After Rebirth, I Replaced My Ex-Husband's True Love
Chapter 191: Dog Barking
CHAPTER 191: CHAPTER 191: DOG BARKING
Julian Jennings and I aren’t really familiar with each other, so we just exchanged a smile as a greeting.
Joy Lawson was sitting across from me, and she sneered, "Ha, some people actually have the mood to be drinking coffee here?"
Crystal Dawson and I exchanged a glance, choosing to ignore her.
"Someone’s been playing the deep lover for so many years; I think it’s just self-indulgence, fake affection, and ended up hurting Azure. Such a plague!" Joy didn’t relent, and even Julian couldn’t stop her.
"Idiot," Crystal rolled her eyes and cursed.
"Who are you cursing at? Did I say anything to you? Trying to steal the spotlight?" Joy pointed at me, "Zoe Hathaway, I see you only know how to hide like a turtle. Don’t you dare speak up for yourself?"
I found it ridiculous, "If a dog bites me, do I have to bite back?"
With that, I stood up, ready to call Crystal and the others to leave together.
Joy suddenly said to me in a smug tone, "Today Henry Preston and Azure went to the cemetery to pay respects to Winter Tate, together with Auntie Hawthorne and Yardley."
Earlier, Wendy Hawthorne had told me she was going to visit Winter and had invited Henry to go with her, but at the time, Henry refused to go with them.
And now they all went together? How interesting.
"Do you think your play-hard-to-get tactics are working? It doesn’t compare to Azure’s; unloved people are just pitiful." Joy assumed I was hurt and grew more self-satisfied, not caring at all about how she looked in front of her boyfriend.
Julian’s expression was complex, rubbing his forehead in frustration.
"Joy, what’s going on?" Suddenly, Azure Vaughn’s voice rang out.
Her eyes were swollen, as if she had just been crying, and she was looking at us with a puzzled expression.
"Azure, are you okay?" Joy immediately dropped everything to express concern for Azure as soon as she saw her.
Azure shook her head slightly, her voice a bit hoarse, "I’m fine, just feeling a bit sad. Why are you...?"
She glanced at me, her expression subtle and clearly disapproving.
Joy immediately gained confidence, pointing at us, "We just ran into them, and they ended up calling me a dog. Seriously, no manners!"
At this point, a woman nearby spoke up, "Wasn’t it you who provoked them first? That’s why they said that to you."
I turned my head to look; it was a woman with short red hair, looking vibrant, with several silver earrings and a nose ring, giving her a rebellious appearance.
Seeing me look over, the short-haired woman smiled at me.
I returned a grateful smile.
"I..." Joy was a bit embarrassed after being countered by the short-haired woman.
"Joy, that’s enough, let’s just drop this. Henry is still waiting for us. Let’s go." Azure wiped her eyes and put on a magnanimous demeanor.
She seemed to fear I wouldn’t catch Henry’s name, so she emphasized it.
"Alright! Let’s go grab a meal together!" Joy immediately put on a triumphant look, as if Henry being with Azure was revenge against me. She glanced at me before pulling Julian away.
Henry is indeed hypocritical, outwardly so disdainful towards Azure, yet still able to go pay respects to Winter together.
I suddenly recalled something Henry had said before, how laughable.
At this moment, I felt inexplicably down, not wanting to shop or eat anymore, so I said to Crystal and the others, "I’m full, I need to go back to take a nap, let’s meet next time."
