Chapter 7: Chapter 7 The Truth of That Year

    She had made a point of wearing light makeup today and had even spritzed on some seductive perfume.

    When her soft body pressed against his, it was like a bewitching water snake entangling him.

    Under the warm lighting, her features all seemed much more delicate.

    For some reason, despite Shen Jiangqing''s beautiful face before him, the image that flashed through his mind was Ning Yichu''s mocking expression, and he coldly pushed her away, "It seems your foot is fine now."

    "Aling, don''t go!" Shen Jiangqing grabbed him, "Please don''t leave tonight? For five years, you haven''t touched me, even the servants are laughing at me for being an abandoned wife..."

    "The doctor has said, you are not suited for strenuous exercise, rest early."

    "Let''s not talk about the past anymore. If I blamed you, I wouldn''t have let you give birth to the child," Li Lingyang''s deep dark eyes showed a flicker of emotion. Speaking indifferently, he told her to rest early and turned back to his own room.

    For these five years, they slept in separate rooms, living together, but only to take care of the twins.

    Recently, Granny Li had started to miss the children, and so she had taken them over—otherwise, he wouldn''t have brought Ning Yichu here.

    Shen Jiangqing watched the man''s tall figure with a resolute gaze.

    This man was the youngest Night Emperor of Imperial City, controlling the livelihood of myriads of people, and she would not allow anyone to take him away!

    The next morning, Ning Yichu slept in quite a bit. When she came downstairs, Shen Jiangqing was languidly lying on a divan, being massaged by a maid.

    With no time to deal with her, Ning Yichu pushed the window open, successfully climbed down the drainpipe, then sprinted to escape through a hole in the back garden.

    Not until she entered the small path downhill did she resume her conversation with Chen Bao.

    At that moment, an old, beat-up Polo stopped at a secluded little path on the mountainside.

    A handsome little chap jumped down, accompanied by a cute little girl. Both wore matching yellow duck masks, their big eyes rolling around as if surveying the environment.

    Next to exit the car was a tall, curvaceous, and sexy woman, also wearing the same mask, revealing only her full, smooth forehead and similarly rolling eyes.

    This was Ning Yichu''s best friend, the controversial darling of the entertainment industry, Fan Yuke!

    She seemed like a mature woman, but one word revealed her ditzy, sweet innocence.

    "Oh my, look kiddos, that up there is the super luxurious Imperial City Dragon Bay, supposedly one villa is worth over a billion, your scumbag dad owns several, such a capitalist tycoon..." she pointed and said at the end of the road.

    "Godmother, think bigger, you''re at least a celebrity in the entertainment world."

    "Chen Bao, babe, you don''t know, out of a hundred fans I have, 88 are haters, all the hype, no money coming in."

    Chen Bao''s forehead nearly twitched with three black lines as he said helplessly, "Infamy is still fame, though."

    "Look, sweetie, here''s your laptop, quick, see how your mommy''s doing..." Fan Yuke handed over a kawaii laptop to Chen Bao.

    Chen Bao opened it, and his little hands tapped away so quickly that they seemed to leave afterimages on the keyboard.

    Then, Fan Yuke saw the laptop screen divided into eight segments, each corresponding to different surveillance areas.

    Pointing at the screen, she excitedly informed Ning Yichu through the Bluetooth earpiece, "Chu Chu, I see loads of bodyguards moving out in the villa, they must''ve realized you''ve escaped..."

    Ning Yichu understood that Shen Jiangqing must have started looking for her after noticing she was missing.

    "Tell me the safest escape route."

    Chen Bao looked at the map for a moment, "The road ahead is too open, you''d be exposed too easily."

    "Then I''ll find a corner to hide. You guys come in the car to pick me up."

    Ning Yichu finished speaking and found a hidden spot in the roadside bushes to hide herself.

    Every so often, she heard black luxury cars going up and down the road, probably thinking she had escaped via the main road and searching for her.

    Ning Yichu held her breath and waited patiently, knowing people tend to think predictably. Realizing she had escaped, the bodyguards'' first reaction would be to think she had fled down the mountain, neglecting that the most dangerous place could indeed be the safest.

    As long as she hid for a while longer, and the bodyguards all went down the mountain, she''d be safe.

    However, just then, she heard a rustling sound behind her, accompanied by very light footsteps.

    Ning Yichu''s nerves tensed up instantly, thinking a bodyguard had found her, but when she turned around, she saw a cute little girl with a ponytail sticking up on her head, holding a transparent little bag, looking at her perplexedly—as if questioning why she was hiding there.
