CHAPTER 165: CHAPTER 165: FLASHBACK (65)
After Florence Fuller’s wound healed completely, Abigail Monrose prepared to go to France.
This time she made up her mind, she must break it off with Arthur Harper, even if it means causing a scandal in the Harper Family, she has to divorce him.
She was no longer going to be the dignified, gentle Mrs. Harper.
Florence Fuller and Ethan Harper still accompanied her to the airport.
Ethan Harper looked at his mother: "If there’s anything you can’t resolve, call me."
"Ultimately, this is between your father and me." Abigail Monrose shook her head: "You can’t resolve it."
"Why not have Ethan Harper go back with you." Florence Fuller suggested.
Abigail Monrose still refused: "He can’t go back. Florence, don’t think Aunt Monrose is talking nonsense, only if I confront him and make a fuss it might work."
Florence Fuller and Ethan Harper exchanged a glance.
"Then remember to let us know you’re safe." Florence Fuller said.
Abigail Monrose nodded: "Don’t worry, the Harper Family won’t harm me."
Watching Abigail Monrose go inside, Florence Fuller sighed.
Ethan Harper looked at her: "What’s wrong?"
Florence Fuller shook her head.
Ethan Harper held her hand, and they walked out: "Have you prepared the materials for submission to the school?"
"Yes, once the time comes, I’ll send them over."
Counting down, there’s still more than half a year left.
"When you receive your admission notice, we’ll go over ahead of time to get acclimated."
"Okay."
During the days Abigail Monrose was in France, she would still contact Florence Fuller via cell phone. Florence Fuller learned that the matter of her wanting to divorce was still quite tricky, her husband refused to sign the divorce papers.
"I think we never really had love, maybe when I was young I felt it wrongly, he married me against opposition, I thought I was special to him, but from start to finish, he was always a cold-hearted person, I regret so much why I fell in love with such a man when I was young."
Florence Fuller looked at the message Abigail Monrose sent him and felt an inexplicable tug in his heart.
A warm moisture spread across his shoulder, a scorching heat transmitted where skin touched, Ethan Harper mumbled: "What are you looking at?"
Florence Fuller handed the phone to Ethan Harper.
Ethan Harper read the message and locked eyes with Florence Fuller.
"Aunt Monrose is such a good woman, yet your dad doesn’t cherish her."
"He only cherishes himself." Ethan Harper said.
Florence Fuller recalled being taken away by Eric, the phone call in the car.
If she were really taken to France, what would she face?
Her shoulder blade itched, Florence Fuller returned to reality as Ethan Harper’s fingertips gently stroked the scar there.
Since this scar was left, every time Ethan Harper saw it he would stroke it like this.
Florence Fuller turned to face him: "You care so much about the scar on my body."
Ethan Harper looked at her intently: "You know I’m not concerned about the scar."
He was concerned about how it originated.
The two stood in silent confrontation, Florence Fuller’s leg brushed against his waist; she squinted: "I want a tattoo."
...
The tattoo artist looked at the design: "Do you both want identical ones?"
Florence Fuller’s tattoo was meant to cover the scar, while Ethan Harper wanted one to match hers.
The design was one Florence Fuller asked Ethan Harper to create, a flamboyantly blossoming flower; Florence Fuller chose red for it.
The tattoo artist glanced at Ethan Harper, a warm and elegant young man, then at Florence Fuller, a gentle and beautiful girl.
A match!
The process was long and painful, but Florence Fuller felt fine. Near completion, Ethan Harper looked at the tattoo artist: "Add a word for me."
Florence Fuller glanced at him.
Ethan Harper took the pen and wrote down Florence Fuller’s name in a flowing script, entwining it around one of the veins of the flower on the paper.
Ethan Harper said: "Just like it is on the paper, thank you."
The tattoo artist thought this man had quite an eye.
__
The tattoo covered the scar, the dazzling red seemed to come alive when their emotions were intense; one day, after a passionate moment, Florence Fuller leaned in his arms and asked the question she hadn’t asked that day.
"Why did you tattoo my name on it?"
Ethan Harper pondered: "Just felt like it."
Florence Fuller pursed her lips: "What if you..."
Ethan Harper looked at her, slowly pressing down: "What if what?"
Florence Fuller sensed trouble: "Nothing, nothing, I was just guessing randomly."
Ethan Harper chuckled lightly: "Too late!"
After a while, the girl beneath him murmured coquettishly: "You bastard."
The always gentle young man smiled and said: "You’re not just realizing it now."
----
Florence Fuller received the admission notice from the UK, Ethan Harper planned to go there a month early with her, but it got stuck at the Fuller Family’s end.
The Fuller Family somehow found out she wanted to continue her studies in the UK, Michael Fuller directly approached Florence Fuller.
But he didn’t forbid her from going as strongly as before; instead, he persuaded and even pleaded with her not to go to the UK.
Incredible.
Ethan Harper: "When you come back, we’ll see if there’s anything else we need for the UK, then book the tickets."
"Okay, I’m almost home, wait for me."
"Waiting for you."
Just after replying to Florence Fuller’s message, a phone call came in.
It was from Abigail Monrose’s phone.
He answered but before he could speak, a commanding voice came from the other end: "Come back immediately."
Ethan Harper’s gaze turned cold: "I’m no longer your heir."
"Do you think you can escape by going to the UK with her?" The other end mocked: "Come back immediately or that girl will surely die."
"You wouldn’t dare!"
"Watch me. Ethan Harper, your mother is dead, she’s next."
Ethan Harper was thunderstruck: "What did you say!"
"Come back and see her one last time."
The phone call ended.
As if signaling an end to everything.
-
"I’m back; the road was so congested. I messaged you but you didn’t reply Ethan Harper." Florence Fuller said while changing shoes, then walked to the living room, finding nobody there.
"Where is he?"
She called out while searching through the rooms, but found no one.
Her messages went unanswered, and calls weren’t picked up.
Very strange, was he planning some surprise for her?
She decided to do some of her own things, and wait.
It wasn’t until eight in the evening, when she finished her tasks and checked her phone again, Ethan Harper hadn’t responded.
She called, still no answer.
Both messages stopped at Ethan Harper’s last reply, which read waiting for you.
Florence Fuller called the Monrose Family, Sister Dawson said Ethan Harper hadn’t gone back, Florence Fuller then wondered if she’d upset him somehow, but Ethan Harper wouldn’t give her the cold shoulder just like that.
Or maybe a crisis arose at work that he was resolving, leaving no time to message her.
Florence Fuller thought it might be that.
But by the next day and still no news, by night she was thoroughly panicked.
Sister Dawson also couldn’t reach Ethan Harper, Florence Fuller even called Ethan Harper’s asset company but received no updates on Ethan Harper.
She decided to report it to the police.
Then the police stated that he hadn’t disappeared, but his itinerary was unknown.
Florence Fuller began to suspect Ethan Harper might have left.
