After Prison, She Shocks the World
Chapter 226: Making More People Willing to Work for Fu Bing
CHAPTER 226: CHAPTER 226: MAKING MORE PEOPLE WILLING TO WORK FOR FU BING
Qin Jinhai told Fu Bing about Qin Sheng.
After listening, Fu Bing was surprisingly unshocked.
She calmly said, "From now on, we must carefully watch those around us. We can’t let anyone whose background is unclear get too close, nor can we allow them access to important projects."
"Wu Shi, next, we will divide the Qin Family’s assets as much as possible. Whether openly or privately, I want to strip Qin Sheng of any assets he can manipulate. Even if we can’t seize more from him, we’ll thoroughly disgust him."
"Leave it to me."
"I’m sorry. You’ve just recovered, and I’m already burdening you with so much."
"I like it when you trouble me," Qin Jinhai said, looking at her seriously. "Don’t be constrained by your celebrity career; it was just a job you once had. The Qin Family harmed you, so it’s only right for you to seek revenge. If those young fans don’t understand, let them go. You don’t need to care too much."
"That’s what I think too," Fu Bing said with a light chuckle, shaking her head. "My concerns did include them, but I was more worried about Qin Jinhai. Back when his life or death was uncertain, I didn’t know how to face his family. After the Qin Family Mansion burned down, I became certain he was still alive. Han Hu also used this method to disappear. I believe the burning of the Qin Family Mansion was likely to hide traces as well."
"Since he’s alive, I can seek revenge without any reservations. If he has any objections, he can come find me and voice them!"
Qin Jinhai smiled as he watched her resolve return.
With an almost doting tone, he asked her, "So, your uncertainty during this time was because of Qin Jinhai?"
Fu Bing nodded. "I won’t waver anymore."
"I believe you."
Qin Jinhai felt a sense of relief and no longer concerned himself with Qin Sheng’s whereabouts.
Eliminating Qin Sheng and the Clan Association wasn’t something that could be achieved quickly. His reappearance, however, was an unexpected development. Given its unexpected nature, they couldn’t achieve their goal rapidly.
Qin Mu and Qin Zhiheng regaining their freedom was actually more useful to him.
Both Qin Zhiheng and Lai Shenlan were quick-witted and shrewd. If they could join forces, they would be formidable in the future.
Qin Zhiheng had almost no assets. By aligning with Lai Shenlan, he could access more resources.
Lai Shenlan was close to his age, so they would surely have much to discuss.
Qin Jinhai informed Fu Bing and then personally drove Qin Zhiheng and Qin Mu to the Lai Family estate.
Lai Shenlan ran out excitedly. She exclaimed, "Brother Wu Shi, did Sister Bing not come?"
"It’s too cold, so I didn’t let her come out. I’ve brought two new friends for you."
Lai Shenlan boldly sized up Qin Zhiheng. "I know them," she stated.
Lai Shenlan and Qin Zhiheng were both very intelligent children.
She immediately understood Wu Shi’s implication.
"Qin Zhiheng, welcome to the team. Here in the Lai Family, you’ll listen to me. Privately, we’ll become the best of friends!"
Lai Shenlan’s health had recovered well, but her height hadn’t changed noticeably.
Standing before Qin Zhiheng, she appeared more like a child. Her words, however, were quite imperious, belying her youthful appearance.
Amusement glinted in Qin Zhiheng’s eyes. "I agree! I can handle anyone you want to deal with!"
"Just use the same tactics you employed against the Qin Family. Of course, I believe your other abilities are even more outstanding, and I look forward to seeing them!"
Lai Shenyan stood nearby, watching them with an uneasy premonition. It seemed his sister had attracted the attention of a certain wild one.
He didn’t interrupt his sister’s interaction with Qin Zhiheng. Shenlan had no friends. Given her intelligence and insight, it was unlikely she would find friends among her peers. Qin Zhiheng, however, was the most suitable companion for her. She needed someone to share with, someone on her wavelength.
As Lai Shenlan began showing Qin Zhiheng and Qin Mu around the Lai Family estate, Lai Shenyan approached Wu Shi and grudgingly thumped him on the chest twice.
"Damn it, you’re clever," he said. "You actually used a brat to permanently tie Shenlan to Sister Bing’s side."
"Everyone has their own needs. I’m willing to help you because you can be a support for Xiaobing." Wu Shi never hid his intentions, adding, "Only permanent mutual interests can sustain our relationship."
Lai Shenyan was rendered speechless. "I can’t outsmart you all. My brain isn’t a match for yours. As long as I obediently follow my sister, I’ll have a steady livelihood."
Wu Shi didn’t agree with Lai Shenyan’s self-deprecation. "You’re smart. You know how to best cooperate with your sister, boost her confidence, help her become self-reliant, and crucially, help her move past her pain. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have dealt with Lai Rumu so quickly on her own. Your intelligence isn’t necessarily inferior to hers; you just prefer not to use your brain."
Lai Shenyan grinned playfully. "How could I be that meticulous? I’m just following the path you and she have planned for me. Where it leads is up to fate."
Wu Shi didn’t argue. Anyone who reaches the pinnacle of their field is no fool; Lai Shenyan’s apparent simplicity was his protective coloration. Right now, appearing simple-minded was the best persona. As a renowned actor, this artless charm was highly advantageous, causing his popularity to soar. Furthermore, his image as a doting brother won him another wave of fans. Lai Shenlan even acted as his agent, and she had chosen all his significant past roles.
Lai Shenlan allocated a small building for Qin Mu and Qin Zhiheng. "You can live here without worry," she told them. "Don’t be concerned about safety. My brother and I upgraded the security system after we returned, so it’s safer here than anywhere else. The task I need your help with is simple: I’ll handle matters that are inconvenient for Sister Bing.
"Because of her connection to Qin Jinhai, Sister Bing is inevitably lenient towards the Qin Family. Opportunities are fleeting; once missed, they’re gone forever. I want you to help me acquire as many of the Qin Family’s assets as possible. The more the Qin Family collapses, the better. The rest is up to you."
Lai Shenlan said, her eyes clear and bright, "This is our first collaboration. Here’s to a successful partnership!"
"To a successful partnership!" Qin Zhiheng replied with a beaming smile.
He liked this girl! Her pride bordered on arrogance, and he liked that very much! Arrogance was a good thing; he disliked excessive modesty. Too much modesty felt like disrespect to others—awkward and unappealing.
Having said her piece, Lai Shenlan departed with light steps.
Qin Mu looked around and asked, "Do you really plan to align with the Lai Family?"
"Mom, if you’re unwilling, I’ll stay here alone."
"It’s not that I dislike it. I’m just afraid that once this opportune moment passes and you’re no longer valuable, they’ll discard you."
"If that’s your concern, I’d face the same risk with anyone else. So, I might as well choose Lai Shenlan and follow the path Wu Shi and Fu Bing have arranged for me. Shenlan is young and very similar to me. If we cooperate well, I’ll have a share in the Lai Family’s future glory. Besides, we’re close in age. We might even become a couple who grew up together. Do you realize what that implies?"
Qin Mu was shocked. "You’ve already thought that far ahead?"
