After Breaking Up, I Married the General
Chapter 44 - 43: Getting Along with Lyre and Mervin 2
CHAPTER 44: CHAPTER 43: GETTING ALONG WITH LYRE AND MERVIN 2
If Sean was going to marry Dwight he would of course need to follow where Dwight is. If Dwight is still in Layton Lewis’ Army which is still assigned at the border Sean also needs to stay at the border.
Ryzel was sure that the Hanes family can’t bear to send Sean to the border or anywhere close to where the battlefield is.
Even if the place the guides are going to stay at is still far from the frontlines the prosperity of the planet of course can’t be compared to the Capital Star.
Guides living in the Capital Star who don’t want to leave married sentinels that were already in the capital or those who would be assigned to stay in the capital.
In the Federation the Armies would switch their jurisdiction with each other every ten years. The sixth army is currently assigned to the capital so the sentinels in the sixth army have higher chances to marry guides who wanted to stay in the capital.
So Sean who lived his whole life in the capital surely doesn’t want to leave. The Hanes family also wanted to benefit from Dwight Barlowe so the letter of transfer is not surprising.
The sixth army still has six years to stay in the capital so as long as Sean has a child within that span of time he can stay in the capital star longer.
Guides who already have a child with their sentinels don’t need to follow the guidelines and follow their sentinels near the place they are stationed.
It is one of their benefits and a form of protection for the next generation. The federation doesn’t really want children to be near danger zones. That’s why guides and their children can stay wherever they want to.
The federation would even be the one to bear the cost of guides traveling to where their sentinels are stationed when their partners are in need of guidance.
Well it is indeed better if Dwight Barlowe is not within his sight as it would just remind him of what he has done.
He doesn’t want to always see those bast*rds as they are just causing him more headache.
"Yes I agree, let’s stop talking about him anymore," Mervin said while looking at Layton Lewis with a knowing look.
"Yes indeed. So Sir Mervin I wanted to ask something else. Why is the ninth army different from the rest of the legions? The other armies are all part of the rotation system that in every 10 years the army would be responsible for guarding the capital. Why is the ninth army not included in the rotation system?" Lyre asked.
The ninth army is known far and wide for their strength but their prospect of marriage for guides, especially guides who are staying in the capital was very low.
The ninth army is indeed known for its strength, the sentinels in the army should be receiving a lot of admiring gazes from guides and should have a nicer prospect in terms of marriage because of their strength but because they aren’t part of the rotation system and always stayed on the borders most guides doesn’t want to marry them.
The ninth army isn’t part of the rotation system which means the army can’t be assigned to the capital or anywhere near the capital.
If they are part of the rotation system even if they aren’t assigned in the capital there are still a lot of better areas where each legion was assigned that are not necessary in the border.
However the ninth army was not part of the rotation system and always stayed near the border and always in the frontlines of the battlefield.
A lot of guides are in awe of their strengths but when talking about marriage they would immediately back away.
The ninth army is often described as for the eyes only. You can only look at them and admire their strengths but not own them. A lot of people aren’t brave enough to be with the soldiers of the ninth army.
In the data showing the comparison of marriage rate of all the armies of the federation the ninth army has the lowest percentage of marriage.
A lot of people in the ninth army were single and most often they would be single until their retirement.
Ryzel knew that the existence of the ninth army is special in its own way as there was even no official response as to why they aren’t included in the rotation system.
A lot of speculations are indeed out but no rumor or speculations are even confirmed officially so even if people kept asking there was no response. Eventually people stopped questioning about it and just accepted it as normal.
As of now only a few people still ask questions about why the ninth army isn’t part of the rotation system.
Ryzel also wanted to know why the ninth army isn’t part of the rotation system.
"Well I can’t answer that question for you. But to summarize the situation a bit. It is because of interest and in the agreement signed by all the armies the ninth army’s role is to be the sword of the federation," Mervin answered.
"The sword of the federation? Is that why the ninth army is always in the frontlines and always in the forefront in all the big battles against the Zergs?" Lyre asked again.
"Yes, as a sword it is the duty of the ninth army to always be on the forefront of the battlefield. " Mervin said seriously.
"Ohh" Lyre nodded his head and asked again, "But because of that the ninth army soldiers have the lowest marriage prospect compared to the other armies. Isn’t it unfair for you guys?"
"Before soldiers can join the army there is already a contract explaining that they might not even have a wife for a lifetime. Only people who agreed with it are accepted in the ninth army.
So all the soldiers in the ninth army understand that they might be single for a lifetime.
However as a major force of the federation the federation can’t just ignore the soldiers especially the sentinels to remain single because of the risk of having a mania.
So after reaching a certain rank the sentinels would actually have their profiles in the priority lists when it comes to the matching system."
"Is that okay for you to tell us," Ryzel asked.
He didn’t know before that the ninth army had that kind of privilege given by the federation.
"Well it is okay a lot of people actually knew about it. It is an open secret in the army. No one talks about it publicly but everyone actually knows about it."
"Oh, then what rank should the soldiers reach before they can have that privilege?" Lyre asked.
"They should at least reach the rank of a brigadier general before they could be included in the privilege."
"Then my brother is indeed lucky for marrying my sister-in-law. He didn’t even use his own privilege as he already married my sister-in-law when he was not yet a brigadier general."
Ryzel remembered that Luke, Lyre’s brother, indeed married someone before becoming a brigadier general.
According to Lyre, his sister-in-law was actually saved by Luke when they were still young. The guide was the one who confessed first to Luke and Luke agreed to have a match test before anything else.
Because according to Lyre his brother is a person who only agrees to be in a relationship if the relationship would end up in a marriage. The result of the match test was ideal so after a while they got married to each other.
"Well Luke is indeed lucky in that regard he was not even the one to confess. A lot of soldiers were envious of his luck at that time so he was bothered by others asking for a spar for a long time because of it," Mervin shared happily. It was obvious that he enjoyed the spectacle when it happened.
"Anyway, enough talk about other things. We should talk about how to celebrate your wedding!" Mervin continued saying while looking at Ryzel and Layton Lewis.
"Yes indeed we should celebrate your wedding and Ry’s birthday!" Lyre agreed readily.
"So how should we celebrate it?
Should we go out and eat?
Order a takeaway and eat here? Or should we cook here?
Should we have a picnic?
Or should we go on a tour?
Do you want to go on a mecha tour?
Watch movies?
Go swimming?
Stargazing?
Going on a mini adventure?
Or do you want to just stay here?
Ry, General Lewis, what activities do you want to do?" Lyre bombarded them with questions.
"Lyre can you slow down your pace for a bit?" Ryzel asked Lyre as he listed a lot of things already.
Lyre does indeed have a lot of ideas when it comes to enjoyment.
"Okay. So what do you guys want to do? I already gave out a lot of my ideas?" Lyre said.
"Yes, he already gave a lot of ideas so what are we going to do?" Mervin also asked.
