CHAPTER 491: 472: BUMPING HEADS (4TH UPDATE)

Ye Ling saw that her mother-in-law had started speaking, and she herself remained silent, so she sat there with her head lowered, eating. While they were talking, she managed to finish a bowl of rice. The aunt on the side worried Ye Ling might feel awkward, so she kept watching her. When Ye Ling finished her bowl, the aunt wanted to serve her more rice but saw Shen Bin took the bowl away, got up, and refilled it with another bowl of rice.

After a while, he picked up the chopsticks and added a few pieces of meat into Ye Ling’s bowl.

Bai Xue, seeing that they were about to be kicked out by the Li Family, was furious that Ye Ling was eating with such relish, nearly bursting with anger, "Ye Ling, aren’t you going to care about your cousin’s situation? Are you going to watch her go to her death?"

"How should I care? Am I supposed to battle the Lin Family with a big belly?" Ye Ling finally lifted her head and replied softly when her name was mentioned.

Those words almost choked Bai Xue.

However, Ye Zhenfen was satisfied with her daughter-in-law’s actions. She worried that by speaking ill of her daughter-in-law’s mother right in front of her, Ye Ling might feel humiliated, but seeing her daughter-in-law not only wasn’t angry but even sided with her, Ye Zhenfen’s heart felt comforted. She felt her care for this daughter-in-law was not in vain, knowing who was truly close to her.

"Aunt, please stop, today we came at the wrong time." Bai Lianhua suddenly stood up, pulling her aunt who was about to speak.

When Bai Xue turned her head in disbelief and glared at her niece, Bai Lianhua slammed herself into the wall beside, and amidst Bai Xue’s sharp scream, there was a ’bang,’ and Bai Lianhua fell to the ground motionless.

Bai Xue screamed as she ran over, seeing her niece bleeding from the forehead, unsure how to react, she just kept screaming. Shen Bin quickly walked over, glanced at the ground, and then turned to the sofa to call the driver for a car.

"Look, they really know how to make a scene, and now they’re causing a ruckus in my house. In the future, not anyone should be let in just like that." Ye Zhenfen was initially startled, but after witnessing her son’s actions and realizing the girl was fine, she spoke angrily.

Bai Xue was also frightened, knowing the Li Family shouldn’t be provoked, she dared not utter another word, only holding her niece and crying loudly, lamenting their misfortune.

Even though Ye Ling was still hungry and disregarded them, this commotion ruined her appetite. She put down the chopsticks, supported her waist with one hand and helped her belly with the other, and got up to walk to the living room. Ye Zhenfen feared Bai Xue might do something rash in her excitement, so she quickly followed her daughter-in-law.

In the living room, Ye Ling glanced at Bai Lianhua, who had her eyes tightly shut, and after a long pause, she spoke indifferently, "If you keep pretending to be dead like this, I really won’t deal with the Lin Family."

Her words abruptly stopped Bai Xue’s crying, and there was complete silence in the room. Just when Bai Xue was about to retort, Bai Lianhua, who had been unconscious in her arms, slowly opened her eyes.

Everyone was once again struck with bewilderment.

"What’s going on with me? Can’t I even die?" Bai Lianhua was finding excuses for herself.

Ye Ling looked at her coldly, "You should leave now. If something comes out in the courtyard, I won’t handle your affairs."

As Bai Lianhua hesitated to speak, Ye Ling continued, "This is the last time. Next time, even if you spill blood in front of everyone in the courtyard, I still won’t deal with it."

After saying her piece, Ye Ling turned around and returned to her bedroom.

Ye Zhenfen watched her daughter-in-law’s retreating figure, then looked at Bai Xue and Bai Lianhua whose forehead was bleeding, unable to believe what she had seen and heard. When Bai Lianhua slowly stood up, pulling the similarly stunned Bai Xue away, she finally believed the scene she had just witnessed was real.

Li Houguo met his wife’s bewildered gaze and smiled, "Alright, let’s eat. Lingzi has taken care of everything, so what are you still worried about?"

He then instructed his son, "I think you should handle this matter, don’t involve your wife too much since she’s pregnant."

Shen Bin, reflecting on the previous incident, nodded, got up, and went to the bedroom, with Ye Zhenfen’s voice trailing behind, "Persuade your wife properly, this isn’t worth getting angry over. I’ll ask the aunt to prepare some supper for you two tonight."

Shen Bin closed the door, shutting out the voices from outside.

Seeing his wife lying on the bed, Shen Bin walked over, thought for a moment, and sat down on the bedside, "Don’t you love the hand-pulled noodles near your school? How about I go get you a bowl?"

"Alright, I’ll go now, or it’ll be closed if it gets too late." Without receiving a response, Shen Bin assumed she agreed and stood up to leave.

The room quieted down, and Ye Ling slowly sat up. The matters with the Lin Family could be easily managed. If the Lin Family dared to act like this, it could also be considered fraud; after all, they extorted money from Bai Lianhua. What annoyed her was Bai Lianhua dared to pull such a stunt at her home. Did she truly believe Ye Ling was easy to bully?

Since she promised not to let the Lin Family trouble Bai Lianhua anymore, Bai Lianhua’s affairs, whether they could be concealed or not, she hadn’t promised. Bai Lianhua dared to use such a trick, so she had to pay some price, to understand that Ye Ling was not someone easily manipulated.

While pondering over this matter, Shen Bin entered. She intended to be cold to him and didn’t bother with him; unexpectedly, he actually went out to buy noodles. Nonetheless, she thought he was trying to curry favor for his mistakes, and felt no gratitude.

At night, after eating two large bowls of hand-pulled noodles, Ye Ling went to sleep. The next morning, after breakfast, Ye Ling planned to go directly to the Lin Family, but saw Shen Bin hadn’t left and was waiting in the living room, seemingly ready to go with her.

Ye Ling remained silent. Since traveling was inconvenient, having a driver was good enough. She didn’t need to ask for the Lin Family’s address, Shen Bin had found it out long before, and they drove straight there. Coincidentally, upon entering the Lin Family, Ye Ling and Shen Bin saw a familiar face inside — it was none other than Gao Xique.

Gao Xique was startled to see them, her face immediately changed, seeming both fearful and worried. Lin Tao had seen Shen Bin before and guessed he might be there to stand up for Bai Lianhua, his expression also wasn’t good.

Yet the door was open, and shutting it wasn’t an option. Even if he wanted to, he knew the people before him wouldn’t allow it, so he let them in.

Pointing at Gao Xique, Ye Ling asked Lin Tao, "What’s your relationship?"
