CHAPTER 91: CHAPTER 91: SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE RETURNED TO THE FULLER FAMILY

James Fuller clenched his molars, his gaze gloomy.

Michael Fuller glared at her, "You’re really rebellious... You’re going to turn the world upside down!"

"Actually, things were so simple from the start," Florence Fuller sneered, "If you had realized it before I acted, the Fuller Clan wouldn’t be like this now. But for your own selfish desires, for your son, you insisted on keeping the Fuller Clan tightly in your grip. Now... you can take this pile of things to hell with you."

"Florence!" James Fuller retorted harshly, "Don’t go too far. To get the company, you resort to such tactics. Do you really think that after the Gardiner Clan takes over, the Fuller Clan will be yours? No matter what, Luke Gardiner is a businessman. Would he give you the Fuller Clan’s current value for nothing?"

The Gardiner Clan takes over and gives it to you...

Florence Fuller didn’t fully understand the meaning of his words, but it wasn’t hard to deduce from the context that Luke Gardiner was still involved.

She didn’t pay attention to James Fuller and instead looked at Michael Fuller with displeasure, "If you can’t manage what your illegitimate son says, I don’t mind doing it for you."

James Fuller’s gaze was vicious; this woman didn’t take him seriously at all.

"If you don’t sign this divorce agreement now, when everything finally collapses, you’ll have nothing left. Then, it’ll be very easy for me to use some means to make you divorce. Think about it carefully, my father."

Florence’s red lips curved into a mocking smile, seemingly ridiculing their desperate struggle. She patted Laura, walking out together. As they neared the door, Florence quickly stopped and gave a reminder, "Think faster, okay?"

The silhouette faded into the distance, leaving Michael Fuller furious.

"Ungrateful daughter! Ungrateful daughter!" he roared in anger, "How could I have such a daughter? I should never have let her return to the Fuller Family!"

"Dad." James Fuller’s face was just as unpleasant, "What does the divorce agreement say?"

"Half of my assets!" Michael Fuller replied chillingly, "I can’t give her so much, I won’t give her a single cent!"

"The Gardiner Clan is also eyeing us now." Michael Fuller recalled the negotiations with Luke Gardiner a few days ago, where he proposed buying the shares in his hand, but he didn’t agree. Luke Gardiner clearly expressed his intention to acquire.

He certainly wouldn’t spend a lot of money; he would compress the value of the Fuller Clan, and when the Fuller Clan could no longer hold out, he’d deliver a fatal blow.

Michael Fuller still believed in the deep feelings between the couple, but Florence could easily make the Gardiner Clan cancel cooperation and withdraw from a project. Now, Luke Gardiner even wanted to take over the Fuller Clan in advance and give it to Florence...

It was like setting fire to his own house.

"Haven’t you finished investigating yet?" Michael Fuller looked at James Fuller.

"It’s not that easy to investigate!" James Fuller frowned, "If the Harper Family offends us again, it’ll be even worse."

Speaking of the Harper Family, Michael Fuller was also frustrated with Clara Fuller, "Clara Fuller is useless. I thought sending her to France might give her a chance, but she can’t even step over their threshold."

When he mentioned Clara Fuller, James Fuller suddenly remembered, "It’s hard to investigate the past, but Clara Fuller knows! Dad!"

Michael Fuller was also struck by the realization, "I’ll call her back. We need to sort things out with the Gardiner Clan quickly."

James Fuller laughed, "If a man were to find out his wife had been so affectionate with another man in the past, and that there might still be lingering feelings... there’s no way he would go to all that trouble to take over the company just to give it to Florence."

By that time... there might even be talks of divorce...

Lily Hart escorted Laura Yates back to the hotel, while Florence Fuller returned to the Starlight Residence, and Ethan Harper was there too. She was a bit surprised, "Didn’t you say you’d be too busy to come by for the next few days?"

"It’s alright, I still have some time," Ethan Harper replied, removing the apron from his body, "Come eat!"

Florence went over, the aroma of food whetting her appetite, and she began eating eagerly. Ethan Harper sat down beside her, "Where did you go today?"

"To the Fuller Clan. I went to discuss my mom’s divorce with the other party."

Though it couldn’t really be called a discussion.

"So, how’s the Fuller Clan doing now?"

"Same as always," Florence replied.

Ethan Harper reached out to brush the stray hair by her ear, "Can I really not... help you?"

Florence had previously told him not to interfere.

Florence shook her head.

"Then why is it that the Gardiner Clan can?" Ethan Harper asked, lowering his gaze, still voicing his concern, "Why can he..."

"Originally, getting him to withdraw investment and not proceed with further cooperation was enough," Florence explained, "But then he decided to make a move on his own. I still don’t know what he’s up to."

Having one more person causing trouble could push the Fuller Clan into crisis, making Michael Fuller feel the fear, which was a nice bonus.

Ethan Harper looked at her, his handsome eyes filled with a hint of pain. As he looked at Florence, he spoke with some difficulty, "I know it was wrong of me to leave for three years... I also know you were forced into this marriage with him... but I’m just worried... Will you... abandon me..."

She didn’t need him for anything she was doing now; he suddenly realized she’d grown in a way that didn’t require him, and a baseless panic started to rise within him.

If she no longer needed him, what would he do...

"Abandon?" Florence put down her chopsticks and took a sip of water, "Why?"

Ethan Harper reached for her hand, "Florence, how can I make up for the three years we lost?"

Florence sighed, "How to make up? Can time go back to three years ago?"

Ethan Harper tightened his grip on her hand, and he asked, "In your heart, do you still have me?"

He desperately wanted to confirm the answer, as if her saying ’yes’ would bring him inner peace.

Florence sensed Ethan Harper’s fear and unease but wasn’t sure what it stemmed from. She pulled her hand away, and Ethan Harper was visibly taken aback.

Then she cupped his face with both hands, leaned down, and kissed him on the corner of his lips.

Temporarily soothing his anxiety.

He trailed after her lips for a kiss, holding her tightly, the kisses haphazardly landing on her cheeks, between her eyebrows, her chin, then her collarbone.

His eyes turned slightly red with desire, his voice low and soft, with a barely noticeable plea, "I want..."

The abrupt ringing interrupted them. Florence pushed him away, patted him soothingly on the chest, and went to fetch her phone by the floor-to-ceiling window to answer the call.

Ethan Harper watched her back, lost in thought.

Florence answered the call and was about to leave, having eaten only a little of her meal. She grabbed a jacket and saw Ethan Harper’s forlorn expression. She went over, stood on tiptoe, and kissed the corner of his lips, "I’ll make it up to you next time."

The closing door brought him back to reality.

Next time... if there’s a chance...

He sat quietly on the sofa, lost in silence.
