CHAPTER 168: CHAPTER 168: I DON’T WANT TO SEE YOU

Florence wasn’t unaware of his unusual behavior, but she was too lazy to think about it.

Luke changed the topic: "The driver responsible for your car accident has been caught, and James Fuller has also been apprehended, but the driver insists it was his fault, while James has distanced himself from the incident clearly."

"It was James, wasn’t it?"

"A large sum of money was deposited into the driver’s bank account, and the person who transferred the money has fled abroad. James is stubbornly denying it. We can only catch the person who transferred the money and question them further."

The driver has severed ties with James impeccably, and there’s no evidence pointing to James, suggesting his involvement.

"Bring back the person who transferred the money and sentence them along with the driver." Florence said, "Leave it to the court."

"James’ account, deal with it separately."

Speaking of this, Florence wasn’t willing to wait any longer.

Returning to her ward, Florence contacted Lily Hart and Lily Lancaster.

During her hospitalization, Lily Hart and Lily Lancaster were keeping an eye on the Fuller Clan’s movements.

Ethan Harper returned to see Luke waiting outside the ward. Ignoring him, Ethan went straight to the door, but Luke stopped him: "She’s having a meeting with her assistant, what are you doing tonight!"

Ethan paused, his hand on the doorknob loosened.

He leaned against the door and waited.

His body had just started to recover, and now he was already dealing with work.

Lily Lancaster and Lily Hart came out and saw Luke and Ethan at the door of the ward. They nodded as a greeting and then left.

In the elevator, Lily Lancaster mentioned she had previously heard from Lily Hart that she had run into her boss’s first love in Cloudsea City.

There were quite a few photos of the two of them together displayed at home.

As the elevator doors closed, Lily Lancaster nudged Lily Hart: "Just now, that man? The boss’s first love."

Lily Hart nodded: "Handsome, isn’t he?"

Lily Lancaster also nodded: "Handsome, he looks just like a gentleman, so that’s the type our boss likes."

"I also think her first love still has feelings for our boss, you should have seen how worried he was during the car accident surgery. He’s been by her side, staying in the ward every day, but... President Gardiner is also here."

They found it really perplexing.

They were surprised that someone like Luke, known for his playboy ways, had actually stayed to care for the boss during her hospital stay. Given his rebellious nature and free-spirited lifestyle, he would never have paid attention to Florence before.

"Could it be that President Gardiner doesn’t even know that’s the boss’s first love?"

"He probably knows. You can tell just by the way that person looks at the boss if it’s platonic or not, and someone like President Gardiner isn’t a fool. He surely can see it," Lily Hart said.

Lily Lancaster frowned: "Could President Gardiner have changed? He followed the boss to Cloudsea City, and I heard he even showed up on her birthday."

"The boss has been considering a divorce for quite some time now. We don’t know what President Gardiner, with his playboy mindset, is thinking, having women outside and yet unwilling to divorce his beautiful wife." Lily Hart clicked her tongue: "He’s truly a scumbag."

The elevator reached the ground floor, and as they walked out, Lily Lancaster had a different thought: "I suspect... he might want to return."

Lily Hart frowned, thinking perhaps he wanted to return after wandering enough, realizing his wife’s worth at home and seeking to mend things.

Lily Hart remembered what Florence had said back at Starlight Residence.

I don’t think much of him.

She breathed a sigh of relief, grateful that her boss was a thoroughly clear-headed person.

Talking behind the boss’s back was also wrong, especially since Florence treated both of them very well.

Lily Lancaster steered the conversation back to the main topic.

"I’ll contact Christopher Fuller and the lawyer on my end."

After the car accident, Florence was likely exhausted. She didn’t want to deal with it anymore and wanted to cut through the complications quickly.

The next day.

Laura Yates came to the hospital to visit Florence, with some freshly brewed restorative soup.

Florence was looking at emails on her tablet, Luke was sitting on the sofa on one side, and Ethan was at the other side of Florence’s bed, peeling fruit for her.

Laura was surprised to see such a peaceful scene with Florence and the two men coexisting in the same room.

"Florence." She walked over with affection: "How’s your health, why have you started working already?"

She seemed to have forgotten when she had previously visited Florence, Florence had told her to leave and not to come again.

Sure enough, the next second, Florence said coldly: "Didn’t I tell you not to come again?"

Laura took out the restorative soup from the thermal container: "I asked your doctor, and I found some herbs to brew soup for you, to replenish your energy and recover your health faster."

Florence looked at her without saying a word.

Laura ladled a small bowl and brought it to her, looking at her with some nervous anticipation.

"Ms. Yates!" Florence said expressionlessly: "You should know, I’m not very keen on seeing you."

She had worked tirelessly on the matters between her and Michael Fuller, only for Clara Fuller to effortlessly turn her against them in the end.

From the time she returned to the Fuller Family until now, she had always been just Clara’s mother. Pathetically, she had helped her but wasn’t appreciated.

"Are you still mad at me?" Laura knew she had done wrong, but at her age now, without the ability to earn a living, she could only rely on the Fuller Family to spend the rest of her life.

Just as Clara had said, Michael is the chairman of the company, and with their connection, as the chairman’s wife, she turned a blind eye to Michael’s affairs, living a comfortable life without worry for money.

"Are you worth my anger?" Florence said: "After all, I have helped you to the best of my ability. You didn’t raise me, so consider it as returning the favor for giving birth to me. Stop bothering me."

"What words you’re saying."

After all, with others present, Laura’s face couldn’t hold its composure, but she sincerely wanted to mend the mother-daughter relationship with Florence.

She thought Florence, with her cold exterior but warm heart, wouldn’t care about her current situation. After all, her attitude towards this daughter in the Fuller Family was nearly neglectful, but over the recent incidents, Florence had been urgently helping her.

She realized just how terribly wrong she had been and hated herself for not treating her better when she returned to the Fuller Family.

"I’m speaking truthfully, not joking."

She had no intention of even touching the bowl of soup.

"I know." Laura placed the soup back: "You undoubtedly hate me, as I indeed neglected you back then, only focusing on Clara and ignoring you. You have every right to blame me."

"Leave!" said Florence coldly.

Laura stood up: "I’ll come visit you another day. Take care of yourself."

She got up to leave and ran into Christopher Fuller as he arrived.

Laura thought Christopher had come to see Florence, but seeing the professional colleagues behind him, she sensed it might not be the case.

"Christopher, are you here to see Florence?" she spoke first.

Christopher nodded: "I have some business to attend to."

What business, bringing so many people and with such grandeur, it didn’t seem simple.

"You guys talk."

She smiled and left first.

But internally, she was faintly uneasy.
