CHAPTER 185: CHAPTER 185: FIANCÉE?

During the time at the farm, Luke Gardiner’s behavior was quite unexpected for Florence Fuller.

She initially thought this man would be difficult, and she was mentally prepared to deal with that exhaustion. However, to her surprise, he didn’t do anything out of line at all.

The most that occurred between them was verbal negotiation, during which Luke Gardiner maintained proper discretion and knew when to advance or retreat.

As long as Luke Gardiner didn’t overstep his bounds, Florence Fuller wouldn’t deliberately put on a cold face.

Therefore, during this period, their relationship could be described as mutually respectful.

Perhaps at this rate, the day of their divorce was not far off.

That’s what Florence Fuller believed.

After staying at the farm for more than half a month, there was no sign of the old man wanting to leave. Most of Florence Fuller’s and Luke Gardiner’s company matters were handled online, and Florence Fuller figured about a month would be enough.

"Pour the rice wine in slowly, then stir it, right, do it slowly."

Under the guidance of the kitchen aunt, Florence Fuller was making sweet soup when Luke Gardiner came in and knocked on the kitchen door.

Florence Fuller glanced back at him.

Luke Gardiner held up her phone: "Your secretary called three times, just hung up once, so it seems like there’s something urgent. You should call her back."

Florence Fuller’s phone was on the dining table outside, where Luke Gardiner was working, and noticed the three consecutive calls. He didn’t answer but decided to bring it to Florence Fuller.

The kitchen aunt took the spoon from Florence Fuller’s hand. After washing her hands, Florence Fuller went to take her phone and said thank you, then walked out with it.

Lily Lancaster had called three times.

Florence Fuller called back, and the other side picked up quickly: "Boss."

"What is it?"

"Here’s the situation," Lily Lancaster explained, "A lady has been coming to the company for several days looking for you. Since she didn’t have an appointment, the reception didn’t notify us, but today, I encountered her downstairs at the company."

Florence Fuller ran her fingers through her long hair: "So who is she?"

"I haven’t seen this woman in SJ City. She seems like a mixed-race woman, very elegantly dressed. She called out to me as I passed by at the company."

Florence Fuller listened to what she said next.

"She said she knows I work for you, and she wants to meet you. But I explained you’re not at the office, and she insisted I contact you."

Florence Fuller generally wasn’t keen on meeting strangers. Apart from past company needs for interests, now that her company had stabilized, those wanting to connect with her usually couldn’t obtain her personal contact details.

Her work contact information was generally managed by Lily Lancaster and Lily Hart, who would screen and investigate before recommending suitable people to Florence Fuller.

So, Lily Lancaster revealed everything she found out: "She claims to be the fiancee of Chairman Harper from the Polaris Consortium. She wants to talk to you."

"I looked into her. She’s the youngest daughter of the Cyan clan in France, named Nicole, and is twenty-six years old. There’s no news about her engagement to Chairman Harper, but it seems both families are keeping it very secretive..." Feeling the silence from the other end, apprehensively, Lily Lancaster asked, "Boss, do you want to meet her?"

"Meet her." Florence Fuller’s voice was calm: "Schedule it for tomorrow afternoon."

"Okay," Lily Lancaster agreed, "I’ll set up the meeting location and send you the details."

Florence Fuller hummed in acknowledgment and remembered a separate matter: "How are your preparations for studying in America going?"

Lily Lancaster was pleasantly surprised that Florence Fuller was thinking about her affairs, and she said with some excitement, "It’s almost all set, but there are still two months left before I leave. However, boss, I’m not going to America anymore."

Florence Fuller was puzzled: "Hmm? So where are you going?"

"France!" Lily Lancaster replied, "Didn’t I mention knowing a man? Recently, he got promoted and transferred to France, so I want to..."

Florence Fuller didn’t comment much: "As long as you’re sure about your decision, then go."

Lily Lancaster chuckled, "I’ve thought it through thoroughly, and rest assured, boss. Before I leave, I’ll definitely find a new person for the secretary position."

Florence Fuller smiled lightly, "I’m not worried about that. Do you have enough money? Is there anything you need arranged there?"

"Yes, yes, plenty," Lily Lancaster quickly said, "You know how high the salary you gave me is. I’ve saved a lot, enough to buy an apartment in the center of SJ City, but I might indeed need a favor..."

"Hmm?"

"Once I’m in France studying, I’d like to find a job. No matter how much savings one has, it’ll dwindle over time. And the expenses there surely won’t be cheap. Boss, could you help me find a job?" Lily Lancaster said.

It was something she had planned to discuss with Florence Fuller before departing, but she hadn’t expected her boss to bring it up herself.

Florence Fuller asked, "Do you have Samuel Morrison’s contacts?"

Lily Lancaster thought about it. Samuel was the person handling Florence Fuller’s investments in France. Occasionally, work here would connect with him. She did have his contact, but it was strictly work-related.

"Is the work-related one okay to use?" Lily Lancaster asked.

"I’ll give him a call and then pass his contact to you. Tell him your job requirements, and he’ll sort it all out for you," Florence Fuller said.

Lily Lancaster’s tone was evidently excited, "Thank you, boss. You’re the best! In my next life, I’ll work for you again. No, no, I’ll come back and work for you after I finish my advanced studies."

Florence Fuller chuckled, "Alright then, let’s hang up for now."

"Okay, goodbye."

Florence Fuller ended the call and rang up Adrian Morrison.

Across the ocean, Adrian Morrison had just fallen asleep in bliss but was instantly awake when the phone rang from someone who rarely called without reason.

"President Fuller."

"Did I disturb you?" Florence Fuller knew she had likely interrupted him and quickly explained the matter.

Adrian Morrison agreed, "Rest assured, when she arrives, I’ll take care of everything properly."

"Good, I appreciate it."

Florence Fuller hung up and sent Adrian Morrison’s contact information to Lily Lancaster before opening Ethan Harper’s messages.

The message interface displayed fragmented chat records between the two. Reflecting on Lily Lancaster’s "fiancée" comment, Florence Fuller’s eyes were filled with complex emotions.

"Florence," Luke Gardiner’s voice reached from afar, "Are you done with your work? The sweet soup is ready for grandpa. If you’re busy, I’ll take it over first."

Florence Fuller locked her phone screen and headed to the kitchen, "I’ll do it."

Luke stood at the kitchen door, handing her the tray, "Grandpa’s medicine is also ready, so you just have to give it to him directly with the soup."

"Alright."

Florence Fuller took it and headed to the study where the old man was staying.

Luke watched her figure, his Adam’s apple moving, steadying himself.
