CHAPTER 114: CHAPTER 114: MEMORIES (14)
But that girl just stood there, expressionless, showing no sign of fear.
The incident of Florence Fuller fighting in the cafeteria stirred up a lot of commotion. She and her colleagues were also planning to eat there and happened to meet the director who had resolved the situation, so they discussed it.
Upon hearing Florence Fuller’s name, she hurried over.
"Principal Bright."
Abigail Monrose called out, striding to Florence Fuller and slightly shielding her behind her.
Florence was shocked by Abigail’s arrival: "Aunt Monrose... Why are you here?"
"It’s okay," Abigail softly comforted her, patting her arm.
Florence’s eyes reddened immediately.
A wealthy lady instantly recognized Abigail: "Mrs. Harper!"
Abigail glanced at this person: "You know me?"
The wealthy lady’s expression turned a bit unpleasant: "I saw you once at a banquet in France before."
Besides that banquet, she had accidentally seen Abigail a couple of times.
So she remembered.
Abigail smiled. As someone recognized her, the matter wouldn’t be difficult to resolve.
Abigail knew that the people in this room held significant status in Cloudsea City, and just the Fuller Family alone could easily be suppressed by these people.
"So, what happened?" she asked, glancing at the sofa where a few male students sat with bruised and swollen faces.
"Wasn’t this a fight!" Except for the wealthy lady who knew Abigail, nobody else recognized her, but they could tell from the lady’s apprehension and softened their tone: "The kids got beaten up like this."
Abigail knew Florence had learned taekwondo and combat sports before, so seeing these people beaten up like this by her was surprising.
Abigail said, "There must be a reason. This kid was raised at my house, and I know her temperament. It’s impossible for her to hit someone for no reason!"
A single line about being raised in her home changed the wealthy lady’s expression: "Then this... is all a misunderstanding."
She glared at her son, almost wanting to give him another slap.
The son, catching his mother’s look, immediately sprang up: "Mom, what misunderstanding, we were all beaten up like this!"
"Then let me ask, what’s the reason," Abigail’s expression turned cold.
Someone present had already gone over to quietly inquire about Abigail’s identity from the wealthy lady.
The wealthy lady spoke in low tones, and once informed, the person’s attitude towards Abigail also drastically changed.
He looked sternly at his son: "What’s the reason! Did you provoke someone?"
The father’s fierce gaze scared the son, who trembled while looking at his dad: "I just... mentioned something about a cripple... disabled."
"Explain clearly!" At this juncture, the company’s business dealings with Polaris were critical, and even if it wasn’t his son’s fault, he had to take the blame.
Abigail looked at the principal: "Principal Bright, do you know what’s going on?"
Principal Bright clearly understood the situation and quickly said: "I watched the surveillance; they had some verbal altercation. Basically, it seemed Florence was rumored to be dating a crippled disabled person or something, and perhaps she got too angry and acted first."
"Dating?" Abigail found it hard to believe: "This girl lives at my house, stays with me at school during the day, how could I not know if she’s dating?"
Florence tugged gently on Abigail’s sleeve.
Abigail turned to her: "I’m here, nothing will happen."
"So, what happened exactly?" The wealthy lady nudged her son, seeing her mother looking at her warningly, he also realized something was wrong: "Clara Fuller... said she saw her with a guy in a wheelchair... and often going to his house. We... just said a few things."
Abigail laughed coldly: "Is my son a cripple?"
The wealthy lady slapped her son hard, quickly looking at Abigail: "Mrs. Harper... I’m sorry, I didn’t supervise my son well."
The astute ones among them understood the situation.
"Let the kids go out first," Abigail said, "Since the adults are here, let’s resolve it ourselves."
She said this while looking at Florence, noticing she was pursing her lips, seemingly on the verge of tears. She consoled her: "Auntie’s here, nothing will happen to you, you haven’t called your dad, right?"
"My mom is with Clara Fuller in a competition abroad, my dad didn’t pick up the phone."
"Let’s not let them know then."
Otherwise, knowing would do no good for Florence.
"But..."
"Leave it to me, I can handle it well, I’ll message Ethan and have him take you to the hospital for a check-up."
"I’m not hurt," Florence said.
"Then just go home first," Abigail said, taking her outside.
The wealthy lady whispered something to her son, hurriedly pushing him forward.
The boy quickly stepped up and called out to Florence: "I... I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have provoked you, and I’m sorry to you too, Mrs. Harper."
His mother had just said that if they offended this family, his dad could end him.
With this boy taking the lead, the others followed suit and apologized one after another.
Abigail told Florence to pack her things and wait for Ethan at the school gate. After calling Ethan, she returned to the principal’s office, where only the adults remained.
Just now, while she wasn’t around, these people had been whispering, figuring out Abigail’s identity.
A gentleman was the first to speak: "It’s just small squabbles between kids, we didn’t expect to offend you."
With the Monrose surname, the Monrose Family was a renowned family of wealth and power, their business focus being overseas. These people would have a hard time suppressing them, let alone considering Abigail’s other identity.
Chairman’s wife of the Polaris Conglomerate.
That was even more unoffendable.
"If I didn’t come, wouldn’t these kids have been bullied by you?" Abigail stated.
"We didn’t know the kid was related to you, it was all a misunderstanding, we’ll definitely educate our kids well when we return, and make sure not to trouble you further."
Abigail said coldly: "Of course you should educate well, if I hadn’t come, I wouldn’t have known my son was considered a cripple."
"How could the Young Master from the Harper family be so," the wealthy lady said, "You heard it just now, what I heard was mere hearsay."
"Then you should’ve gone after the one spreading rumors, not this girl," Abigail replied.
"We understand now, and we’re truly sorry, Mrs. Harper."
Reluctantly, those present bowed and apologized under the circumstances.
"This has nothing to do with me, you’re talking about this girl and my son!"
The wealthy lady nodded: "Mrs. Harper, if you don’t mind, we will certainly come to apologize in person someday."
Abigail glanced at her, continuing: "This child belongs to the Fuller Family, but I’m in charge. Since you’re calling it little squabbles, I don’t want the Fuller Family knowing about this."
Those people’s expressions shifted rapidly, quickly agreeing: "Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes."
And so the matter was resolved.
Ethan picked up Florence, who stood absentmindedly holding her backpack at the gate.
Abigail had merely stated over the phone that Florence fought because of him, asking him to come pick her up.
And then hung up.
"What happened?" he asked, getting out of the car and walking straight to her.
