After Divorcing the Tycoon, I Married into a Wealthy Family Again
Chapter 117: Reminiscence (17)
CHAPTER 117: CHAPTER 117: REMINISCENCE (17)
Ethan Harper was momentarily stunned by her evasion, his dark eyes fixated on her without blinking: "Guess?"
It was the first time Florence Fuller had seen such an expression on him, less gentle and more chilly.
"Who is it?" He took a step forward and asked.
Florence Fuller bit her lip, stared at him briefly, then turned and ran forward.
Ethan Harper chased after her for two steps and then suddenly stopped, bending slightly to support himself on his legs.
Florence Fuller turned her head and saw his stance, instinctively sensing something was wrong, so she quickly ran back: "Is your leg okay?"
Ethan Harper looked up at her, and in an instant, Florence Fuller realized she had been tricked. She turned her head to run again, but before she could take a step, Ethan Harper reached out, pulled her in, and wrapped her in his arms.
Caught off guard by the close contact, his scent filled Florence Fuller’s nostrils.
"You’re deceiving me." His tone was certain.
"Then you’re deceiving me too." She said awkwardly: "That makes us even."
Ethan Harper chuckled: "You’re really clever."
Florence Fuller struggled free from his embrace, and the two exchanged a silent gaze. After a moment, Florence Fuller was the first to concede: "There’s a flower shop up ahead, let’s go have a look."
The two of them ended up arriving home later than Abigail Monrose.
They arrived just in time for dinner. Florence Fuller ran inside with a bouquet of beautifully wrapped pink roses, calling out: "Aunt Monrose."
"What is it?"
Abigail Monrose descended from upstairs.
"I got you flowers." Florence Fuller rushed over and thrust the pink roses into her arms.
Abigail Monrose was initially taken aback, but when she realized, she smiled brightly while holding the flowers: "Thank you, Florence."
Ethan Harper set down the things in his hands and said to his mother: "She picked the flowers and wrapped them herself."
"No wonder each one is so vibrant, and the wrapping is beautiful too." Abigail Monrose held Florence Fuller by the hand: "Auntie will arrange them in a vase and place them in the room."
Florence Fuller felt a bit embarrassed: "I’m going to the restroom."
A servant brought out a vase, and Abigail Monrose carefully examined the bunch of pink roses with a sigh: "The last time I received flowers was when I was pregnant, and your dad sent them."
After saying that, she let out a self-deprecating laugh.
Ethan Harper showed no expression as he arranged the flowers.
"You spent the whole day outside with Florence today."
"Yeah."
Abigail Monrose glanced at her son again: "Ethan!"
Catching his mother’s gaze, Ethan Harper replied without avoidance: "Yeah."
Realizing her suspicions were correct, Abigail Monrose felt somewhat conflicted: "Seems Eleanor didn’t get an answer from you."
"You knew?" Ethan Harper was a bit surprised.
Abigail Monrose nodded: "She told me first. Although I know you don’t have feelings for her, I was quite surprised that you actually... with Florence...!"
Since Ethan Harper had been in Cloudsea City recuperating for so many years, he rarely went out. It wasn’t long after his leg healed that she asked him to pick up Florence Fuller, and he actually took her out for the day.
Moreover, with Florence Fuller’s lively and somewhat rebellious personality, she was also someone who could endure a lot. Abigail Monrose always thought her son would prefer a gentle and quiet girl.
Besides, she still remembers when Ethan Harper first started tutoring Florence Fuller, he was often annoyed by her antics. However, he didn’t show it in front of Florence Fuller, and Abigail Monrose certainly wouldn’t let Florence Fuller know, but who would have known that by now, he was actually involved.
"You like her quite a bit too." Ethan Harper said: "You wouldn’t be happy if she were your daughter-in-law."
"Of course, I’d be happy." Abigail Monrose said: "But don’t forget about your father."
At the mention of Eleanor, Ethan Harper’s expression turned a bit cold: "Is he still refusing to divorce?"
Abigail Monrose shook her head.
Florence Fuller came out of the restroom again, looking a bit upset.
Ethan Harper was the first to notice: "What’s wrong?"
Abigail Monrose also looked over.
"I have no choice about where to go for university now." She laughed absurdly and handed over her phone.
Ethan Harper took it.
The chat showed messages from Michael Fuller.
"I’ve already picked your university; it’s Cloudsea First University."
"The class and finance major have also been arranged."
"There’s a city official’s son named Andrew Somerset. Be smart and get in touch with him."
Abigail Monrose took a look and inevitably started to get angry.
This obviously made it clear that Florence Fuller was being used as a tool for an arranged marriage.
Back then, Florence Fuller thought if she couldn’t go abroad, going to university in another city was a viable option.
But who would have known that even her university had been decided by Michael Fuller?
Florence Fuller looked at Ethan Harper.
Ethan Harper looked at her.
——
There’s still a month and a half until graduation, and students in Florence Fuller’s class were gradually decreasing.
Those who went abroad have gone, and those skipping classes continue to do so.
For these wealthy heirs, coming from quite affluent families, they didn’t care at all.
Florence Fuller finished her last day of classes and went home with Abigail Monrose.
"It’s winter break. Do you want to go anywhere?" Abigail Monrose asked her.
Florence Fuller shook her head: "My dad won’t let me go far."
"It’s not like you won’t come back." Abigail Monrose said: "You’ve been in Cloudsea City for the past two years without going anywhere. You can go out and have some fun."
Florence Fuller leaned back in the seat: "Then I want to go skiing in Switzerland... but I don’t know how."
Abigail Monrose raised an eyebrow: "Auntie can first accompany you to practice at the ski resort in Cloudsea City, and then you can go skiing in Switzerland when you return."
Florence Fuller thought that was a good idea.
This winter break, she didn’t have to take any extra classes. After being tense for so long, she deserved to relax.
The Fuller Family’s renovations were completed, and Florence Fuller was summoned back.
As soon as she entered, she saw many antique vases displayed, although she didn’t understand much, she guessed they were bought by Michael Fuller.
She intended to head to her room but ran into Clara Fuller.
"I haven’t seen you for over two months Florence, how have you been?"
Florence Fuller saw Laura Yates coming in from outside and bluntly replied: "Very well."
Clara Fuller also saw Laura Yates and sweetly called out: "Mom."
Florence Fuller bypassed her and went upstairs.
Laura Yates: "Stayed there for two months and now doesn’t even recognize her own mother."
Florence Fuller turned around: "Didn’t she just call you that?"
She glanced at Clara Fuller.
Laura Yates stared directly at Florence Fuller.
Florence Fuller pretended not to see it and returned to her room, only coming down at dinner time.
Michael Fuller had also come back, clearly in a good mood, smiling broadly at the dinner table.
Florence Fuller quietly ate her meal, until Michael Fuller spoke to her: "Did you see the message I sent you?"
"I saw it."
Seeing her indifferent demeanor, Michael Fuller held back his displeasure and tried to coax her: "I’m paving the way for you. You need to understand my good intentions."
Florence Fuller paused while taking a bite. Good intentions?
He could actually say that.
Clara Fuller knew that Florence Fuller had been arranged to join Cloudsea First University to meet the city official’s son, and a trace of mockery flashed in her eyes: "Florence, we’ll be in the same school, we’ll have company."
Florence Fuller looked at her: "So, you failed your exams huh?"
Passed them and still stayed in Cloudsea City?
She sneered lightly.
