CHAPTER 101: CHAPTER 100: MEMORY EPISODE (1)

The continuous rain outside didn’t stop, the sky was overcast, and the indoor environment was also shrouded in a layer of gray.

"You don’t eat when it’s mealtime, and now you’re hungry just two hours before dinner. I’m busy every day, and I still have to look after you to eat." Aunt Wangford was grumbling as she put the food on the table, not caring at all about the girl sitting in the seat, voicing her dissatisfaction.

Florence Fuller lowered her gaze slightly, pretending not to hear. She didn’t have an appetite at noon, couldn’t eat, but after being hungry for a while, she couldn’t bear it anymore. She came down to eat something, and the butler had Aunt Wangford prepare her some food.

Aunt Wangford, who was resting, began to express her discontent.

She wiped her hands, found no chopsticks, and was about to get them. Aunt Wangford came out with chopsticks in hand, almost reaching the table. Seeing this, Florence reached out her hand, only to have them tossed directly onto the table, producing a crisp sound as they collided with the porcelain bowl in the quiet dining room.

Aunt Wangford hadn’t expected such a loud sound from her casual toss. Her face showed a hint of unease, but thinking that Florence had no sense of presence in this house, she regained some confidence.

Florence looked at her, unblinking.

Aunt Wangford, unwilling to show weakness, said, "What are you looking at? Eat if you want; I still have to watch the sweet soup cooking for the eldest miss."

After saying this, she turned around to walk to the kitchen, but the next second, the sound of porcelain shattering exploded right at her feet.

Florence had directly smashed the bowl at her feet. Aunt Wangford didn’t react; Florence threw the chopsticks directly at her face, and the best dishes were all smashed around her.

Laura Yates and Clara Fuller, who heard the commotion in the living room, quickly came in and saw Aunt Wangford looking hostile and disheveled.

"What’s going on here!" Laura looked at Florence and then at Aunt Wangford.

Aunt Wangford’s expression fell: "Madam, this... this miss is hard to please..."

Clara Fuller asked concernedly, "Aunt Wangford, are you okay?"

After speaking, she looked at Florence: "Florence, Aunt Wangford has been with this family since I came here, always diligent and honest. How can you throw bowls and chopsticks at her?"

Laura’s expression also became unhappy: "You’ve only been back for a few days, and you’ve already developed a temper like this."

"What, do I have to endure her attitude just to eat?" Florence said coldly.

"I didn’t, I didn’t!" Aunt Wangford waved her hands repeatedly: "I just didn’t hold the chopsticks steadily and dropped them on the table. Miss, you misunderstood me; I didn’t throw them."

Florence thought her expression and tone were particularly like an unreasonable and shameless woman.

"Aunt Wangford didn’t do it on purpose, and you’re throwing such a big tantrum. You’ve only been back a few days. What does this look like!" Laura scolded.

The spirited fifteen-year-old Florence had never been treated like this in the Shaw Family. Unlike the Fuller Family, the Shaw Family wasn’t extremely wealthy, but the quality of life was above average, and she was never subjected to such grievances at home, with older siblings always favoring her.

It’s only been three or four days since she came back, and she was already filled with anger.

"You think I want to come back!" She fearlessly retorted to Laura, "I don’t want to stay in this rotten place at all."

Laura’s gaze turned cold: "This place is countless times better than that small place of yours; you don’t appreciate the blessings you have."

This confrontation between the two was hardly like that of a biological mother and daughter.

"Mom, don’t be angry." Clara hurriedly comforted, looking worriedly at Florence: "Florence, quickly apologize to Aunt Wangford and Mom, and this matter will be settled."

"What does it have to do with you!" Florence said displeasedly, "Why do you speak so disgustingly? It’s not my fault!"

Clara’s face turned pale; she couldn’t hold her expression, her eyes trembling as if about to cry.

"I... I..." She looked at Laura pale and helplessly: "Mom..."

Laura shielded Clara by her side, her eyes filled with anger: "You have no sense of gratitude. You don’t want to come back; then leave. I’d like to see where you can go."

Florence didn’t care at all and turned to leave.

"Hey... this!" The butler came in and saw this scene: "Madam, it’s raining outside, and the young miss just came back, unfamiliar with the place."

"Let her go; let’s see where she can go," Laura said.

She assumed Florence was new to Cloudsea, unfamiliar with the area. Without going outside, just to get out of this villa area, she’d need half an hour without a car.

She’d surely come back after suffering a bit.

But she underestimated Florence’s tenacity; she had no idea how strong-willed her biological daughter was.

Florence had been out for two hours, showing no intention of returning.

Silk Cloud Villa is the most expensive and largest affluent villa area in Cloudsea.

Eighteen villas are situated here, each with a land area of over a thousand acres.

Gardens, swimming pools, private areas, all included.

So as soon as Florence walked out of the Fuller Family’s villa, she just followed the path. Faced with a fork in the road, she looked at the signpost and continued on. In that short time, she was already soaked through by the endless rain.

And then she got lost.

She reached a gazebo to shelter from the rain; the rain grew heavier. The fifteen-year-old had no belongings with her; her wet clothes clung to her skin, and she felt cold.

She especially missed the Shaw Family’s parents, her older siblings.

She didn’t know how her mother’s illness had progressed; with that sum of money, it must be curable.

As it got colder and colder, Florence laid her head on the round table in the pavilion, consciousness fading. Despite feeling terrible, she had no desire to return to the Fuller Family’s place.

In just three days, she felt the hypocrisy, desolation, and disgust of that household.

"Sister, sister!" A gentle voice sounded above her head. Florence felt someone gently patting her back, calling out to her.

She sleepily raised her head and met a pair of gentle eyes.

"Why are you lying here? You’re soaked through." The woman’s gentle and beautiful face made her hallucinate, calling out, "Mom."

The woman paused: "Your mother? Do you know where she is? Auntie can help you find her."

"Not here!" She choked up: "Not here."

Abigail Monrose thought this wouldn’t do, seeing Florence was already soaked, her hair even dripping with water. She couldn’t just leave the child here. "Auntie’s house is in the front. If you trust Auntie, come with Auntie. If you don’t, Auntie can fetch some things for you or take you home."

"I don’t want to go back to that house." She laid her head on the table again. "I don’t want to go back; I hate that place."

Abigail paused: "Then, how about going to Auntie’s place?"

Florence got up again.

She looked at Abigail’s gentle face and nodded.

She arrived at a villa similar to the Fuller Family’s, but the decor inside was different.

Completely soaked, she stood at the entrance, hesitant to move further inside for fear of dirtying it.

Abigail smiled, comforting her: "It’s alright, the house will be cleaned anyway. Let Auntie take you for a bath and change of clothes."
