and the sandwich in front of him and said, "As expected, it is delicious!"
The salad dressing was properly mixed, and the egg sandwich also tasted very good, so Ryzel ate it with gusto. Eating the food prepared by Layton Lewis is really enjoyable. With just the food he prepared, Ryzel thought that getting married to him was already worthwhile.
Ryzel thought that even without the status of General Layton Lewis, getting married to him would be good enough as long as he could continue cooking delicious food. Now that his thoughts are almost the same as those of those people online, he was really lucky to get married to Layton Lewis.
At least now, he can eat delicious food every day without much effort. He doesn’t need to wait in line or wait until the restaurant has a vacancy on their schedule book. As long as Layton Lewis is around, he can eat delicious dishes comparable to those at high-end restaurants that needed to be booked months in advance.
Ryzel and Layton Lewis finished their lunch quickly and went back to the living room.
Ryzel hadn’t even sat for more than five minutes when he received a call from Lyre.
"Hello, what is it?"
"Hello Ryzel, I’m already on my way to your place," Lyre said energetically.
"Okay, just knock on your own once you arrive," Ryzel replied, uncaring about how energetic Lyre is.
After just informing Ryzel about his arrival, he had already hung up the phone.
"Look, I told you my friend is really eager to visit. Lunch hour isn’t over yet, but he already called me to tell you all about it. Please don’t mind it; if he offended you in any way later on because of his actions, please tell me about it," Ryzel said while looking at Layton Lewis, who was sitting beside him.
"I don’t mind. Mervin would also likely come earlier, just like your friend, but he wants to make surprises most of the time. In fact, Mervin also acts tactless sometimes, so tell me later on if he offended you in any way."
"Sure," Ryzel replied.
’Master Lewis, your friend Mervin Lewis is at the front door. Should I let him in?" The house robot standing in the living room spoke.
"Woah, so that robot wasn’t turned off?"
Ryzel thought that the robot was turned off because it hadn’t moved since morning. but it seems that it is turned on. It just didn’t have anything to do, so it was just standing in the living room without doing anything.
"Just let him in," said Layton Lewis.
"Why did the robot just stand there the whole morning without doing something for him or for you?"
"That’s the house manager robot. Its main duty is maintaining order for the household. As long as it isn’t ordered, it would just remain motionless."
"I see," Ryzel said, nodding in understanding.
Before Ryzel could utter another word, Mervin came inside the house.
