CHAPTER 198: CHAPTER 198: I WISH YOU HAPPINESS

"I don’t want to move on, as long as you tell me you don’t truly want to be with Ivan Underwood." Henry Preston’s eyes were filled with reluctance.

I looked at him for a moment and asked, "Henry, when you ignored me and pushed me away before, did you ever think you would regret it one day?"

Not afraid to admit it, in my previous life, before my death, I had envisioned this scene—

Henry would finally realize I was the one who loved him most in this world, that he had already fallen for me, and after my death, he would regret it immensely.

Now it has finally happened, and I’m not dead, I heard him say with my own ears that he doesn’t want to end things with me.

Henry was silent for a moment and then adopted the most humble demeanor of his life, saying to me, "I didn’t think about it, but now I regret it. I can’t accept you being with another man."

"Henry, thank you for saying that. It greatly satisfies my need for revenge," I said as I sat up against the headboard, smiling at Henry, "But there’s no remedy for regret in this world. I won’t give you another chance. I am now Ivan Underwood’s girlfriend, and I’d appreciate it if you stayed away from me. I don’t want to cause him trouble."

Henry’s pride was already on the ground, and I just went and stepped on it.

He looked at me with an unfamiliar gaze.

I met his gaze calmly, trying to empty my mind to make my eyes look serene.

"Even if I were with Azure Vaughn, you wouldn’t care, would you?" Henry’s thin lips moved slightly.

"Yes, I will wish you both well," I replied. "As long as you persuade her to stop bothering me. Also, this recent kidnapping was orchestrated by her. I won’t let it rest."

Henry let out a cold laugh, "Ha."

I didn’t know what his cold laugh meant, but I felt uneasy.

Henry didn’t continue the conversation. He just took a palm-sized diary out of his pocket, threw it on my bed, and left.

After he left, I picked up the exquisite little notebook, which still had a lock, but it was already unlocked.

The pages inside were somewhat yellowed, clearly very old.

I opened the cover, and on the first page was my own handwriting: "99 Things To Do After Marrying Henry!"

There was a little heart drawn alongside a smiley face.

I suddenly remembered; this was the little diary I bought just after marrying Henry, intended to record what I thought would be a sweet married life. I even searched online for various romantic activities, listing ninety-nine things, perfectly fitting ninety-nine pages.

At the top of each page was a different task, with large blank spaces meant to record the process and outcome of accomplishing each one.

The first page read: "Go watch a romantic movie with him, drink cola, and eat popcorn."

The blue handwriting was somewhat faded, but behind it was a tick in black ink, clearly added recently.

I was stunned for a moment, recalling Henry asking me not long ago to go see a movie with him. Could it have been because of this forgotten diary?

Was he really trying to complete these tasks one by one according to this record?

My heart was filled with mixed emotions, unsure whether it was sorrow or regret.

"Still awake?" Ivan Underwood’s voice suddenly rang out.

"No, why did you come over?" I quickly put the diary away and looked at Ivan who entered with surprise.

There was a hint of fatigue on his face; he probably hadn’t rested well these past few days, with his family’s strong opposition being a mental torment for him.

Ivan walked to my bedside, a small smile on his lips. "I missed you, so I came to check on you. Did Henry come by earlier?"

He sat down in a chair, his hands with clearly defined, slender fingers interlocking gently, his voice very composed.

I nodded, "Yes, he came to ask if I really want to be with you. I’ve been asked this several times."

"Have you thought it through?" Ivan’s eyes were fixed unblinkingly on me, a trace of unease swirling in their depths.

"I have, but Ivan, you really need to consider carefully that I can’t have children, and being with me means facing a lot of criticism." I felt Ivan should be the one seriously considering things.

The smile at the corner of Ivan’s lips deepened, the unease in his eyes transforming into a brilliant, gentle glow, "I have thought it through. I won’t regret it."

He suddenly got up, then bent down close to me, his breath very near, "Zoe, I’ll make you fall for me."

I admit my heart skipped a beat at that moment; his magnified handsome face was comparable to a celebrity’s finely edited photo.

But I still guiltily avoided his gaze.

"Let’s try it. Maybe feelings will develop over time," I said.

Ivan gently touched my hair, tenderly, "Alright, good."

As the atmosphere grew more intimate, I suddenly remembered something, "Ivan, when Julian Jennings invited us to dinner before, did you tell my mom I was having dinner with Henry?"

This question confused me; I’ve always had some doubts about Ivan, so I might as well clarify.

Ivan seemed a little helpless, "Don’t you know your mom added Silas Lockwood to their WeChat? That day, that fool Silas posted a photo. Although he deleted it quickly after realizing something was off, your mom probably saw it."

Me: ...

Alright, I really misunderstood Ivan. With his character, he wouldn’t resort to such petty tactics.

"Alright, let’s get some sleep. It’s almost dawn." Ivan glanced out the window. Given that it’s summer, the days are long and nights are short. It was already after five, and the morning light had begun to shine.

I was indeed very tired, and more so mentally, so I said nothing more and closed my eyes to rest.

Once again that night, I dreamt of Henry. It was the scene when I first met him; I stared at him dumbly like a fool, while he raised an eyebrow and lazily glanced at me.

Back then I was still a teenage girl, and he was a spirited young man. In the blink of an eye, we’ve been entangled for over a decade. It’s been so long.

When I woke up, the photos of me and Ivan in an intimate entanglement had already spread all over the internet, surely released by Azure.
