After Divorcing the Tycoon, I Married into a Wealthy Family Again
Chapter 81: Why Are You So Cold-Hearted
CHAPTER 81: CHAPTER 81: WHY ARE YOU SO COLD-HEARTED
"Little President Fuller was taken away by the police."
Michael’s face stiffened, "What happened?"
"Miss Sunworth accused him of rape!"
Michael almost couldn’t stand and nearly fainted.
Long Island International Hotel.
Lately, Florence Fuller has been staying here, with a presidential suite and a meeting room, making meetings very convenient.
Now, the Fullers are repeatedly facing troubles one after another; everyone can see it’s a deliberate sabotage. But such a big piece of meat, who wouldn’t want a share?
When Christopher Fuller found her, his face was heavy. Lily Hart had just seen the meeting attendees out, leaving only the two of them in the conference room. Christopher said, "Are you crazy? Continuing like this, the Fuller Clan will only be taken over."
"What? Is my plan getting in your way?" Florence leaned back into the sofa, "Do you remember what I told you back then?"
Of course, Christopher didn’t forget.
"But your approach is too cold-blooded," Christopher said, "If this continues, the company will be gone."
"Are you afraid that you can’t get the company, or that even if you do, it’ll be nearly collapsed?" Florence replied, "If you can truly reverse the situation, then it would perfectly demonstrate your capability."
Christopher gritted his teeth, "You’re truly insane."
Florence said, "Didn’t my dad think I couldn’t stir any waves? Of course, I have to show him some colors."
Christopher frowned.
"It’s useless to come to me now. Instead, you should be looking for those board members. With James down, isn’t this a chance for you? I’m actually helping you," Florence said.
How could Christopher not think of this? Although the board members were anxious, they were observing for now.
They were still waiting.
Probably waiting for a reversal opportunity.
"Lily," Florence called out.
Lily came in, "Boss."
"Where are those things?"
Lily fetched a folder from a pile of document bags.
"It’s not hard to dig up dirt on James," Florence handed him the folder, "My father wanted him to marry Miss Sunworth, but apparently she wasn’t interested; instead, he forced himself on her and got reported to the police. My father surely will try to get him out, but do you think Chairman Sunworth will swallow this insult? Perhaps... you could go talk to Chairman Sunworth."
She pointed to the document bag, "It will definitely help you."
Christopher looked at it and understood, "You handle the upfront, and I’ll work behind the scenes."
If Florence brings down the Fuller Clan and he helps Chairman Sunworth get his support... he’s saving the Fuller Clan...
Another knock came on the door, it was Laura Yates.
She carried a plate of sliced fruit and upon seeing Christopher, was slightly surprised, "Christopher is here too."
Christopher nodded slightly, "Aunt."
"Have some fruit," Laura put the fruit on the conference room table and looked at Florence, "You’ve been busy all day and haven’t even eaten lunch."
In the past, this aunt was incredibly caring with Clara Fuller. Now seeing how she treats Florence, Christopher felt a bit surprised, "Aunt, how come we haven’t seen Clara for a while?"
Laura’s face turned pale, and she instinctively looked at Florence, who was smiling gently.
Laura said slowly, "She... her work is in SJ."
"Oh!" Christopher stood up and picked up the document bag, "Given the family’s crisis, no matter how busy work is, she should come back and take a look, right?"
Laura said, "She... she is busy..."
"Everyone is busy at times," Christopher looked at Florence, "Right, sister?"
Florence waved a hand, "Take care on your way."
Christopher waved back and left.
Florence also got up, stepping past Laura, "Eat the fruits yourself. I have work to do."
Laura wanted to speak, but Florence’s figure had disappeared. Lily followed closely behind, and Laura grabbed her, "You’re Florence’s secretary. Take this fruit to her; she hasn’t eaten and must be hungry."
Lily didn’t take it, "Madam, you eat it. If my boss is hungry, I’ll prepare food for her."
Then followed into the study.
Laura watched the beautifully sliced plate of fruit, her eyes slowly welled up.
The night was as dark as ink, deep and shadowy.
Silk Cloud Villa.
The living room that Florence had smashed up was refurbished, and after spending a whole day and most of the night, Michael managed to get James out first.
"Look at what a mess you’ve created!" A slap landed on James’ face in anger, "How do you explain to the Sunworths!!!"
James gritted, "The Sunworth family doesn’t dare to do anything!"
"With the company messed up by that ungrateful Florence!" Michael seethed with rage, "The Sunworths don’t dare to do anything? They’ll just keep a tight grip on us!"
"Dad!" James’ eyes were filled with malice, "They won’t dare. I have a video of Miranda Sunworth."
Michael was stunned, staring at him, speechless for a moment.
Autumn Taylor came down from upstairs and, seeing her son returned, ran crying to him, collapsing into James’ arms, "Oh son, you finally got out. You worried your mom sick..."
Michael looked at her displeasingly, "Enough, you cause trouble all the time."
"How am I causing trouble?" Autumn wailed, "Is it easy raising a child alone? A widow and her son, while you live well in this family?"
Mentioning this made Michael angry, "I called you in advance, didn’t I? I told you Florence was coming home to pick up Laura and you’d better avoid it, didn’t I? Serves you right for ending up in the hospital."
Seeing him blame her, Autumn cried into James, "You blame me, but how would I know that girl was so ill-mannered? You don’t stick up for me and say I deserve it; son... look at your father."
James, having just been released from the police station, was all out of sorts. He pushed Autumn away from his chest, "Mom, enough."
Autumn looked at him, "Son."
"I’m going to my room to rest, Dad. Don’t worry, the Sunworths won’t stir any waves, and neither will Florence." He finished and headed straight upstairs.
Autumn stood there, speechless.
Michael with a face full of seriousness saw Autumn’s stupefied expression, snorted coldly, and went upstairs too.
——
On the first day of April, Florence Fuller opened the door to see Luke Gardiner waiting in the hallway.
He held a bouquet of bright red roses and, upon opening the door and meeting her gaze, a knowing smile touched his handsome face, "Happy birthday, honey."
A surprised Lily Hart quickly lowered her head behind him.
"Boring," Florence was about to shut the door.
"Hey," Luke quickly reached to stop the door from closing, "I flew over from SJ City at midnight to celebrate your birthday, and you treat me like this."
Florence looked at him with a blank expression, "Did I ask you to fly over?"
Seeing her reaction, Luke’s lips pressed into a thin line, looking somewhat aggrieved, "Why are you so cold-hearted?"
