CHAPTER 149: CHAPTER 149: MEMORIES (49)
Florence Fuller returned to the Fuller Family, but she still frequently visited the Monrose Family. Laura Yates seemed unwilling for her to get close to Abigail Monrose again. Florence said she was looking for Abigail’s son to tutor her, so Laura considered finding another teacher for Florence.
The Starlight Residence was not renovated yet, and Laura told her not to visit the Monrose Family unless necessary. Florence, not wanting to argue, decided not to go out and enjoyed the sunny day in the backyard.
The pocket watch in her hand was the one she took from Ethan Harper at the last banquet, and he hadn’t asked for it back, telling her to keep it.
Florence lay lazily under the sunshade, examining this pocket watch to see if there was anything special about it.
She was engrossed when suddenly the watch was snatched away, casting a shadow over her. Clara Fuller raised her hand and threw the watch into the pool, causing a splash.
Clara was annoyed with her. She had originally been kicked out of the Fuller Family by Michael Fuller and cut off from her allowance. Seeing she had to work part-time near the school made Clara very happy.
Florence couldn’t threaten her status, but at school, many men admired her.
Many people, both openly and covertly, praised her for being outstanding, independent, and very beautiful.
At a university full of beautiful women, Florence was someone who couldn’t be overlooked.
Clara worked hard to create an image of a wealthy beauty to attract boys, yet Florence, who didn’t care about these things, still had boys secretly crushing on her, liking her.
Moreover, she often visited the Monrose Family, but the woman there clearly didn’t like her. Despite going there many times, she never saw that exceptionally handsome man again.
She didn’t know what kind of relationship that man had developed with Florence. In her eyes, Florence was only fit to serve as a sacrificial lamb for the Fuller’s arranged marriages, destined to marry someone like Andrew Somerset, incapable of surpassing her.
She believed she was rightfully the eldest daughter of the Somerset Family.
Then, somehow, Michael Fuller found out about the incident at school, and he scolded her fiercely. Florence not only returned but also got a house worth over a hundred million!
How could she not be jealous and hateful!
Clara looked at her: "The teacher Mom found for you is here, and she sent me to call you."
As long as Florence dared to fight her, she had ways to make her despised by the family.
But she underestimated Florence’s temper.
Her anger flared up, and Florence stood up, emotionlessly staring at her.
Clara met her gaze with an expression suggesting "What can you do to me?" but in the next second, she screamed.
Florence grabbed her hair and slammed her head onto the tea table with a bang, drawing blood instantly.
She raised her knee and began pummeling her.
Clara screamed in pain.
She thought Florence would just slap her, not expecting her to strike so hard.
Her piercing screams quickly drew the servants of the house, who were shocked at the sight and hurriedly separated the two.
Laura Yates nearly fainted upon seeing Clara’s bloodied face, trembling as she pointed at Florence but unable to speak, clamoring to quickly send her to the hospital.
"You rebellious girl, what did Clara ever do to you to deserve this beating!"
Florence ignored her and went into the pool to retrieve the watch.
She went to the Monrose Family.
Abigail Monrose had returned to France, but Ethan Harper was at home. Florence messaged him that she wouldn’t come today, which made him a little unhappy, but then she showed up soaking wet, surprising him greatly.
"What happened?"
Florence had some scratch marks on her arm and her hair was wet. She held up the still-dripping pocket watch, her eyes slightly red: "It seems broken."
"Hurry, go upstairs and change your clothes." He frowned.
Florence took a shower, changed her clothes and came out, and Ethan was waiting outside her room with a towel.
Ethan, worried: "What happened?"
"I hit someone."
She gave him a rundown of what happened.
By this time, Ethan was already applying ointment to her, and after finishing, he threw the cotton swab away and hugged her.
"If you don’t like that family, then don’t go back."
Every time she came back, she was covered in injuries.
Florence leaned against him, feeling a comfortable sense of relief.
___
News of Clara entering the hospital reached Michael Fuller, and although it’s unclear what he learned about the situation, he was furious.
Florence was at the Starlight Residence then, turned on the speaker, and tossed her phone aside, continuing to work on the teacher’s assignment.
There was a moment of silence: "Are you listening to me!"
Florence: "I know."
Michael Fuller sighed on the other end: "Neither of you is any good, if it weren’t for..."
He paused, "Forget it, forget it!"
He hung up the phone.
Ethan placed some fruit in front of her: "Take a break before continuing."
"I’m almost done." Florence didn’t lift her head.
Once she finished the assignment and submitted it to the teacher, her vacation would officially begin, and Florence planned to go out and have fun. Ethan had been working on the itinerary recently.
"Help me take a look." Florence pulled him over: "The teacher asked me to add this financial analysis case. See if my handling of it works."
Ethan took it and handed her his phone.
Florence glanced at it; it was the itinerary for their trip, detailing when to visit each place and noting the things she wanted to buy.
Then she saw the last location.
A ski resort in Switzerland.
She remembered the bet she made with Ethan last year.
Her eyes gleamed as she looked at Ethan, who was focused on reviewing the case for her.
"Hmm, not bad, don’t forget to save it."
Florence breathed a sigh of relief: "Help me save it and send it over." She reclined on the sofa and stretched: "When are we leaving?"
A sliver of her slender, fair waist was exposed. Ethan, without diverting his gaze, first sent over the completed assignment for her.
"Anytime," he said, adding, "So our final stop is still last year’s ski resort."
"Exactly." Florence sat up, looking at him: "Do you still remember our bet from last year?"
"Of course."
They looked at each other, and the emotions in their eyes were the same, as if they both knew what would happen.
As winter break approached, Cloudsea City also started cooling down. Florence and Ethan embarked on a globe-trotting journey.
Having enough time and the right person by your side felt very comfortable and pleasant.
Arriving at the final stop in Switzerland, Florence was surprised by how quickly a month had passed.
They planned to stay at the ski resort for about half a month, giving them plenty of time and freedom. Florence went straight to sleep as soon as she reached the hotel.
She had the ability to sleep well; she hadn’t slept on the plane, so she made up for it with a whole night’s and half a day’s sleep. Ethan didn’t hear back from her by noon and went to knock on her door.
